God bless you Charles. To have that level of patience, in a parking lot, out in the cold. You are one in a million. My family had been Chevy dealers for nigh on 70 yrs. Seeing the issues with the injectors and connectors, I'm not so sure that I would want a Duramax. Haven't heard of these sort of issues with the 2 other light duty diesels. Anyhow, you be safe and thanks for the video.

I wish there was a good Diesal mechanic in or around detroit. The dealer will have your truck for months.
I agree, i try to stay away from dealers if i can. I'm sure there someone around there that's good with diesels
What an absolute great video man! I hope you keep doing these videos. I have a 18 d-max so im watching all your videos so im ready when one of these problems shows up for me. With a job like that i think i would put a $400 injector in also, rather than just a connector considering it takes several hours.

I ran the codes and the last time i got that code it was the injector. If it's the p0207 it woulda been the #7 connector but i didn't get that code until after i changed the injector. Thank you! It took me 5 hours. It could be done faster but it was my first time and recording took a little longer. The egr pipe took the longest . I've talked to other ppl and theirs came right out and other ppl took longer.

Thank you for your comment! As far as i know there're the same with no upgrade but i can say of the 5 I've replaced (3 on my truck and 2 on another truck) they're still holding up with no issues
I just had a 2018 duramax checked out by our local Andrew's diesel shop, I asked the about the L5P pigtail connector problem and they said when on comes in they replace it with a LML pigtail connector to help the repair last. Have you ever heard about doing this?

Also is it mandatory to have injector programmed to stop misfire?
It's not, I would take a Pic of top of injector so you have the number and can get it programmed at some point but it should run fine with no code to the best of my knowledge
Anything you can’t do for the l5p with that scan tool you have? Also can you do the tire pressure sensors relearn?
It doesn't do tire pressure sensor learn. That's about the only thing so far that I've wanted it to do that it didn't do. I'm still learning about it myself. I've done forced regens, injector flow rate, read and cleared codes from all modules and got into some of the live data but I'm still learning
what autel scanner do you have that does injector programming? I replaced the #5 connector & the issue went away for about 1,000 miles then returned.. I bought the other 7 connectors & checked the code.. it was #5 again!
I did static ohm the injectors .1 - .0.. all were the same
I replaced the 4 connectors on the rt bank & redone #5 without using the shrink connector supplied... usedcopper ferrules & shrink tube. Ran great for 4 or 5 days, then, same code #5..
I am pretty sure injector is going bad
I have the autel MK-808BT. I caint remember the exact code but this one had a injector timing code as well
what did you have to do for the timing code?
When i replaced the injector it went away
I'm picking up new OEM injector tomorrow.. I took it all apart from up top.. didn't remove fender well at all.. had it apart & injector out in about 40 minutes..
Any tips for reinstall of up pipe and shield. Not sure which one to put on first and they're both getting stuck
Do you know if the P0203 or the P0303 is a code for the injector itself or could just possibly be the pigtail? My truct threw both these codes so im wondering if ill need to replace the injector as well, or maybe the pigtail will clear it?
I believe it's an injector code but i will bet that the pigtail will fix it. I've not got the p0203 or 303 myself but i have seen both of those codes p0206 with p0306 and the pigtail fixed it. The problem is #3 is on the drivers side right behind the egr pipe and it's hard to get in there to it without taking egr pipe off even to replace the pigtail. I had to take thepipe off of mine to fix a manifold stud and i replaced #1 and #3 pigtail just because i was there. Definitely a good possibility it's just a pigtail. If you could get to the wires and start it up and wiggle them i beer everything would go back to normal

Help? After I replaced the connector and injector on number 5 the cluster cleared but came right back up. Do you know what this could mean.?
If you replaced the connector and the misfire and light is still on with the cylinder 5 misfire code is probability going to be a bad injector
If you replaced both i would think it could be wiring going to injector somewhere in the harness or something is telling the ecm not to fire that injector
Have you had to cylinder 1 yet on any of the L5P's?
I haven't seen #1 or #3 go bad but i did replace both when i had a chance on my truck

Hi, have you ever had a noisy egr solenoid. Mine makes a winning whistle noise for up to 2 minutes after the engine is it turned off.
How easy is it to get to cylinder one o got a bad injector on cylinder one and four I'm in Mexico
It would be right beside the one i replaced to the front (passenger side front) . It's one of the more aggrivating ones because of egr. 2 injectors bad? 1 and 4? That seems odd they would go down together. What codes are you getting?
even if you were a bit sketchy & lacked technical information, you effectively demonstrated what I need to do to get into mine on that same side. I have a misfire & code for #5 injector.. I have read a few comments about loose fitting terminal ends in the injector connectors & hoping that perhaps that is my issue rather than injector... 1guy to another, thanks
I have a 8 year old shitty OTC Genesys & can't program. I need to get a new scan tool for that & just to be more current.. what altel do you recommend & software..
Thank you! I have the autel mk808-bt. I'll get you a link to the exact one i have. In my experience (which isn't much) If it's the P0205 and a misfire code its most likely the injector connector but if it has a injector timing code it would be the injector but if you replace the injector I'd replace the pigtail too. If you saw the video where i replaced the #7 connector on mine #5 is right next to it and they are the easiest 2 to get at. I also find the injector connector on Amazon for a lot cheaper than I've found them at the dealer.

I understand, i would rather not but i had to do what i had to do. I've looked into replacing the whole harness but from what i understand it's the same harness with the same issues we already have. I've had to do #7,#5 & #4 so far

general motors is aware of this issue with the lp5 motors they have a new part and part number they should do the right thing and do a recall for this instead they are greedy and the cost falls on the consumers head we need a class action lawsuit against general motors for this issue

I know the 17,18 and 19s had issues but i haven't heard much about the 20 and up
@@CFarmer yes the 17-19 have bad injector and a bad fuel rail system my to 2019 started having problems around 12,000 miles on it , i kept going back to the dealership over maybe out of 5 month about 7 times around the 4 time they finally replaced all the injector in the truck I ask them why and they told me they already know about the bad injector but they just can’t replace all of them till they get a go on it from manufactory I ask why they just don’t do a recall on them he said he didn’t know but he said that was about a 7k job they did on my truck but The warranty Cover everything so after that I started getting p1089 code went back the 5 and 6 time finally the 7 time I went back the manufactory told them to replace all of the fuel rail system so now that been about 8 days ago and no check engine light have came back on yet and the truck runnings better then it did when it only had 7 miles on it new but yea he needs to take it back and stay on them to get all that replaced especially if it’s still under the warranty
It's crazy, i went to the dealer and got the injector and parts spent around $350.00 and everyone I've talked to that's had #3 replaced at dealer says it was a $2k job... I'm glad you got fixed up under warranty but this truck has 265k miles and mine has over 300k miles. We're both way out of warranty
