So...when our hero can barely catch a fish all day, he goes and lands himself a small boat. That was one unlucky bass as we could see you thinking about whether to keep it.👍🐟
Whether you catch everything or next to nothing (very rarely), you're always at the center of your videos. It's not the instruments or the screens speaking but a real and engaging description of what's going on above and below the waterline. I may never go wreck fishing again, particularly here in Paris, but your videos are every bit as interesting just the same.

That look on your face..to keep or not...was priceless...😂😂😂. I tried sending pics of turtles and manta ray through email I got with notice for merchandise but it came back as undeliverable
Great to see the etiquette of seafaring being put into action! I find it amazing that anyone with enough money can buy a boat and put out to sea with no qualification or understanding of the mariner’s code. I noticed in a few of your earlier videos boaters steaming past at speed with no consideration for other boaters. This ethos is drilled into students on RYA courses and no doubt in your RN days. Looked like a great day out on the boat though!
- That is it entirely. You do not need any qualifications at all to buy a boat and take it out for your own pleasure. Because of this you get all sorts out on the water. All bravado and no brains half the time. I have spent my entire working life on the ocean in one capacity or another so it comes as second nature. Take care mate and stay safe. 😊
I've been a carp angler for over 40 years but recently I'm becoming a bit disillusioned by it all, my mate has recently bought a boat and watching your videos has really inspired me to have a go. Excellent to watch and very informative.

Nice job. If someone is in trouble, you have to step up and toe the line, lol. A climbing rope makes a good towline - they have about 30% stretch potential. Keep up the good work.
Top stuff as always. You have really inspired me over the last couple of years. Got two new beach rods coming on tuesday and cant wait to get stuck in!
A hard days fishing! Im interested in how you cooked the Bass up in the end. my family prefers to steam it or wrap it in tinfoil and put it in the oven with a bit of butter, a squeeze of lemon and a dash of salt and pepper. They dont add too much seasoning because they want to taste the natural flavour of the fish when its cooked up and steaming or 'baking' it in tin foil retains the moisture which makes the fish so delicious!
I'd love to see you driving the boat to your next spots, I love seeing boats motoring along. Your boat is very good for a smaller boat, can't wait to see what you get when you do upgrade. I have a 24ft cathedral hull boat im working on at the moment, just got to paint the deck and install all new steering and throttle controls, its got an old Mercury 50hp 4 cylinder 2 stroke outboard. Definitely want to get a small spare engine to have on a drop down transom. I won't get it done now until spring now as I have a brain tumour. But im excited to get it in the water. It could do with the main beam on the trailer replacing as its not galvanised like the rest of the trailer. But ill get that done when the boat is moored up in falmouth in spring. Keep up the great work, I love watching during this lockdown, I also love watching you and your family enjoying fishing to. You are a great dad. Hope to see you on the water next year. Take care and all my best to the family.

Thirty whole minutes of calm John drifting on the waves and the gentle rattle of tackle? My you're spoiling us! It really looks like a lovely day out on the water there, and this is the perfect background to put on as I cook up a very special meal. I'm far inland, so I don't often get fresh seafood, but an uncle of mine recently went on a fishing trip to the coast, so I have some wonderful fresh fish and shrimp to cook up today; I might just have to use some of your recipes!
Another class video. Worked for your fish. Managed in choppy sea. Kept us informed. Always feels like I'm there. Went to the assistance of a fellow boater. Well done. And for a while I forgot all the stress and pain of every day life. For that I thank you. 👏👍👌
- Having been in enough situations in my life I do feel that things do often happen as they should. I could have sacked it off early because the fishing was hard work but I wouldn't have had that fish and wouldn't have been there to help those lads.
lots of unexpected events turned this one into a real exciting adventure and at the end of the day, you did a very good deed for a stranger which was great to watch. Thank you for all that you do
Awesome. So happy you are living the life you enjoy. You bring great entertainment to all of us. So much fun for us to get away from our daily lives with you.
thanks for another great video, it wouldn't be fun it was the same fishing every day you go out. when you have to change tactics and mix things up , think differently to fish according to the area and conditions is what makes it enjoyable ... and then pack up fishing to help someone out .
- Thats it isn't it. Never 2 days the same and it gets you thinking. I enjoy the challenge. I am glad that you enjoyed joining us and have a wonderful week. 😊
Amazing how a perfect day can suddenly turn into a nightmare when you engine won’t start. Fair play for towing them in and catching that stunning bass.
You said it in the video mate that’s just fishing,Some days it’s none stop and others isn’t , all the same it was a great video, the bass was beautiful mate I hope you enjoy it you definitely deserve it. I know it goes without saying that you never leave anyone stranded at sea but some people might not know that so I’m glad you put it in the video and how to do it probably and safely. Cheers John.
@@TheFishLocker indeed sir. Used to match fish as a junior and one winter match (low water level and very cold) I stuck at it didn't start catching till 7.5hrs into a 8hr match, ended up winning :-) I just love being out :-)

Another great video John that’s fishing as we all know some days you can’t do anything wrong while catching other days you can’t do anything right when the fish are not biting 🎣🙂
If there was ever a right time for you to keep a bass for the table that was definitely it, well deserved hope you and your family enjoyed it. Well done on the rescue and as always great video John 😉
@@TheFishLocker that would be great, look forward to see how you make the most of it though the flavour and texture of the meat is probably enough especially a fresh one caught on the hook, in a couple of weeks fingers crossed I'll back on the beach and I'll let you know how we go. As always learnt something from your videos. I've been looking into a new rod and reel and know you have done some reviews already as I've watched them but how do you choose a rod with all the new jargon out there about 40 ton carbon 24 ton ect I have done some research myself and have a basic grasp of it now but I'm interested in your thoughts on statistics of rods and what you look for. Sorry to pick your brain but trust your honest opinion? 😁
@@casaanimalia7809 - When choosing new tackle I very rarely go looking in catalogues etc. I ask people. I ask what they are using and what is wrong with what they have etc.
Well done, John, can't catch loads of fish every trip. Wouldn't be such fun if you could. My tame charter skipper, after a good days fishing in August with us on board rescued a boat about the size of the one you towed. Had a worried little family onboard. He rigged up, with not much help from us, the same 2 point tow, and as we got closer in, a side by side tow with a spring line. As you say, calmness is the key. Well done.
Those conditions and scenery have me desperate to make another adventure down that way. Beautiful silver cornish bar thanks for another fantastic video 👌
- Don’t mate. Seeing the recent vids from you and the big man on those bass shoals just gives me goosebumps. Would not only love to get a rod bent into them but would love to see the spectacle from beneath the waves!! Must be totally awe inspiring. 😍🐟
I've just watched this and from Market to hatchery back to back. I found them both really interesting and really enjoyable. Its good to get to view the depth and variety your knowledge, with the enthusiasm to share it yet again. Thank you 😁👍
- Thank you Lee. I hope that I what sets our channel apart from the others who try to do what we do. Our range of content and depth of knowledge shows this is our passion and how invested we are in it. Not simply that we make videos for views.
Great vlog John, when I and my father had boats either one of us would have been very happy with a fish like that as I'm sure you are,i couldn't agree more about some one in need takes precedence over every thing as it could be life saving and its comforting to know that if it ever happens to you you can count on anyone being near,we had boats for 15 years and we helped several people in need and once were rescued ourselves so I know what it's like at both ends, any how stay safe and cheers.👍
- That is exactly it and something sadly that is being lost with "modern boaters" when someone is in trouble that takes priority. This isn't the first time I have towed someone in and I dare say it won't be the last. But I would rather that any day than us losing a fellow angler knowing I could have done something to help.
- Francis, it is my absolute pleasure. We are simply doing our best to keep peoples spirits up. I do truly hope that our videos may provide even a short positive distraction for people during these difficult times. Take care and welcome to our channel. 😊
Good one John! That certainly was a good weather window, even if there was a swell running at times - it looked like it was July or August! Some of that 1st batch of big Mackerel would have been coming home for tea, never mind Bait! I was chuckling watching your face when you first held up the lovely Bass - I could see your brain working, and thought there was a 50/50 chance it might be heading for Spargo's kitchen! Well done on towing the guy in that had broken down - it shows the importance of having the correct gear (in this case radios), useful info on towing another boat, and there is Karma involved. God forbid the same ever happened to you, hopefully someone would come to your rescue, as you did for the other guy. Thanks mate - Stay safe & well. 👍👍
- Haha. You could see there was real deliberation going on when that bass hit the deck couldn't you. That is it mate, I didn't need to help out but it was the right thing to do. And I would hope that someone would help me out if I was ever in that position. Take care mate. 😊
There are good days and bad days, but that day you were out there to help that guy get in safely! Bravo to you! And you got a really nice bass to boot! So all in all I'd say a pretty good day. (Of course, a nice hefty Blue Fin would've made for a totally Awesome day!! Haha! :) ) Thanks again for another great video!
Another cracking video John. Would have liked to have seen you bring in yet another Blue Fin, but like you said, "that's fishing", must have got the adrenaline going though. What a cracking days fishing, and an added bonus of a well deserved supper 👍👍
Great videos as always bud. Cheers from Canada. You have to try a thing we call back trolling in a current or wind. You can use your motor to go in reverse to keep up with your jig. The trick to this is to keep your lure ,jig ,verticle . I use my electric motor to keep strait up and down to keep my jig vertical at all times. You don`t have to worry about wind ,current or boat drift. It works awesome and very effective . Give it a try .You will take control of your boat and not at the mercy of the tide or wind. Cheers again from Canada.
- I do that exact thing when out on the wrecks in deeper water. The engine noise in shallow water I feel is too much. An electric motor would be perfect.
Great video again john .... crazy day for you all that work then the bass come like buses 🤣and then a blue fin on the retrieve... wow That's the Maniacal's for you ..... you just never know what that place will throw up 😉 Well done john enjoy that bass yummy
Beautiful day and a good sized bass. I’d have been happy with the mackerel ! Every time you catch something I start thinking recipes. Can’t beat a fresh bass steamed with white wine and a dash of garlic and a few veg!
Gorgeous day. The sun beaming across the water was breath taking. The was one of those sea sick videos but awesome as always. God Bless to you and the family. Stay safe and well.
Great Video! A neat way of unhooking a mackerel from a sabiki rig is to take a butter knife and put the blunt edge into the bite of the hook, turn it upside down and the fish falls off into the bucket :)

Loved your video John. Nice bass. Very nice to see you help someone in need. Stay safe Fish Locker family. 💋

I can bearly hook one fish and he gets like 5 at once.
- Haha. I’m just lucky. 😊👍🏻🐟
Wow you guys are so lucky. Beautiful cold weather.
- We consider ourselves very fortunate. 😊👍🏻🐟
That wasn't game pullen by any chance
- No it wasn't. It was a local lad. 😊
My thoughts too.
Lucky it weren't Graeme or your previous meeting with him may have swayed you toward a bit of squid lol

Another class video. Worked for your fish. Managed in choppy sea. Kept us informed. Always feels like I'm there. Went to the assistance of a fellow boater. Well done.
And for a while I forgot all the stress and pain of every day life. For that I thank you. 👏👍👌
Thanks Ian, not every day can be an easy day! it was worth it in the end and I am glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching 👍👍
Love seeing a chuckle from the fish locker 👋👋
😁
Well that was an action packed day out !! Fate's a strange thing, right place at the wrong time ,or the other way round !!!
- Having been in enough situations in my life I do feel that things do often happen as they should. I could have sacked it off early because the fishing was hard work but I wouldn't have had that fish and wouldn't have been there to help those lads.
Great video John really enjoyed it, as you said it's just a day on the boat and you never know what's going to happen! 😉🎣🛥👍
- Thats it mate. Never a dull day and no two the same. Tight lines bud 😊
Full of surprises, it's what sets your videos apart from the crowd, keep 'em coming.👍
- It shows that it is all honest mate. Simple, honest and original is all we are after. 😊
lots of unexpected events turned this one into a real exciting adventure and at the end of the day, you did a very good deed for a stranger which was great to watch. Thank you for all that you do
- Thats what it’s all about mate. Shows the video is honest and when someone’s in trouble you help out. Take care mate and stay safe. 😊👍🏻🐟
Awesome. So happy you are living the life you enjoy. You bring great entertainment to all of us. So much fun for us to get away from our daily lives with you.

Lovely bass and good on you John for going straight to the boat , get back out for those Tuna !!!!!
- Haha. There have been a lot more Tuna about this year. 👍
Thank you again for sharing your adventures with us. You really make my day
- It really is our pleasure. 😊
Very nice day out, what a guy, saves the day and catches a nice fish too. Those guys were lucky you were out there to help them out. Thumbs up!
Thank you Harry glad you enjoyed it, the cooking part will be up tonight! 👍
thanks for another great video, it wouldn't be fun it was the same fishing every day you go out. when you have to change tactics and mix things up , think differently to fish according to the area and conditions is what makes it enjoyable ... and then pack up fishing to help someone out .
- Thats it isn't it. Never 2 days the same and it gets you thinking. I enjoy the challenge. I am glad that you enjoyed joining us and have a wonderful week. 😊
ANY day fishing is a good day, tight lines. stay safe and thank you.
Thats right Mike! Thanks for watching 👍
Your enthusiasm shines through thank you
- It is our pleasure Joe. We are simply sharing what we know and love doing. Best wishes and have a great day. 😊
Amazing how a perfect day can suddenly turn into a nightmare when you engine won’t start. Fair play for towing them in and catching that stunning bass.
- Aye Mike. It’s never a nice position to be in is it. That’s why anyone will agree, when someone is in bother you help out. 😊👍🏻
- 100% Gaz, some days it’s great. Some days it’s hard work. 🤷🏻♂️ I hope the clips about the tow help folks out. It shows the videos are honest. 😉👍🏻🐟

Glad you enjoyed it Rick 👍
Good man, a few brownie points with the boating gods :-) and a nice bass for tea.
- Positive mindset and positive actions lead to good things my friend. 😊💙
@@TheFishLocker indeed sir. Used to match fish as a junior and one winter match (low water level and very cold) I stuck at it didn't start catching till 7.5hrs into a 8hr match, ended up winning :-)
I just love being out :-)
Hello/ Capt'n John saves the day. For two seconds when i saw the yellow boat i thought it was Graeme Pullen on High Sea Drifter then i saw no totally aweome fishing stickers and the boats name. Now that would have been a viral video !! Lol. Well done and all the Best. Stay healthy and stay safe.
Haha Yes a few people thought that at first glance! Have a great week and all the best 👍
Another great video John that’s fishing as we all know some days you can’t do anything wrong while catching other days you can’t do anything right when the fish are not biting 🎣🙂
- Thats it Lawrence. Some days are just hard work aren't they. 😊
I thought that was Graham pullens boat for a second, from totally awesome fishing 😂
- Haha. No this was a local lad.😊
Thx again for another great video. Good on you for the assist for the boat in trouble.
- Its what its all about Leo. When someone is in trouble you help out. 😊
If there was ever a right time for you to keep a bass for the table that was definitely it, well deserved hope you and your family enjoyed it. Well done on the rescue and as always great video John 😉
- Thank you very much. I did deliberate when it came aboard, it was delicious and hopefully there is a catch and cook video coming up soon.👍

Another cracking video John, and a good example of the responsibilities of being on the sea, well done, oh nice bass 😁
Thanks John, have a great week 👍

- Just doing what I thought was the right thing to do. 😊
@@TheFishLocker 100% lives are priceless and if the boot was on the other foot.
Well done.
- Thats it mate. Not every day is a red letter day. As for the towing and any other issues at sea it really is best to stay calm and assess. 😊
Nice catches...a chunk pouting, a bass and a boat lol
- Haha. Yep. Caught myself a new PB boat. lol. 😊
Another cracking video!! Thank you for being so, so kind! Your videos are always brilliant! Thanks for making my lockdown a whole lot better 😊
- Francis, it is my absolute pleasure. We are simply doing our best to keep peoples spirits up. I do truly hope that our videos may provide even a short positive distraction for people during these difficult times. Take care and welcome to our channel. 😊
Brilliant. You lost the tuna but became a literal fisher of men. =) Good times.
- Haha. Yeah, caught a new PB boat on the way home. lol.
Another great video, very enjoyable. Good to see how you towed that boat in to... because you never know!
- Thats true mate. You never know 😊
Top man for the tow in for the stranded boat. Nice sized bass, and I could tell you were going to take that one home. Always tomorrow for the tuna.
- Haha. You could see when it came aboard that there was a moment of deliberation. Haha. 😊
@@TheFishLocker Exactly. Stood out a mile. Hope it tastes good.

Nice one John boat recovery service and awkward fish to catch apart from bass 👍🏻🇬🇧
- Thanks Mark. Some days its just not your day 😊
Ah jeez man. That is a proper string!!! That was amazing!

Another ace video mate, not too many fish but a bit of drama with the blue fin and rescue! looking forward to your next adventure.
- Thank you David. I am glad you enjoyed joining me. 😊👍🏻🐟
Haha! :) )
Thanks again for another great video!
- Any day when you get out and get home again safe is a good day. The fishing is just a bonus. 😊
Another cracking video John. Would have liked to have seen you bring in yet another Blue Fin, but like you said, "that's fishing", must have got the adrenaline going though.
What a cracking days fishing, and an added bonus of a well deserved supper 👍👍
- Thanks Anthony, today just wasn't my day mate. haha. Theres always next time. 😊
Great video again john .... crazy day for you all that work then the bass come like buses 🤣and then a blue fin on the retrieve... wow
