As we enter the final stretch of 2023, we want to congratulate a Coast Guard member who showcased what it is to be Semper Paratus throughout this year and exemplified what it means to be the best heckin’ boy in the U.S. Armed Forces.
Of course, we speak of Buda, a Coast Guard K9 who won the American Humane Hero Dog Awards in the military category!

Army veteran from the PNW here.
There are towns out here where every single person is related to someone the USCG has pulled out of the drink or off of a mountain at one time or another. While I have the stereotypical competitiveness with other branches that any old geezer veteran has, I have a lot of respect for the Coasties. Theirs is a demanding, difficult, and often thankless job. And they go out in weather that'd make Santa Claus stay home.
I hope that all the Coasties watching this will accept a sincere and respectful tip of the Stetson from an old cavalryman old enough to be your father or grandfather.

When the Coast Guard MEs ( Maritime Enforcement Specialists ) of MSRT wear Army, Air Force, Space Force, and Marine Raider- issued Organizational Camouflage Pattern ( OCP) Uniforms ,and, teams up with Buda, it tells Me, John Rodriguez, a Former Marine Corps Army Enlisted Veteran, that, the United States Coast Guard ( USCG, U.S. Department of Homeland Security) has elevated Itself in Badassery.
