Hi Treadbroker, I had my L4/L5 S1 fused with titanium in Sep 2011. P.T. was def. helpful beforehand. Although the damage was repaired, I'm still battling chronic pain. Finally going to the gym, but I'd give anything to go an entire day without pain. Glad to see there are others I can relate with and that you're recovering smoothly. If I can get rid of this pain, all would be close to perfect!

I am preparing myself mentally for my spinal fusion L5S1 region. I'm scared to death, but watching your video has given me a sense of peace about it. You look great...God Bless.
I plan to look to the Lord for strength and healing and to start living my life again! As a mom of 5 children and an amazing husband, I'm ready to move forward...have the surgery and enjoy life again!

I never had the option front or back. I was always told that orthopedic surgeons would go through the front and neuro surgeons go through the back. Mine was a neuro. I am 14 months post opp now and still in some sort of pain every day. The best thing that helped me so far was physical therapy. All i can suggest. Is to eliminate all other therapies before surgery. My only regret was not giving PT a serious chance prior to surgery. Respect your body and make the decision that is right for you.

I know this is an d post but these have helped relax me as I’m going in next week for it and all I’ve come across is bad reviews of the surgery

I definitely remember that first month post op. The only thing I focused on was staying medicated and as pain free as possible to let your body start healing. The only activity I was doing was walking as much as possible. My doc told me that a brisk walk was the best activity at that point post op. I think at your point I was on about 20mg Oxycontin/3 time per day and 10mg Percocet as needed for break through pain. Your body cannot heal if you are in pain....make sure and take the meds.

Don't do it! I've had 12 and will never be the same again! The pain is way worse than before and I can no longer walk at all! Its ruined my life plus the hardest was put in crooked and this was a top beverly hills dr.

Eleven years ago I went to Germany and had two Artificial Disks placed in my spine. I was off heavy drugs after one day and walked around the block the next. 5 days later I was on a train to see the mad King's castle and climb the hill to take the standard tourist image. After a few months my life returned to normal - riding bicycles and backpacking Look at my slide shows - see the results! - Gary

I read where Germany had invented a new artificial disc that was highly successful. I need an l4l5 surgery for 2 bulging disc's but at 80 years old trying other things first.

Man Must Be Nice To Have The Pain Medication your doctor gives. I had l5s1 fusion 2 Weeks ago today and have only been prescribed 5mg percosets. I'm Dealing With Pain Yes And Doctor Has Only Wrote Me 2 Scripts And Will Not give any more. refills. Not Sure What I'll Do After My Pain Meds Are Gone in less then a week.

Hi mark,I have been watching all of your videos and I really do appreciate you taking the time to take a video of your process along the way. I have a couple questions.1. Before you had surgery, did/do you have some kind of arthritis? Or was your disk just a bad one from birth? You said that you have been going through options for about 3 years or so, before you came to your final decision on having surgery. 2. What other options did you go through before you finally choose surgery? 3. How is it taking a shower/bathing yourself? Do you have to have your wife help with that or do you feel alright to do so by yourself? Thanks again for the honesty that you have giving everybody, especially me.

I'm not on opiates anymore...I've been using medical cannabis and it helps with pain, mood and appetite. However, my stamina is not great. I just hit 3 weeks this past Tuesday and had L4-S1 fused. I'm in pain when I walk long distances but really endurance is the worst part.

Great videos! Im going in 12/27/12 for a double fusion L4 L5 S1 and feel much better after watching your videos. I do have a question, were you given an option if you wanted the surgery performed from the front of your torso or the rear (back) ? They doctor is giving me this option and not to sure whch way to go. Thanks again.

Hi treadbroker. Hope you are still active here on UA-cam.
Just wanna know that how are you doing after so many years. In 2020 what's your condition ? And are you fully healed now?

I'm up for laminectomy and fusion this week. I'll probably go to rehab for a week then home. Do you need someone with you all the time? When can you manage getting in and out of the shower by yourself?

I had s1/l5 fusion and decompression 9 days ago, I'm up and about, and feeling great my only concern is that my incision is really raised like my spine going the opposite way. Have you or any other viewers had the same?? Does it go back down , is it just fluid? Any comments would be great to ease my mind thanks x
