The brunch meetup idea sounds so fun! Would definitely love to go. 😊Also your description of the current leadership is a mood hahaha hoping the election brings much needed change. 😂
The politically safe question did not age well at all lmao-- but thanks for the info!! I'm looking into moving to DC for grad school and this was super helpful and informational!! :)
Born and raised in the DMV, I’m glad you like the area but I’m really happy I moved away. But love visiting my friends and family once and a while. Thanks for sharing ❤️
probably an unpopular opinion: I hated living in dc. the people I met were not nice, and were not interested in getting to know people not working in politics. this was just my personal experience, but I had a terrible two years and finally left
i always wait for your video on sundays and sometimes get upset that it doesn't appear in my subscriptions lol. but your videos are always always always always worth the extra day
I grew up in the DMV but have since moved back to LA and would literally fly across the country for a meet up with you! Your channel is so relaxing and I loooove the content! Also cheeto crusty ass is the most accurate description that I've heard LOL 💀
I love DC too. I liked your answer to how to explore the city without going crazy. I have to budget myself but I just want to be able to see and experience everything in this city (during normal times I mean).
@@amyrauch Even DuPont? I think my next place is going to be out there. I am from inner-city Detroit and felt NoMa was worse than my neighborhood back home. I really don't see why anyone in their right mind would choose to live there unless they did not know any better (like me). Could hear bullets multiple times a month from my apartment in a gentrified part of the neighborhood (Which often resulted in deaths). I would advise anyone to stay out of that shit part of the city.
I've also felt very unsafe in noma. of course bad things happen anywhere, but there are significantly fewer shootings and muggings in Dupont than in noma. the crime stats are all publicly available online. However dupont is usually more expensive than noma so I get that's not an option for everyone.
Would totally love to go to the brunch meet up! I grew up in NoVa and am moving back to the area in October. You were also one of the youtubers that influenced me to start my own channel 💛
So true about being present on the internet. A great approach to it. I also focus on the people close to me rather than all the comments that come in. Focus on what I can control 😊😁
Would be so excited if you did a meet up ! You could do one at Proper 21 😊 Metro stops I don’t recommend late at night by yourself: Anacostia and GreenBelt Safe Metro stops late at night I recommend: silver line heading west passing through DC, orange line & blue line.
Amy hiii :) Love watching these types of videos - I’m always curious to see how similar or different life is! I always get a little jealous, getting around is so much easier in America in comparison to South Africa - definitely from an ease and safety point of view :) How cool would your meet up have been!? Would you consider like a virtual/zoom vibe? Like Afternoons with Amy, especially for us who are in different areas or out of country. We can all join with a coffee, chat and hopefully see Leo! Have a great week! :D
i live an hour away from DC and i think it's my favorite American city! if i don't end up living in europe next year i hope to move to DC :) also i would SOOOO come to the brunch meet up!!!
Washington DC is a great place to be for career minded people and not so bad for foodies either. Navy Yard is prime but Columbia Heights is a high crime area.
Watching your video for advice since I have a possible job opening in our nation's capital. It's hilarious to hear you talk about how secure the capital/capitol is before we witness some infamous events unfold 3 months later. Hope you're doing well
I'm considering moving to DC next year for grad school, but don't really know if I'll like it (I live in Berlin now for comparsion). Thanks for your perspectives!
This video, as a whole, was great😂 would love to see a part 2!
ahh okay yay!!

I’m currently staying in north west DC. I was told this is the nice area of DC. I hate it. I can’t wait to leave in 7 weeks

im a college senior in dc and a brunch meetup would be so fun!

Agree about Dupont. Do not recommend Noma, lots of shootings in the area. Navy Yard is safe and great
there are shootings in basically every neighborhood in dc lol, theres good and bad streets everywhere!!
