A Cold Winter Camping Journey in a Hot Tent | Part 1
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 чер 2019
- Join me and Saku earlier this winter 2019 as we adventure far over the country to get off grid for a week. I travel by snowshoe hauling two sleds and near 220 pounds of gear behind me. I have a canvas hot tent and a cold tent. This is part 1. The purpose of this trip is to explore a new area, prepare myself for longer winter expeditions and enjoy the peace, quiet and freedom of the great outdoors.
This is a delayed production because it was filmed during the airing of my " Man and Dog :Through the Newfoundland Wilderness" 10 PART SERIES which you can view here:

Now that is a fire @20:30! No mention of mosquitos on this trip! Thanks for sharing.
You and your dog go together like peanutbutter and jelly what a nice adventure with mans best friend!
haha awesome thanks for watching Kevin
There is something addicting to camping in the wilderness during the winter. Its intoxicating.
Man is it ever. So crisp and silent
Can't wait for the next one, nice little quiet getaway. Nothing like it.
Thanks Jason it was a different pace trip for sure, real chill
Just when I was looking for something to do! Time to watch another awesome video!
Good stuff Justin 👍. Take care and God bless ✌️
As I sat at home after one of Eastern Australia's coldest days this year so far. Eating pea and ham soup with a mountain of toast, it was good to have that old familiar flute music and you and Saku off on another adventure. Sure makes for a great days end.
Thanks Craig I almost took the flute out but kept it for you ; ) Hope the soup and toast hot the spot!
@@JustinBarbournlexplorer oh dont take that tune out. It a real signature piece for sure
Great to see a new adventure with you and Saku, can't wait for the next episode.

You and Saku make a great team
Winter camping is so gnarly, much respect.
Thanks Perry I love it better than summer man
Thanks for sharing. Hauling 220 pounds on ice is seriously extreme.
Nice job Justin. Always enjoy your adventures with Sak. Looking forward to the next episode!
Oh man, my lunch break just got a hell of a lot better!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
haha enjoy Richard!
Nice rig you cooked up for the sled system. I hope you do some fishing in the next episode.
I flew home the weekend before this and spent the weekend in over the country ice-fishing. It was cold that year, just brutal winds. Had a few hot Toddy`s... hahaha. Following year it was raining, then sloppy snow, snow, & blowed a gale.... we set up the tarp and spent a couple nights again,... couldn`t see across the pond for drifting snow. We were tucked away pretty good, and had an awesome time. I usually do this the first weekend of Feb and last weekend of March. Fly in on Thursday morning and fly out Monday afternoon back to Halifax. Since then we now have a couple Go-Pro`s to take some videos to show family and friends. Love watching your videos. They keep me at peace. Stay safe..!!
Very nice video.Enjoyed it a lot !!!!
zack loves the new footies
Saku sure has a lots of stories he could tell his buddies.

Thank you Justin for taking the time to make your videos, I know they take a lot of time out your day to make them with all the walking back to get your camera after you get the right shot sometimes doing it two or more times. Thank you I do enjoy these videos of you and your friend out on a trek. I don't remember temp that low here in Essex England in my lifetime.
Thanks Lewis!

"Just out there winging it", no f*****g way man, you are a pro. Anyone trying to wing it out there is coming out with the spring thaw.
I'm sitting in air conditioning, it seems cold there. If Saku could talk, what stories he could tell. Great video, as always, love the stuff you put out. All the Best.

Hey guys! This video was filmed this past February while I was airing the *"Man and Dog" series*:
( ua-cam.com/play/PLHfA8Z4nZrxV6NdI_2bXdAiXE0hPKoAXP.html)
I had no time to edit and release it then but finally got around to it this past week. It will be a *2-3 PART MINI SERIES*. *Part 2* will come later this week.
Though it's nearly summer, I hope you enjoy the cool off and maybe get inspired to think about your own trips for next winter. Planning well in advance is the easiest way to make it happen, so why not get the gears going now?
My schedule over the next few weeks is going to prevent me from getting out on any overnight trips and making episodes. Very sorry about that. The next multi-night trip is planned for later in June. But until then I'll still be shooting for a weekly video upload which will consist of the rest of this series and then some other ideas I have. One being a video review of mine and Saku's first aid kit.
The lack of outings is because I'll be on a *speaking tour* in Newfoundland to talk about my longer expeditions and also working to clue up the book "Man and Dog: Through the Newfoundland Wilderness " *which will be released this September 2019*. More details to come soon.
If you're from NL and interested in *tickets* to check out my speaking tour please visit this link:

All the best,
Justin
Looks like another nice trip! Nice idea with the sleds. Love your adventures! Keep them coming 😊
There's always some butt wipe that has to break glass. Pretty crappy leaving the batteries, too. For pulk tips check out the Winter Trekker forum. A few brackets and your sleds won't slide sideways. Thanks for the video.
Yes sir ! Justin is in the wild again ! I like very much your videos, your adventures are awesome. I think people of MSR should send you a new tent for free as you are the best ambassador of there product after all it went trought. On my last winter camping trip I was complaining about the Weight of my sled with the gear , around 75 pounds 😂 . Looking forward to part 2
Awesome, keep them coming.
Justin that's a great start to your adventure. great set up you have there. look forward to #2 take care

When i watched your planning and excitement starting out on your wilderness exploration I wondered if something like this would benefit Young Offenders or boys heading to a boys home just getting started on their road to a lifetime of crime. I mean preteens/early teens still not too late to walk this way💗

Just started watching your channel and enjoy it keep the video coming looking forward to hear from you
Noticed a few of the other outdoors channels are now getting into 'expeditions' and more canoeing, think you are ahead of the curve a bit and have a few on the bandwagon...should get some of the bigger ones to give you a shout out now and again and throw a bit of traffic your way. Thanks from wet Ireland, looking forward to the next one.
