The more albums they create, the more music they write, the more concerts they play, the more their fanbase grows. Symphony X is simply the greatest thing to happen to metal music since Iron Maiden in the 80's. Symphony X ... the current kings of the metal world!
I miss the neo-classical elements Symphony X used to put into their music, and the structure of their songs were much more progressive and unique. With that said, I still really like the two songs they've released and can't wait for the new album!

I love Malmsteen, he is a major influence but Michael is so much more vast in his structure, melody, his style..!
I dare say that Malmsteen could never come up with such a heavy wicked riff like THIS!
When Yngwie trys to sound heavy/scary, it dosn't quite come out like THIS heavy rhythm Romeo plays here. This song is so heavy bottom ended and reminds me of Queensryche I AM I in its heaviness! Way to GO SX!!!!!
russels voice just continues to get better, hes so fucking intense and raspy but at at the same time clean, the first time he says im dehumanized he dosent even sound human

I think Symphony X has the best melodic/metal/power sound. No matter what they keep it to the roots with some powerful rock roll. And not rock as in alternative and pop what its known for today. But I mean the idea as if it where the 70s-90s and you where to say: "I listen to rock".

ICONOCLAST is probably my favorite Symphony X album, PERIOD. They kick so much ass on this album, it doesn't even seem humanly possible. All you whiners out there need to shut the hell up. This is the most powerful Symphony X to date. These guys are a METAL BAND! Never forget that. If you don't like metal, don't listen! This new album raises the bar yet again, for what this incredibly talented group of guys can achieve. Just when I think I heard it all... the blow me away once again!

While Dream Theater is out there making soap operas based on their search for another drummer, Symphony X is making great prog.

All I can say is... CHILDREN OF A FACELESS GOD! Just because this album has not been released yet, doesn't mean people haven't heard it. I can tell you, it's worth the wait. It's SO WORTH IT. It is absolutely incredible from start to finish. AMAZING!

I read on another forum that the vocals are like Dio on steroids. Ronnie James was the dog's bollocks and I reckon Symphony X tops it. I reckon this new album is better than anything that DT have put out. OK, maybe not, but it's f*****g close. Big respect lads. Excellent stuff.

i bet some of the people that don't like the new direction of SX probably said during their older albums "i wish they'd do something a little more intense and expand". this is a very good new direction and now we all have the pleasure to listen a whole evolution of Symphony X. bands that have the EXACT same sound for 15+ years get a little tedious

Think about it like this:
There a million ways to say one thing, and they just happened to lack any inspiration to say those two particular lines in a more intelligent or clever way. The line coming directly after "nothing you can do" goes:
"Just a cut above the sacred, new blood"
Wouldn't you say that has a bit more power to it? It's just how things turned out. Yes, they could have spent another 2 hours or whatever looking through the lyrics and cross referencing a thesaurus...
@avprox777 Portnoy just wanted to take a break for a little bit. I think he had every right since he's been working with DT for over 25 years. So he toured with A7X for one year just to help them out and when Portnoy was ready to go back, DT turned their back on him
This album confirms my worst fears - that Symphony X are continuing to develop the sound they established on Paradise Lost. But I have decided to approach them almost as a different band. Lately, I've been playing Paradise Lost again and it's really grown on me. I might be able to get into this album. Good lord, do I want to - It's Symphony X after all.
