Merci beaucoup !
Nice dedication to the genre - commendable. Just a note though that Soukous bass playing involves a 4-string bass instrument played with percussive/ghost sounds regularly marked with the left-hand thumb on the low E, and the right hand thumb. While I see how this may be done differently, I feel like the the conventional way of doing it may have tonal significance that cannot be overlooked.
Thanks ! You are absolutely right about the 4 strings and the ghost notes ! I had no 4 strings bass at that time. Later I did other songs with a 4strings (except for the last one 😅). Though i'm aware that i'm far from being a specialist of soukous bass playing, and i think i don't mark these ghost notes enough yet. But love it and still working on it 😉 (sorry, i'm not a specialist of english too😅)
Yes, would you have the link of the clip ? (I didn't find it) I'd love to see it ! Though : There's many ways to play the same notes on a bass, so of course it's possible that i don't play exactly the same way. I just tried to play the same rythms & notes ! (example, the same high E would be on the 9th fret of the G string or on the 14th fret of the D string...) He plays it on a four strings, I play it on a 5 strings. He probably use the thumb of his left hand for the bass notes, I cannot do it on a 5 strings bass, my hands are too small ^^ If it is an official clip, with dance, landscapes etc, you can be sure that the video of the musicians are not synchronized with the music, except for the singing ^^
