- Elsa Dreisig from France (soprano) sings "Bel raggio lusinghier" from Semiramide by Rossini in the semifinal concert of NEUE STIMMEN 2015.
The semifinal was accompanied by the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra, lead by the English conductor Graeme Jenkins.
Recorded on October 22, 2015 in Gütersloh, Germany.

Why is there such a hate for female singers in the music industry? Yep, she is a soprano AND WHAT? She feels comfortable singing this rep and she does it well SO WHY SO MUCH HATE? She can sing whatever the hell she wants!
Of course she can sing whatever she wants. Just as I, a tenor, could sing Sarastro's arias if I wanted. It would not be very successful, but I can if a want to.

Great voice.
honestly, I don't get people. This singer is great: beatiful tone, great musicality, good legato coloratura, good flexibility between the registers. She is on a higher level than many famous mezzos (cough cough Bartoli)

I believe she has a great mezzo voice with a high extension. Or something.
And a lot of potential.
But I don't think this piece was a good choice. And it isn't sung very well. Measured at a high standard. Sure. Measured at an average persons standard she sings this amazingly.
But measured at the goal standard any singer should have this isn't good enough. If sung in recital or at a contest, this is a show-off aria with many vocal tricks which demand technical proficiency. If you do it, do it well. Anderson, Sutherland,
I believe she should remain in her comfortable mezzo range and carefully but sustainably grow a stronger high extension. Here it sounds not well resonated and strained.
I love her voice and hope she has a healthy and solid development and career ahead.
And I believe you have no idea about voices. She is not even close to a MEZZOS SORPANO. She is just a normal lyric soprano.
Cecilia Bartoli is much better!

CRAZY COW HOW ABOUT NOT SINGING BEL CANTO. MORE LYRIC ROLES ETC. What do you think? I agree there is a voice there. Just a bad choice. She won the competition. That Bass baritone from Belarus is also great. A Portuguese coloratura shows promise as well. I just don't think she's totally dedicated I don't blame her she seems too intelligent has other interest Etc not being partial no we're not related just making an observation thank you for the website I really enjoyed it will look at your other websites as well. There's a great voice somewhere in there. Needs more polish and experience. But why are the orchestra players making faces behind her? The two oboe players and the French horn player are laughing and pulling faces. Very unprofessional.

Starts good but goes off the breathe and stays off the breathe for most of the piece.
Orchestra to loud and rushing!!! She needs to set the pace. She does not have the vocal or mental chops for this aria yet. Great voice but I would stick to Mozart for at least 5-7 years then pull this out and try it.
Gene Leonard why should she stick to Mozart for a while, in your opinion? What do you mean by that? Do you think she is too light? Or maybe too Mozartienne?
