What if when vlad levels up, he DRAINS 1 from the enemy nexus instead of just dealing 1. Seems a bit OP and might need a nerf to his level up condition, but it is really flavorful given his league of legends identity

Yeah Vlad definetly needs some buffs. I think drain would make it better but I don't know if that would be enough. If you buff him to deal 2 dmg instead of 1 that would be too op. I have no idea on how to balance him. I really want him to be better.

I think making it drain on levelup is a great idea, his levelup at the moment feels pretty underwhelming. I suspect when he was in development he was a 5 mana 5/5 with regenerate and he got the ability on levelup, but it was too weak and also too similar to garen so they made it the way it is now, but it feels a bit undercooked.

@@vibhunagori Because he takes 1 from Vlad and 6 from the Scarmother, for a total of 7. But he also levels up, giving him 2 more HP. So 7-2 is 5.
This deck was the one that actually got me interested in playing legends of runeterra in the first place (after seeing how fun it was). I got a weaker version without noxian fervor and harsh winds (I didn't thought that they could be that helpful, but kinda help with some of the weaknesses of mine) and hope I can get vryna soon, since it's the last card I need to finally finish my first deck.
Also, for a little boost for vladimir, maybe he could boost the attack of the ones he harms with the crimson pact kinda similar with how the crimson aristocrat works, but only for that turn

@@dogebama Thanks. I will do my best and try to create new decks to see if I can get to understand better the strengths and weaknesses of the decks, since I have a lot to learn yet. (Also, I want to learn a way to defeat unyielding spirit, since I still don't know how to play around it without arrest or forced recall spells, and being stuck with Ionia and Demacia makes a lot more difficult to create some decks)
Ivan Caravaca You could try to get through the unit with overwhelm or “just” stack up units until you can slip past the unkillable unit. Just my thoughts tho, not very detailed. It does depend a lot on your deck for example
@@FenrirWolf203 I played the championless undying deck of mogwai and ran into a unyielding spirit follower with 11 power and lifesteal. We were going back and forth for many turns, he kept healing up. I knew I had that 2 mana silence spell and just waited it out.
That Plaza Guardian deck was hilarious. I totally wasn't expecting 6 of them.
When there was 3 on the board and he realizes "is he putting more of them in the deck?" Then the next turn there are 6 Plaza Guardians on the board I was laughing at the absurdity even more so that he survived and won.

Hey mog, I don't know if you are going to read this, but it's nice finally showcasing the gigalord vladimir himself. I just want to point out a variant of this deck that is really underrated and, in my opinion, stronger than the "common" variant. So these are the changes:
- drop the braum's, he is so slow and it feels really bad against will of ionia/vengeance/anything that finally kills him when you invested so much in him
- drop the crimson aristocrats, it can't be played on curve and against burn aggro you will feel this hard
- drop 1 vlad and add 2 tarkaz, tarkaz is similar to vlad but he's stronger in some situations (enemy depends on barriers, you need a really beefy blocker etc.)
- drop the legion veterans and add babbling bergs, they will draw either vlad or tarkaz for a self harm full swing
- add some bloodsworn pledges and scarthane steffen
- add 3 might, this is for the battle scars synergy, especially with the card below
- add unscarred reaver - most crimson players (myself included before realising my error) just dropped this card after a few games thinking it was useless trash (basically really hard to get going and usually a 0/3 till you chump block with it and do no dmg to the enemy) - well now it's become my favorite card, she puts so much pressure when she gets going and is relevant even as a later drop when you have your self harm enablers.
So what you do is try to actively ping her so she gets the inital 3 attack then, if you feel safe just pump her with buff cards then finish with might or just trade with a big unit Now to enable unscarred reaver you need to use transfusion and death lotus. A well placed death lotus can get you really good trades, a 0/3 unscarred reaver with death lotus can trade into:
- boomcrew rookie becoming a 6/1 and also killing 1 hp units (really good in burn aggro matchup)
- badgerbear
So someone may point out that we have too many 1 drops (omen hawks and unscarred reavers), well omen hawk is just a staple 1 drop and leads into really good turn 2+ plays (1/4 unscarred reavers or 3/4 crimson disciple is insane, can really win you the game in some situations), but, like I said earlier, unscarred reaver is not necesarilly an early game card, she is a really good draw even later into the game. When you have tarkaz/vlad it adds a 3/2 body for 1 mana, and if the enemy doesn't shut her down she can become a huge treat.
The combination of having an earlier curve with omen hawk/unscarred reaver/crimson disciple core can really catch some players off guard and lead into early wins.
Also it makes corina control decks a living hell, trying to kill a unit that just becomes stronger when it survives. One of my favorite moments is when the enemy kept trying to kill my unscarred reaver which became a 17/3 and basically oneshot him.
TL;DR: Drop the Braums, add Unscarred Reaver and Might for surprise dunks and pseudo-aggro playstyle
Sorry for the long text but I think that the braumless variant of vladimir is stonger and I want more poeple to see the power of best girl unscarred reaver XD. Mogwai if you read this I hope you will try this version and maybe make a video on it.

I think they could rework his skill, making it something like Support, so he only drains hp to all the units on his right side while the left remain untouched, while playing Vlad there's a lot of times when I want to attack but only 1hp is remaining in a unit.
It would be a small change, but it would make him more balanced.
I was thinking more in the lines of "I heal our strongest allie x at the begining of each turn"

This deck concept (as well as the original one, with just crimson units before the expansion) was pretty much my favorite deck and the first one I invested into. While it was fun to play, it always sadly felt underwhelming though, seeing stuff like Will of Ionia. Thermogenic Beams, Culling Strikes and several other things that just destroy you especially if you invested some Take Hearts or Crimson Aristocrats onto Braum... I do wish Braum could be a bit stronger with maybe more than 0 Attack or 1 or 2 health more. Cool to see you going back "to the roots" with this refined version of the deck though, Mogwai!
Vlad buff idea :
Before level up :
Vlad have regeneration
Still the same skill
After leveling up :
Vlad gain +1/+1
When attacking vlad deals 1 damage to all attacking allies and give them +1/+0 until the end of round, additionally for each point of damage dealt, vlad deal that damage to the enemy nexus
When vlad levels up, he drains 3 from enemy nexus
Leveling condition :
10 allies survive damage
Edit : thinking about making him a 5/4 before leveling up and a 6/6 when he levels up
Enables vlad to be more of a "good when he levels up" kinda card,and of course because of the drain 3 too

I played with this archetype since I began playing LoR, but i go with a more Freljord focused deck, with the Scar cards (Steffen and Vrynna), along with Legion Veteran and Kato the Arm
Still working on the deck though, cause, as you said, you can't really interact with the enemy's units
But its really fun to just OTK them with Steffen 25atk with overwhelm :D

Mark Stockstill it’s... honestly not that op... karma doubles spells, garen rallies every turn, kata rallies and wins all her fights, Vlad would (I’d assume after lvl up) drain for up to 5 health... which neverglade collector can already do in an ephemeral deck.. you could even up his lvl up condition if you want to

@@phoenixjones2569 You can kill 4 health unit easyly But you can't kill a regenaration unit with at least 6 health not that easy. Grasp is Drain 3 from a unit is a 5 mana. Drain 5 from enemy nexus is just nuts ok?
İbrahim Halid Özdemir 4 health actually isn’t easy to kill as 3 is the most damage most cards can do (get excited, gotcha, noxian fervor, and as you mentioned grasp) and that would also still need 5 allies to attack alongside him.. he’d be just as useless on his own, just after level up I think it should drain instead of do straight damage. Hell, this makes no difference if you’re full health, and I even suggested raising the level up condition slightly at least

Vlad Is a great champ, I played him in beta and got to diamond. It was a Braum and Vlad deck just like this, I loved to play with it. But when the update came out I kind of let him aside to play with the new champs. But with this new patch, he is going to be my main again. Only downside is matches against Ionia

Maybe something cool for vlad is that when he attacks while he is leveled up, he gives harmed allies regeneration this round. (so they heal fully when the round ends) might be a bit too strong but you can still kill the units during the blocking actions. Would give him some more power and kinda fits his character from League.

I am not very experienced in card games, LOR is my first one but would giving Vlad regenerate before flipping and making his skill drain the enemy Nexus after flipping, would that be a good buff?
The issue with vlad is that his effect syneries with going aggressive while alot of his archetype units synergies more with sittting back blocking and trading well. A buff would be changing his effect to i see a unit take damage deal one damage to the enemy nexus, when i attack deal one units to all attacking units . Level up when i see a unit take damage deal 2 to the enemy nexus, attack deal 1 damgae to all attacking units.

You're right. He didn't run Bloodsworn Pledge in this deck, but I use it. It's all about getting the trades which keep your opponents board small, whilst dealing direct damage to Nexus. Vlad just needs that one attack on turn 6,7,8 where the board has enough bodies to provide decent damage to the nexus, whilst triggering Crimson Disciple(s).
I disagree with the buff though. They could make him regenerate when he's not leveled up. Off the top of my head, why not keep with the theme of self-harm, and once he has leveled, allow Vlad to kill a follower to kill an enemy follower, or for direct damage to the Nexus.
This way, he'd be in the same ball park as Garen, as he regenerates, and his level up ability is still better than Vlad's.
Yep, realistically you will attack with Vlad and a full board only once per game. And after that your homies will be dead or dying. It's hard to maximize his skill.
However, I think letting him deal 2 to the nexus when a unit takes damage is way too strong. Even the unleveled up buff you're proposing is still too strong because it doubles in combat. You will just park Vlad in your bench and watch as the carnage unfolds.
Maybe making his leveled up form deal 1 or 2 damage to ALL other battling creatures when he attacks will be good enough. Or just give him Lifesteal along with Regeneration.
I think just adding drain on his levelled up skill is nice.
Braums hates the War that Freljord is constantly experiencing, even though a family fights it doesnt mean he appreciates it.

I think Vlad would be good with regeneration on his base form would be a good start. Perhaps his leveled up ability could also give him +0/+1 until the end of the turn for each ally he damages.
Do you think Vladimir could benefit as a lower drop champion? Like shift him from a 5 drop to a 3 or 4 because having him at 5 after Swain got introduced in this set....... His ability would help Swain, but that bad boy generally comes with far more efficient ways to get what he needs than having another 5 drop champion step on his drop turn. I do like the idea of having him with Miss Fortune because that is just pure added damage if they are on the board together especially if she is already leveled up and hitting the nexus and the blockers for 3 on top of Vlads ability.
I literally just thought of this combo today. See, Vladimir and Anivia were my go two in the combo'd region. Vladimir does his thing with leech life skill while Anivia handles the defending units; both finishing in dealing damage to the Nexus.
A good defense build to ensure Vladimir levels effectively while you're keeping his followers' protected to maximize their abilities in combo with Frejord's followers like Scarmother Vrynna for that extra overpower damage once she withstands a hit; leveling Vladimir in the process.
I named the deck 'Cold Blooded' because once Vladimir and Anivia are on the board attack they bring this amazing display that you physically see the synergy they have. (Wonder if there's a hidden lore with Anivia and Vladimir..)
Anyways, obviously it's not a perfect tier deck but I'd really like to see someone attempt the combo and see if they can bring the potential out fully.
I figure Vladimir and Braum was going to be better due to Braum needs to survive damage to level as do Vladimir with the exception its not just him but any unit needs to survive damage. But once Braum levels, each hit from Vladimir chains to a free mustached poro. Can't lose with it. But Vladimir and Sejuani is my next experiment

I've been running Ruthless Raider in a similar build lately and really like it, the Tough ability absorbs the ping from cards like Transfusion, Vlad, and Aristocrat (and Imperial Demolitionist, which i've been trying out as well in a more aggro version). Noxian fervor is great, I was running Scarmaiden Reavers with it for maximum regen but I'm not sure they're the right fit. I think I might try out your version for harsh winds instead of bloodsworn pledge. What do you think of Shared Spoils over Hawk? Thanks for all the videos!
The problem with Ruthless Raider is that she dies to anything with at least 2 attack. So there will be lots of times where she just sits there, not attacking or blocking, if you want to maximize her with the ping cards.
Yes, she will never die to Vlad's ping, but obviously your opponent will block and kill her if she joins the attack.
Noxus and Freljord have many other creatures that get additional value from being pinged, as Mogwai showed here.
At 2 mana, I'd rather have Crimson Disciple. She can survive 2 damage, she can deal direct damage, and she can be buffed to keep being a ping target while also representing a lot of damage. She's the best combo for Imperial Demolitionist.
For one more mana, you can get Braum instead like Mogwai did.
If you pair Noxus with Shadow Isles you can get The Undying. It also costs one more mana and is even more of a liability on defense than Ruthless Raider, but it's a permanent target not just for ping cards but for Noxian Fervor as well. Plus it can get bigger. You can also get Cursed Keeper for 2 mana.
Regarding Shared Spoils over Hawk, it depends on your early game defense. Shared Spoils works well with Crimson Disciple and other direct damage cards/skills. But Hawk almost does the same thing and can put a body on the board on turn 1.
@@iatwiatw Thanks for the thoughts. I'm also running disciples and braum, so it isn't really a tradeoff for those other "pingable" units in my case. I'm running a very heavy 2 drop curve (maybe too heavy, but I'm having some success and still tuning). Vlad's ability feels like an aggro ability to me, so I'm trying to find a deck with a low curve, in which case ruthless raider has been performing pretty well. I agree though, she is a bit fragile for a longer value game

I'm still trying to learn Card games like this so, if you could, when you are playing the deck explain your thinking more behind why you muligan or why you chose to play this card over this card. This is my main deck and Vlads weekness is that he is just a boring 5 drop. He needs at least 2-3 minions on board to make him interesting. By the time he gets on board a lot of your units will be close to dying but with very low hp and attacking with vlad is actually killing them and resulting in less dmg. My idea for vlad would be that his ability ''Crimson pact'' cannot kill your units, they don't go below 1 from his ability.

I think Vlad is also fine in a deck with Tough demacian units and Garen, maybe you should try that one out too :)
The best suggestion I see is having vlad be kind of like an ezreal where everytime a unit survives damage you deal damage to their nexus.
I think adding this while keeping him as is will create a huge pressure as he can finally be good on his own surviving with regeneration and slowly burning their nexus which is most likely already low from many noxus and self dmg burn effects (disciple, demolitionist). I think just 1 dmg to nexus on each survival OR 2 dmg but needing a level condition nerf (maybe 10 survives).
This would be a great midrange pressure to kill people before turn 9 when ez karma ect come online. This would synergize with Darius Aggro, Swain burning nexus, Sejuani and Plunder, as well as Braum.
Here is my favorite vlad deck. aggressive OTK often from me keeping a unit or 2 alive that just overwhelms with 15+ dmg CEBQEAQBAECQIAIDAYJSCLYEAEAQUDJDFUBQCAQDBABACAIEFYBACAYFGQAA

Can I see greenglade elder gameplay to its full potential use? Abusing the recalls and the retreats with him to make higher stats to zed or whoever will get advantage with it. I would like to see because many players don't play with him much. This would be an interesting idea

Huge fan of Vlad decks in general so I immediately gotta play this.
However it seems you run out of steam nearly every game, card draw is very lacking. Have you thought about Trifarian Assessor? With all the pump effects she can refill a hand pretty well, especially if Vlad is on the board alongside the 5/5 Crimson card.
Also if Omen Hawk hits her, she can ever draw a card off herself!

Hey, Mogwai. I was wondering what you thought about your Lux/Ashe deck you posted last month. I just started playing LoR and Lux and Ashe are the only champs I have a full playset of and was thinking about building your list. I was curious if it could be upgraded since I think was before the Bilgewater expansion. Also, are the cards too niche? Would they see play in a decent variety of decks? If you answer or anyone else that has experience with the deck, I'd really appreciate it.

Actually, looking at this deck, I had an idea that I don't have the money to put into action yet. But it was a deck built around Swain and Vladimir, which seemed like a good combo. You can level Swain by pinging your own units, which can ping your opponent, and etc.

Vlad's leveled up form could ping all other battling units when he attacks. Or give him lifesteal when he attacks.
I think a neat addition to Vladimir would be to also target the enemy units with his ability once he's leveled up. Maybe increase the requirement by one or two steps but still

It's funny that in the preview scene you can see the big and fat "DEFEAT" line. Poor Vlad. He was the hero I first got three copies of without ever crafting him and I never used him.

THANK YOUU, was wondering if you would re do this deck with the new stuff but yeah it just has too many common used counters. Any chances you could do a kalista zed ephemeral deck i actually built one recently focusing on early rushing, and finishing things off around turn 6-7 with all the ephemeral units zed and kalista can generate with their abbilities plus the sharks, i suck at deck building so what i got is probably bit messy.
So my one question is why use ember maiden over tarkaz the tribeless. With tarkaz you can keep him from effecting your units unless you want him to. Also he has a much stronger statline for 2 more mana
A buff to Vlad might be that once he levels up, his ability doesn't just affect his own side, but all other battling units.
