Yes Babymetal.
I think queens of the Stone Age will surprise a lot of people. They are an excellent live band.
Babymetal and avenged sevenfold are my most anticipated bands at this festival for sure, they are just next level live, but babymetal will only play for about 40 minutes, so i Don't think this will be worth for me, only if the other headliners were more like my taste.
Queens of the Stone Age are an awesome and important / influential band….. their set at Glastonbury was the best set of that festival

@@chriskelsey2874 ok I’m not calling the band bad there just not a metal band and nether is the the offspring, fall out boy and royal blood my problem with this line isn’t that’s it’s bad it’s just not metal and for one of the biggest metal festivals it doesn’t make any sense and I’m disappointed

They are good, but not as a headliner for 350£ festival, 35£ to see them on tour

Im not going to lie for me this is a great line up, i like the headliners not love but i like them. but the smaller bands are incredible for me. so im going to love it and praying for a smaller crowd this year after struggling last year especially as an access customer
Feels like a geek out year which tbh I'm looking forward to as I'm taking my younger sister this year for her first ever download. About to start her addiction hehe

I appreciate the way you have reacted to this! Kind of fed up of the negativity online over the line up. People are entitled to their opinion, but a simple 'not for me' would suffice, a band is not shit or undeserving because you don't like them! Music, like all art forms is subjective! I'm not a massive fan of any of the headliners, but I do like them all, so I'm ok with it. For me a weekend that involved Kiss and Biffy Clyro was far worse, but I enjoyed it all the same. 💜
I saw QOTSA at Manchester in November and they were quality live so they are 1 of the bands for me avenged, pantera, limp bizkit, slaughter to prevail, corey taylor, biohazard, fear factory, atreyu, bleed from within, slaughter to prevail and urne are aswell

Im in the same boat with QOTSA not a band for me so im hoping that someone else is on at the same time preferably fear factory for me.
But there are tons of bands on there i like especially in the undercard and i like alot of the logo bands. Its no way near the strongest lineup but its still a fun lineup in my opinion.
The two logo bands you couldn't read are Heilung (scandinavian folk metal band focusing on gods very atmospheric and probably a dogtooth headliner) and Polyphia a prog band
Funnily enough, I'm much more pleased with this line up compared to my thoughts on Slamdunk
QotSA I do think deserve the spot, alongside A7X - FOB I think we can agree are quite an odd ball
Some of the second tier bands are really respectable choices - Machine Head, Pantera, Sum 41, Offspring, Fear Factory, WSS & BFS will be a really good time
Generally, the ratio to "good bands to bad bands" at DL2024 so far looks well and beyond the ratio of SD2024
I too think it’s a bit weak can’t wait to see avenge not keen on there new album so hope they play some older stuff. But like you it’s more than just the bands. And this year was my first time can’t wait for that amazing atmosphere 😁🤟🏻🤟🏻
This is the first download in years I'm not going to. Being going for years now and last year just didn't feel right so held off. Glad I did as this is just pure reading and Leeds. There's a fair few bands there I want to see but all lower down playing 35 mins so I'm better off going smaller festivals or their own tours to actually appreciate them!
I forgot Machine Head, pantera, heilung are leeds festival regulars 🤔😅😅 headliners aside this is no way near a reading leeds festival, the undercard and lower bands are very heavy.
I guess we will see you at Bloodstock rather than visiting Welsh treehouses next year then @phil.oakley !! hahaha 🤣🖤

@Phil.Oakley I get you, and I agree. But like I said aside from 2 of the healdiners (which tbf is a big part of the fest) this is nothing like a reading or leeds fest and it's a bit daft people saying that it is. Even though I agree this lineup isn't exciting, it does feel quite fresh which I think is a good thing, and it definitely wasn't predicable. I'm just happy it wasn't A7x maiden and Aerosmith like I was predicting 😅

I have to say that I will definitely not be going for the full 3 days next year, in fact, it is unlikely that I'll be buying a day ticket either. I'm an old hand and I went to the first Download in 2003 and also attended at Monsters of Rock in the 90s as well, so a lot of these bands are just not my cup of tea. But maybe we've just seen the new beginnings of Download? Maybe future lineups will become more mainstream as the old bands hang up there guitars? Nothing lasts forever, but the festival is changing like it or not. That said, people have been moaning for years about the same old headliners attending year after year, so you could say that this is a brave move by the organisers.
pantera stopped playing for around 20 years because of their guitarist and drummer died i think
dimbag got assassinated live on stage and his brother died 15 years later

All the people complaining about the line up and headliners are probably doing so because there precious band that wear stupid scary gimp masks slipknot ain't on line up again.
Royal Blood are a big deal. The guy has basically invented a new way of playing the bass!!!
i am starting to get into them basically through this announcement and same can be said for a few more. As far as i can tell on first listens they are a cross between muse and white stripes both of which i am fans of
