Loved that the Wagon won, but I also loved that the guy with the McLaren was humble and took his loses like a man and didn't shit talk or look down on the other guy. Both great people.
Sucks for the McLaren, the only good race for him was when launch control worked. But a twin turbo is also going to get heat soaked, whereas an NA car isn't affected by it as much. Last race proves it, got the hit and didn't have the power to reel in the wagon after he got passed.

@@apashe974 it's a delay box used for top bulb bracket racing. So on a Christmas tree for drag racing you let go of the transbrake button when the first amber light comes on. Then the delay box will delay the car leaving until whatever time the driver put in the box runs out. The goal being to have the car leave exactly when the green light is coming on.

It has its full interior (front and rear bench seats, dash, door panels, carpet, rear cargo trim, etc). Also, for “purpose built”, all it has is a couple cheap bolt on suspension parts (Summit being the cheap “generic” brand, essentially like Walmart cola). With the cheap 3 way shocks, it can easily be switched to 50/50 and cruise the street with no issues. Plus, the wagon has less power and more weight. The 765 even has a traction advantage, thanks to being mid engine and having 305mm (12”) wide tires. This is a non-debatable point since only the wagon broke loose thanks to being nose heavy and having 9” wide slicks.
Confusing outcome, but lots of fun watching. The 765LT is a mid 9 second car in the 1/4 mile.. The wagon "said" he was only low 10's... so either the wagon guy was lying like crazy or something is off with the 765.... (yes I know he wasn't on launch control for 2 runs but did get the hit so...)
Most races in Europe have something called 'corners'. The wagon is fast in a straight line , but if it was a race, like any racing in europe , then the wagon would still be on the way to the bar, while the McLaren , would be already sitting at the bar ordering his second pint.
My grandfather had a 1978 Ford Fairmont that had a naturally aspirated 302 shoehorned into it at the factory, and that thing had insane acceleration without any tuning at all. Station wagons are underrated as performance cars :)

@@Elmo6855 you should check out that new tesla model S plaid or whatever its called. It has a 0-60 in under 2 seconds because of a weird launch control but to activate it, it takes like 8 minutes i think because is has to warm/cool the different components first. Kinda pointless at that point
Fantastic episode! Loving the cars, drivers and the jokes! Good sportsmanship all around and good times. This also showed why I love older cars over the new tech even though it's freaking lovely to have, but when a computer tells you that you can't drive/use your car the way you want to, that is a major no no for me :D

It could have launched every time, the owner just doesn't know how to start it up. It's a little sad but there tends not to be a great correlation between people who can afford these cars and people who can drive them well. It's even worse with hypercars

My first car was an 83 Pontiac Bonneville Wagon, always wanted to build it up to be a monster wagon like this. Been 20 years and I still regret selling it.
That was a pleasant surprise. I thought for sure the McLaren would mop up, but a well-thought-out drag racer is a very fast beast in a straight line. It launched well, and its driver knew what he was doing. Well played!
That Malibu driver won it, way more experience and skill, the Malibu is freaking awesome too. The McLaren driver let that car down big time, didn't know how to drive it at all.

I love wagons man! I have an'07 Ford Focus wagon with a built 2.5, 5-speed swap, cams, ported/polished, header, full aftermarket exhaust, test pipe, 91 tune, you name it. N/A all motor and 2520 pounds with me in it with 1/2 tank gas. Looks completely unassuming other than wheels/tires and lowering springs. I pissed off a few scat-paks and I got mopped by a Camaro with full bolt-ons.
All in all it was good. The wagon was pretty impressive but at the same time the guy in the 765 really had no idea how to launch his car. If it were Brooks or a really driver would’ve been a totally different story.

Funny how even though most reviewers praise launch control rarely have I seen a video where in practice it works more than 40% of the time (non electric). And I feel like I'm being pretty generous with that number. Great content y'all keep killin it!!

@@Elmo6855 you should check out that new tesla model S plaid or whatever its called. It has a 0-60 in under 2 seconds because of a weird launch control but to activate it, it takes like 8 minutes i think because is has to warm/cool the different components first. Kinda pointless at that point

Fantastic episode! Loving the cars, drivers and the jokes! Good sportsmanship all around and good times. This also showed why I love older cars over the new tech even though it's freaking lovely to have, but when a computer tells you that you can't drive/use your car the way you want to, that is a major no no for me :D

One of the best episodes yet. Can someone with more supercar knowledge than me explain why the McLaren couldn't use launch control every time? Seems you pay that much for a car that feature should work anytime you want it to. That wagon is awesome.
It could have launched every time, the owner just doesn't know how to start it up. It's a little sad but there tends not to be a great correlation between people who can afford these cars and people who can drive them well. It's even worse with hypercars

My first car was an 83 Pontiac Bonneville Wagon, always wanted to build it up to be a monster wagon like this. Been 20 years and I still regret selling it.
765LT is one of my top favorite cars but that wagon driver's reaction speed is just spot on 👌
That was a pleasant surprise. I thought for sure the McLaren would mop up, but a well-thought-out drag racer is a very fast beast in a straight line. It launched well, and its driver knew what he was doing. Well played!

That Malibu driver won it, way more experience and skill, the Malibu is freaking awesome too. The McLaren driver let that car down big time, didn't know how to drive it at all.

I think it would be cool but I feel like "best driver" can win with way worse cars like that. It's also true in drag racing for sure but I think it's even more true for other kinds of racing as far as making a slower car best a faster one

I love wagons man! I have an'07 Ford Focus wagon with a built 2.5, 5-speed swap, cams, ported/polished, header, full aftermarket exhaust, test pipe, 91 tune, you name it. N/A all motor and 2520 pounds with me in it with 1/2 tank gas. Looks completely unassuming other than wheels/tires and lowering springs. I pissed off a few scat-paks and I got mopped by a Camaro with full bolt-ons.
The best grocery getter with the family together......that's totally America... 😂

All in all it was good. The wagon was pretty impressive but at the same time the guy in the 765 really had no idea how to launch his car. If it were Brooks or a really driver would’ve been a totally different story.
@@marceljohnson2215 when he mentioned that he has to drive a mile before using launch control again got me confused because Brooks has launched his 765lt on and on with no problems, well I guess it has to do with temperature or something

I've seen the 765lt run 9.37 the 1/4 mile, it was faster but chevy did the job, great race and the competitors where respectful

That McLaren is nice and all, but I'll tell you this, if I spent $400k on a car and it gave me that much trouble with launch control and track mode, I'd be taking that shit back to the dealership asap.
