Got the same truck so far it’s been good 30’000 miles and 0 issues with anything fuel oil changes and tires the only maintenance so far
I had a 15 Duramax that got up to 125k I towed heavy with it only problem I ever had with the truck was it would always blow the cheap down pipe clamp off when towing..Was a great truck I went to Ford F 350 for my new one thought..After 30 years of driving Chevys that new front end they put on the Duramax finally turned me away..What the hell were they thinking!?
Only problem i had on my 2019 midnight edition, was "Low coolant" message. Replaced the coolant resorvoir ($150 to $160 from dealership) and problem went away. Other than that, solid beautiful truck. 💪🏼💪🏼
Thanks for the information. I just bought a 2017 Chevrolet 2500 Duramax truck with 70,000 miles. It was a one owner. He also had a problem with his air conditioner too. No other problems. I’ll be there watching for your next video. I’ve never owned a diesel truck. I hope it won’t let me down.
Change all glow plugs now and the wire harnesses ( pigtails ) , trust me. It will cost you a few bucks now but you will thank me later. Besides that , I'm at 220,000 and not a problem. Best truck I've ever owned. Thanks for watching.
Man I’m looking at a 2019 Chevy Silverado 2500 LTZ with 70k miles and I’m debating between this truck and a 2019 gmc sierra 1500 44k miles they’re both going around then 49k price range pleaseeee help which is the better bang for the buck
Had some of the same troubles with my chevy. Thanks for the tip on the backseat couldnt figure that out either. Wow what a great watch.
a tip: you can watch series at Flixzone. I've been using it for watching all kinds of movies lately.
@Graysen Lukas Yup, been watching on flixzone for since november myself :D
The smell isn’t the brakes. It smells when it’s in regen cleaning the dpf
I have a 2019 Duramax, same size truck with full size cab, and I get 22 miles per gallon highway. I stayed with the stock tires, that could be one reason for the better mileage.
Probably. I pull a motorcycle trailer with one bike and barely get 12. I have 120 ,000 on it now. I find a significant difference when I do 65 instead of 70-75. Thanks for watching.
@@detroit313vlogs7 you should do the 120k mile review I’m looking to buy one this week!
Looking to buy 2018 2500hd with duramax..worried about any major engine problems/recalls. Appreciate your time/effort great to see the mileage pile up. Any updates? Issues?.. thanks alot
Was just in the shop again. Third glow plug went out. Motor is solid so far. Make sure you get the extended warranty. If not , I would have paid thousands in repairs. A lot of little bullshit but motor has been solid so far. Air conditioning went out as most chevys , 15 to current do. That would have been 2000 alone if I didn’t have the extended warranty. Have 90,000. Miles now. Heading to tennesee tonight and then back to Florida from there. I’ll keep you updated. Thanks
Just glow plugs. They go out randomly. Also change your air intake filter or you will get a code referring to the turbo. Probably because of the restriction. No other problems. 85K now.
@@Robrooks7 thanks sir... I ended up getting a 2020 duramax... 10spd... only dislike is that the 10spd is not an Allison built by Allison.
Nice review keep them coming lil buddie 313 THE D SPOT
Thanks for the video; and the comment with the grille cover link.
That’s your def system mine gets the same smell and figured out that’s what it is
Regen cycle to burn gunk out of particulate filter... first time mine did it I thought something serious was wrong, smelled like a major plastic meltdown. Computer dumps a bunch of diesel that causes crazy high temperatures in exhaust system emission components... "wonderful"
In the process of the regen cycle the high temperature in the cat and particulate filter turns some of the exhaust into ammonia and that the smell your smelling
I put a set of commercial tires on mine . 75000 no issues .still about 30% left .
Open range tires from les schwab best truck tires on the market
Looking to buy a 2019 long bed ltz. My only concern is the penny pincher repairs. $2700 for fuel injectors and then ac units, etc. How much do you spend roughly a year on repairs? Would you buy it again?
I have 200 thousand miles on it now. I spent around 3 grand this year on harness issues. Which I should have done myself. I'm getting it deleted and tuned for 8500 next month. Love the truck. Yes I would buy again. Thanks for watching
And those are called dealer tires...They’re made of a soft compound to improve ride quality when you buy it..They don’t last for shit ,almost every tire company makes these for the big dealers
I mean..You talked about how shitty it is for fuel economy, then mentioned that you don't offroad, then mentioned the idea of lifting it all in the span of 3 minutes. That alone gives you your answer as to whether you should lift it..
The amount of times he said let me know . 😂. Good video tho
Get a nitto open country tires 3. Also i have the same truck and get 21mpg.
I have a 2018 with 113,000 , back left tail light went out & the radio went out. Level switch on radiator overflow bottle has gone out. That's it.
I have a 2018 and just put out $2700 for #4 cylinder fuel injector and pigtail. I was 2000 miles over my lame extended warranty which only took me to 75,000. Probably wouldn't have covered injectors anyway. This was my first new truck so didn't pay close enough attention to the sales guys extended warranty terms.
You just reminded me. I'm getting an extended warranty today. . I'm at 120,000 , just got it out of the shop again at 115,00 for a bunch of more bs supposed electrical issues.
@@taspz983 not for the electrical. The warranty ends for different groups of the truck at different mileage.
Put narrow as possible load range E. May look weak but nooo! Better mileage and 100,000 miles a set!
I think most chevy 2500hd diesel or not last over 300k miles. Im looking to buy a 2019 and possibly selling my K5 blazer or just trade in my other ride for one.
Damm.. and here i am with a 2014 WORK TRUCK lol nothing but problems barely hit 100k I just saw a badass 2019 l5p on facebok and was amazed how beautiful this type of truck is
Couple things, BF Ko2 for rubber. Get rid of those stick on vent shades, why would anyone stick on those ONTOP of their paint. Get the channel vent shades. Speaking of paint, you got swirl marks all over on that paint, yikes. I do nothing other than highway with 22mph for the 2019 Sierra AT. 2019 had car play, your truck should have it. Lots more to throw your way, no time now. Peace.
This guys great.
Any hunters notice the honkers in the background
Michelin ATX tires . 285 each great tires
If your trying to get better fuel mileage you don’t want to lift your truck. Also off road tires are not good for fuel mileage. Sounds like brake caliper hanging.
How about hard low shifting ? Dose yours do it? Thx
Yes it does. Sometimes real hard. It does it for a few days and then stops. Off and on. Has 170, 000 miles now. Had it checked. They said nothing wrong.
Michelin tires all the way, cooper don’t even come close.

My 2020 high country interior looks basically the same
I went and looked at the new chevys. Not liking them at all. Exspecially the front ends. Thanks for watching.
Definitely delete the def system, straight pipe.
If I could find someone good in Michigan , I would. Thanks for watching

What’s the update on this truck
@@centralcoast6720 coming soon. I have 250 thousand miles now. Sorry for the delay
BF GOODRICH all day long
Are you a JL?
If you plan on keeping your Duramax for awhile, tuning should be done first. The DPF, DEF, and EGR are horrible and cause long term harm for the truck. (More so the DPF) With these stock trucks, all of your soot you have already burned is now being re-circulated back into your motor with these emissions in tact. Tuning allows for better breathability of the truck. Within the past year, companies like PPEI have emissions compliant tuning if you feel that route would be better suited for you. Also, as a lot of truck guys know, Chevy is known for their terrible injectors. Now, you could say screw it and get after market injectors, but most people will tell you to get a FASS fuel system which I highly recommend. Watch a video on their UA-cam channel to see how good it separates the debris/dirt in the diesel fuel, pretty much giving your injectors the cleanest possible fuel. It's a night and day difference on how the truck runs. Completely a new machine.
Kenny Couwenhoven thank you. Do you know of any shops near Michigan or in Michigan that does them. Thanks again
@@kennycouwenhoven6704 maybe as of when they got busted from the EPA, but I do not have a dpf or egr or any of the bs that comes stock on the truck. I also have PPEI tuning.
Can't mirror video onto your infotainment, it's illegal. There are aftermarket tricks.
What extended warranty did you get?
I forget which one now. It was only good until 100,000 miles. I have over 200 now. But they did do what ever said and covered everything. It was through the dealer.
@@detroit313vlogs7 ok thank you . I was just trying to see what warranty company to go
Through .. appreciate it
@@roberthelvick4939 I'll see if I can find out when I get back in town.
Junk it lol
Sell it, and buy the brand new 2022 Tundra
I have a 2019 Duramax myself, its a beast. No problems so far... great video, thanks.
