Can I make a request? Dirk Campbell had a tune on an old album called “Were you at the rock?” It’s on iTunes music, but not UA-cam, it appeared on an old children’s tv programme years ago called the Storyteller about a character “Fear not” who played the violin and that tune to an underwater siren attempting to drown him. would love to hear you play it. Also so I can learn it too.
Hup Monsignor Scahill, so the long and short of it, I met ye both at Scanners 40th and I said hi wearing a purple wig - not sure if it was sitting right when I chatted to ye. Fair enough - hadn't seen ya in years but it was through Fergal O'Dea when myself and Treasa (Mayo whistler but we wont hold that against her) moved to Galway in 2003 (yikes) after touring and we used to play mighty tunes. Well you more than me. Anyway, sin mise and was mentioning that John Doherty was my grand uncle - as in the profile pic with mum at his album launch in Glenties when he was 89 -what a man! Anyway hope both of ye are keeping well and sorry I didn't get chatting to Ruth so maybe some day!! Really well done for all of the tunes you had been doing daily - might be at yer album launch when you're 89! Don't worry - I'm a bit older so I'll be rocking up in a wheelchair with my fiddle in hand and rocking a purple wig!
Hi Fergal, great playing as ever. FYI It's a common mistake to pronounce it Whalley, I even grew up saying Whalley when it is in fact pronounced Whalley, not Whalley. Hope that helps ;)
There's a village close by to my home town with the same name it's pronounced wall-E, I'm from clitheroe Lancashire England, the local session is at the new inn on parson lane, every second Sunday, best session in the North garunteed, If your ever in town. Sam. 👍

I used to live a short walk from Whalley Range. It's a district of Manchester and is pronounced "Wolley". I said farewell to it 40 years ago 😆
Farewell to Wolly Range is how it sounds
Hahaha. We pronounce Whaley = Wally - Wally Range
