I was five years old when I got ino Black Sabbath and of course Ozzy. I always loved music and lived my dream when Five Man Electrical Band asked me to work for them. I find music is the answer to allow you to escape whatever issue is getting you down etc. I know it's mine.

I am glad you enjoyed the video... did you watch the show in person or on TV. When they were on stage I had to wait in Greenroom, then teardown. You can't see me at beginning when they do that skit, the last person to talk, Steve, I am right behind him I believe he is leaning on my blue coat. Haven't seen it in years. When Carrot Top says how he was with us prior to the show, I had asked if he would take pictures with us... I will always cherish that. I should have added the after show pics of us with Mike Bullard and include Carrot Top!

Actually was released in 1970 has a B side to Hello Melinda. It was Dallas Smith who knew the song was a hit and made it Side A and released it on Lion Records. In 1971 the song took off in the charts.
Actually Vern was with The Staccatos and left the band years before the rest of the band moved to California which is where and when the band changed its name. Sorry but, I had to state the difference because Vern had nothing to do with Five Man Electrical Band.
@@GaryLatendresse I knew he was in the stacattos prior to the name change. What he told me was he left the band shortly after signs was recorded and settled in Vancouver area. He gave me a double cd of mostly unreleased tracks titled stacattos / 5 man electrical band. He sold his house next to me about 3 years ago now and last I heard his health was failing. I used to service his electronic gear for him.
@@12voltvids no, because he was gone before the Staccatos last album Five Man Electrical Band in 1969. 1970 the 5 were in LA Vern was in Canada (double CD you speak of...called First Sparks). Les wrote the song when he was in tour bus up and down the famous highway in the US when he noticed all the signs blocking the beautiful scenery. He probably said he left before that album which would give the band their namesake. I used to work for the band and more or less their historian. I know the way the band was formed from 1969 on. I don't know when Vern left, before 1968 or 67 but, was way before 1970 when Les wrote the song. Vern was not with the band in that tour bus. I don't know how he got those tapes but, doesn't mean anything... could have asked Les for copies all I know when The Staccatos wrote the album Five Man Electrical Band they were the band that we knew from Les Emmerson, Brian Rading, Ted Gerow, Mike Bell and Rick Bell (Belanger real last name). So how can Vern be part of that band when the 5 are the ones who moved to California and the 5 in that tour bus. This history I was told from Les himself.
Wanted to state...that Double CD being First Sparks...I was one who helped them (the label who released that double CD..Vern helped with old material but, that's it) get started. They had to go to many lengths to get the material that were on that CD. I can tell you, the songs on 1st sparks have all been in one form or another released even if just as a promo that people never got to hear. I was lucky enough to get a lot of those singles. They made a mistake though, all songs on the Five Man Electrical Band album is from The Staccatos. Everyone thinks it was the 5Man's self titled LP (I was one of them, Les is the one who told me). I know that the statement he was there when Signs was recorded and left the band thereafter, I can tell you that is wrong. I know 100% he wasn't part of that recording process or anyone prior to The Staccatos last album. I have to check, cause I think he was gone by the time the album A Wild Pair was released in 1967.
Sorry for all the replies..just bothers me when wrong information is given to someone no matter from who if I know the real info...that double CD, if he made it for you, please check the CD First Sparks, The Staccatos/Five Man Electrical Band (it has a blue cover) and let me know after you read the tracks if they are the same or not. I just have a distinct feeling that is what the material you mentioned came from.
