Best metal band of all time. They have it all. No bad albums, strong concepts, classical, heavy and progressive. Incomparable musicianship. Awesome vocals, terrific live.
I would disagree. "Underworld" is indeed a masterpiece and I consider it to be one of the greatest metal albums, but every song by symphony x until this album sounds almost the same. I would give that title to "Dream Theater". They aren't as heavy, but sure are a lot more melodic than any other band in metal history.

Erick Eguigurens I appreciate the idea, but I disagree. Symphony X has always been, at least to me, a band anchored by Michael Romeo giving the impression that he is soloing through the song like a virtuoso and rhythm guitars may ruin it a bit. Beside, I think we should leave some rooms for two michael's bass and keys ;)

Michael Romeo is Chuck Norris of the guitar playing. He is insane, awesome, fantastic! Russell Allen is one of the best vocalist in the world and the rest of the band members are incredible musicians as well. They are the modern Deep Purple! Thank you so much for this pro shot video. Waiting for the official DVD.
never thought of it like that, but true, Purple Mk.2 were the best (45 years ago!), each musicians at the top of their leagues. Glover was a totally underrated bass player, Blackmore was a god, so was Jon (RIP) and Paice was phenomenal! Ian Gillan wasn't half a bad singer either. Symphony X are stupidly talented and individually incredible too. Many thanks for the video, also excellent.
I wouldn’t say Deep Purple, Symphony X is more of a cross between Dream Theater and Yngwie Malmsteen’s strengths (the songwriting and live performances and blending of classical and metal from Yngwie but removing the ego and lineup inconsistencies; and the technical chops and experimentation and band chemistry of Dream Theater but unlike DT they have a singer who’s great live and also know remember not to get technically overindulgent and just wank).
Symphony X is the sickest band full of dudes who look like a local cover band ever. I saw them back at Gigantour in '05, and my group seemed to be the only ones who knew about them before they played. By the time they were done, everybody was blown away.
Cameramen never heard any bands's songs in that cases so that's main reason why they suck at filming certain bands, they're unable what and when to focus on...my 2 cents.
Having studied a bit about the subject, I can confirm that most of the times it's an editor flaw, editors don't pay attention to the parts where the musician is playing a lead solo and they just move on and fill the blank by focusing on something else

Jason spent a week in hospital, and was released after some days. He then started a rehab program that took a minimum of 3-6 months under doctors’ care. John Macaluso joined them on tour for their South American and European dates, until Jason Rullo was able to fully recover.....Recovering from Heart Failure might take years, if ever recuperate. To do things as exhausting as doing hi intensity sports or, playing drums and touring, is something very difficult to handle and or endure. Seems that he has been taking good care of himself so he can -come back- full time.
Can we just appreciate how good Russell Allen's live vocals are, jesus, puts most to shame! Desperately want to see them live again, I saw them on this tour it's about time they came back to UK!

These guys are one of the most underrated bands ever in my opinion, sure they're successful over seas but they seriously need more attention. Just look how long it took for good quality live footage to come out, not to mention how long it took for their older stuff to come out on ITunes

I love Symphony X. Over the top, funny, technical, great songs. The whole package for me. Seen them twice, once supporting Dreamtheater in London and second time for Iconoclast tour in London. A real favourite band of mine. Hope to see them again.
I remember when SX appeared, did come across it by the second release. Guys are used to it today, but back in the mid 90's it was something completely unheard of.

He was always way better than James LaBrie. And I don't mean to disrespect James, because he was really good, and still can be. He was awesome on The Theater Equation. But still, there's not many that can compete with Russell Allen.

Amen! Fan of DT myself, any of their recent youtube videos make me cringe and never want to hear anything from them ever again. It's just a money-spinner of a band now going horribly through their motions, picking up their pension funds. In a fair world, Sym X would have all the glory they deserve and be motivated to give us more of their phenomenal material followed by great live shows. Oh well, reality..
Anand Padmanabhan Symphony X is the band that Dream Theater wishes they could be. They’re an amalgam of the best parts of DT (technical chops from all members, experimentation, band chemistry) and Yngwie Malmsteen (songwriting, blending classical and metal, and live performance) but with none of the bad parts from either.

Without esitating I proclaim Allen as one of the best live performer. He really nails it.

Amen! Fan of DT myself, any of their recent youtube videos make me cringe and never want to hear anything from them ever again. It's just a money-spinner of a band now going horribly through their motions, picking up their pension funds. In a fair world, Sym X would have all the glory they deserve and be motivated to give us more of their phenomenal material followed by great live shows. Oh well, reality..

Anand Padmanabhan Symphony X is the band that Dream Theater wishes they could be. They’re an amalgam of the best parts of DT (technical chops from all members, experimentation, band chemistry) and Yngwie Malmsteen (songwriting, blending classical and metal, and live performance) but with none of the bad parts from either.
Still one of my favorite and most inspirational bands, and with so much talent! On good days I practice warming up my vocals with some Symphony X!

Por fin un concierto multi camara y que el sonido no de cáncer, lamentablemente no se escucha casi o nada michael pinella aun así los 58 minutos que mas rápido han pasado que deleite. Esperó que por fin symphony x se digne a grabar un blue ray con extras por toneladas y temas de todos los álbumes que llevan 24 años de existencia, acednos este favor a los fans.
