Finally this incredible talent gets the recognition he has deserved for 44 years - he had it all - unbelievable rythem player, soloist, singer - and gone way too soon. he let us look deep into his soul with every note that came out of him. So there must be something between heaven and earth if we are still talking about him here after 44 years and keeping his memories alive. matter passes but love remains and energy remains - and this man was pure energy and passion. RIP Big T your the Man
Terry played his Tele with such abandon. He really manhandled that axe. To have Michelle give her blessing to this recreation is very satisfying. I’m betting Fender will have an immediate backlog of orders on this special edition…
This is a long time coming for this Legend. Terry is the reason I picked up the guitar. Well deserved tribute to this monster of a player. Congrats Kath family.
Congrats Michelle and the Kath family. Michelle, your documentary about your Pop brought your father's legend back to life and let the world know your father's story. What an amazing film for Terry Kath and Chicago fans. He would have been so proud of you. Thank you Fender for recognizing Terry as well. To be gone for 44 years and have a custom shop guitar built in your name is an incredible recognition. This guitar will be sold out in record time I'm sure!
What they mean is we've always talked about it but no one knew where the guitars was. Its rad Terry is finally being recognized for the legend he is. He was not talked about and underrated for to many years while lesser players by magnitudes were talked up like they were gods. When Hendrix calls you the "best guitarist in the universe" thats saying something.
When I was working for Lee Michaels back in the late '60's, we played with CTA quite a few times. Terry blew my mind every night. It's hard to believe, but the stuff you never got to hear was the best stuff of all. In this clip the replica guitar sounds fantastic. He made all the right changes. I'd love to get my hands on one.
This is so good. I’d waiting years to see Michelle’s doco down here in Australia. I know we’re a long way away but Terry’s soul and Chicago still has a huge impact on my life. Every year they are no1 on my playlist. I’m always happy playing their music ❤
So glad someone is paying tribute to such a great player. Terry Kath was amazing I can listen to his playing for hours, he’s just amazing. I wish I could afford one but I hope they all go to good homes that will play them.
I don’t know how I came across the name Terry Katherine the other day on UA-cam, not being a Chicago fan but something made me look them up and I discovered what I think is the #1 best guitarist no one’s ever heard of (no, not you, Rory!) and I’m fascinated. Can’t wait to watch the movie his daughter made!
They finally did it, way to go Fender thank you! After watching the movie I thought Fender have to build this piece of history now that we have the original. And thank you Michelle, this guitar needed to be built!!! Congratulations Fender!!
That really is a beautiful guitar. I like what someone said about this being such an honor, and a tribute to him and his memory, so many years after we lost him. Definitely special.
Terry Kath is my favorite guitarist and the reason I started to play, I really hope they create a cheaper model like a brad paisley or chrissie hynde signature
I’ll probably never be able to own one but so glad they’ll be out there!!! I’m sure he’s smiling!!! Thank you for the loving tribute Michelle and Fender!!! ❤️ I hope they sell out!!!
Certainly nice to see that above all else Terry is being recognized here for the true icon that he was and still is! Thanks to his daughter for her persistence and drive. From the documentary and now this project, you can see she is a leader, just the same as her Father. I hope Fender built this with their ears as much as their hands, the original has very unique sound combinations that are not going to be duplicated with any old pickups or standard wiring. Can't wait to see more sound demo's to see how it compares.
the remaining original members of Chicago had talked about Terry at a show I worked hospitality for them and they had so many fun stories to share, awesome guitarist no doubt
Terry Kath was truly the BEST guitar 🎸 player that most younger generations don't know. Terry's daughter Michelle has such striking resemblance to her dad, albeit, she's feminine gooorgeous! I love the documentary she made titled: "The Terry Kath Experience." I enjoyed it very much, with a bit of nostalgia, and teary eyes.
This is such a cool guitar. I love how it tells you so much about the player in the way he modified it to do everything he needed it to. I'd love to get my hands on one.
I saw Chicago at Manhattan college with the Guess Who opening. I will never forget that concert. I just loved Terry's balls to the wall playing. Oh, what could have been.
I was so happy to see her find that Telecaster. I was shocked to see that blonde Strat with a gold anodized pickguard in the beat up tweed case. The 0003 serial number made my jaw drop. I’d love to see more on that.
Terry was always the best. Would love to have that guitar but can't afford it, like most of us. I wonder what that guitar will be worth years from now?
TERRY KATH IS ONE OF ALL BESTS GUITARRISTS ON THE WORLD... ISN'T A NEW THING, BUT EVEN THE JIMI HENDRIX WAS IMPRESSED ABOUT TERRY AS A GUITAR PLAYER AND SAID IT TO THE OTHERS MEMBERS OF CHICAGO: OH, TERRY IS BETTER THAN ME... SO, IF A GOD GUITAR DECLARED THIS ALIVE, TERRY KATH IS A GOD GUITAR TOO... NOT SO, INJUSTICED, RECOGNIZED FOR THE MIDIA, BUT FOR ME IS MY BIG GOD GUITAR IDOL... AND HE'S A MONSTER AS A SINGER TOO... I LOVE YOU FOREVER AND SO MUCH, TERRY KATH!!!! 🤘🏼😠🇧🇷❤️
Fender consistently amazes me with these types of guitars. And what do they top out at? 5,000? A fancy Gibson is 2,500, and it doesn’t have half the story these Fenders do. The attention to detail is simply astounding! I am not a rich man, so I will probably never be able to purchase a guitar like this. But they are a thing of beauty.
I have been almost getting to the point where I was thinking that no one was going to ever get to know the genius of The late Terry Karh other than the real fans and musicians. I immediately thought of the fact that I will never be able to own one is a bummer and unfortunately the only people for the most part who will own them will either be collectors or hopefully 🙏🏼 PLAYING MUSICIANS THAT WILL GET IT OUT AND PLAY IT WITH ALL THE FIRE AND INTENSITY AS TERRY. I AM SERIOUSLY NOT A EDUCATED FAN BUT UNTIL JUST A FEW YEARS AGO I HAD A CHANCE TO LISTEN TO THE GUITAR WORK ON THOSE PHENOMENAL SONGS AND ABSOLUTELY CLASSIC ROCK MUSIC I GREW UP ON. I NEVER REALLY THOUGHT ABOUT CHICAGO AND GUITAR WIZARDRY IN THE SAME BREATH BUT I AM SO GLAD I FINALLY DID. OBVIOUSLY THE NIGHT LISTENED TO THE REMAINING ORIGINAL MEMBERS PERFORM AT THE HOF INDUCTION AND THE FACT THAT THEY WERE NOT ALREADY IN THERE AND I WAS SHOCKED BUT SO PROUD TO BE AN OLD ROCK AND ROLLER WHEN THEY BLOWED THE DOORS OFF THE PLACE AND I WAS JUST SO SORRY THAT THE MAN HIMSELF WAS NOT THERE AND THAT THE WHOLE WORLD WAS MISSING OUT ON ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT GUITAR PLAYERS OF ALL TIME. THEN AGAIN, DOES ANYBODY REALLY KNOW WHAT TIME IT IS, DOES ANYONE REALLY CARE? I
@@chancemiller9340 They're literally $20,000 a piece and the Fender guy literally just said he's "not a big fan of wall hangers and hopes it will get out and get used" but he conveniently fails to mention they're only making 50. You can't even make this stuff up. Lol!
It’s awesome that she found this guitar. Upon finding it she also found a 54 strat #0003 that is white with a gold anodized guard. I’m curious to know if it is related to the David Gilmour #0001 strat since they were both white/gold guard and two digits apart. I know that Fender serials were not used in order of production but maybe they sought out the first few numbers and built them for namm or a trade show? Then again #0002 is a sunburst so I’m probably really reaching here.
My pockets are definitely not deep enough for a work of art like this but send one my way Fender!!! It will get played and cherished forever!!! #saturdayinthepark #chicago
Sadly these will wind up with a bunch of Nigel Tufnels owning them and keeping the price tag on them but talking about how they "cherish" them but they can "never be played". Lol!
If fender could keep the dream guitars under $1000 & all the U.S. made guitars around $500 then Fender would damn near put Gibson into eternal bankruptcy & make a lot of happy young people while they are growing up to be able to buy a quality instrument. You would think this would make more business sense. The lower the price + the higher the quality = more total revenue
So PRS makes a HUGE splash with the Silver Sky SE and all Fender has to answer with it is the Terry Kath telecaster? Wow. Yeah thats not inspiring anyone.
A more than fitting tribute to an overlooked genius. Unfortunately, with a limit of 50 units, and a sticker of $20K, few will get the privilege of owning one.
It's outrageous to think people will buy this. I will say though I've got the production model of the Jimmy Page Mirror Tele and it's awesome and retails for basically $2,500. Maybe they'll do something like this for this one?
Don’t get me wrong I love fender guitars the Stratocaster is my all-time favorite body shape but there’s no way any normal person is going to own one of these I know he doesn’t want them to become wall hangers but that’s exactly what they’re going to be because only rich people and Rockstars can afford them and you know damn well no one is going to take them out on tour or play them anywhere they’re going to sit somewhere and collect dust for a long time before anybody buys one so sad
Exactly! Nobody is going to be sitting around playing these guitars. They will.be absorbed into collections and surface for sale once and a while. Most will never be played.
I want one of these. But given financial means at this time, not possible. So will have to tinker with my Tokai Telecaster to get it looking somewhat similar.
Yeah, that would be great but Keith's no longer with Chicago and his broken arm had a lot to do with that, so "Keith playing a Limited Edition Terry Kath Telecaster on stage with Chicago" is never gonna happen, unfortunately :(
Isn't the price tag like 20,000? This is a cool tribute, but what common guitar player could ever own one of these? These American guitar companies need to get real a little bit. Unfortunately, I don't think Michelle gets the concept that this entire line of guitars is a collectible. Nobody is buying this guitar to use as an everyday player. Also Fender: get someone who can play a Chicago riff to demo this thing! Like, who is this guy playing folk shit on a Terry Kath replica?!?! You wanna see what a TK replica can really do? There are guys on youtube who have made their own replicas and actually riff Chicago on it. Go check those out.
I was lucky enough to see Terry play this guitar many times from the first couple of rows. The ultimate feather in Fender's cap.
