A favourite Saturday routine of mine as a kid in the late 1970s/early 80s was to meet my schoolmates for a few frames of snooker, after which we'd all head off to the local Wimpy for a nosh-up. I loved Wimpy burgers, and I miss them.

I have been to the UK many times, but never to a Wimpy there. The first time I went to one was in South Africa. There they are big and I love them. Their breakfast menu, their burgers, their milkshake. And their menus full of colourful delicious pictures (I hate restaurants that don't have pictures of their food). Wish we had the Wimpy chain here as well *drools*
There everywhere in South africa. Big down there. There's one in Huddersfield. It never shut down. It's always been there 30 years or so. There South african owned.
I live in Stafford and every Christmas eve, around 40 friends and family (and dogs) basically takeover that wimpy before going an annual Xmas walk, the highlight of my festive season
Used to live in the Haywoods (my folks still do) and would eat at that wimpy and drink at the pub next door so thanks for bringing back some great memories and of Cannock Chase - keep on eating! 😋

There is a Wimpy near Liverpool, in a place we call Birkenhead which is over the water. We normally ask them for passports when they come through the worlds first underwater tunnel that was built under an estuary. However, now that there is a Wimpy and knowing that Birkenhead is still dwelling in the 80's-90's I'm inclined to take a journey over there to see if I can get a Freddo for 10p along with some 10p Space Raiders. My last meal out before lockdown in March 2020 was a Wimpy - halfpounder with cheese and chips and a diet coke. Literally my favourite burger joint and, like you say, well worth the little bit of extra money to get it served to you at your table, on a plate, with cutlery. Then there's the taste... 😘

I once had a Wimpy with my Dad, he thought I wasn't eating fast enough so decided to load a fork with chips and shove them in my mouth. I was unable to digest and had to run out the restaurant and throw up as people in the town centre walked by. Great memories.

Actually started in USA, but it caught on particularly well in RSA and UK. Now based in RSA which also has most restaurants, Famous Brands now owns the UK operation. Disappeared in USA according to Wikipedia. Fan of the brand and have eaten at Wimpy’s both in RSA and UK.

Just came across this older video.. I live in Springfield, MO, but used to live in a town just north of here called Willard. When I did, they had a Wimpy burgers joint on the outskirts of town. We used to love to eat there.. I still remember they had great burgers and shakes (although pretty sure they didn't have lime ones!). We went back to that town a few yrs after we'd moved, specifically to eat at Wimpy's, but, sadly, they'd closed. Read not long after that, that all the restaurants had closed here in the U.S.

I went to a Wimpy today for the first time in roughly 25 years. They've made a bender burger now too - so a bender is on top of a bacon cheeseburger I think. I've only been watching your videos for a few months so after eating there I had to see if you'd done a Wimpy video and was not disappointed!
Wimpy looks a lot better than I remember it being. Been over 25 years since I've seen one, didn't even know they were still around. Was the culinary height of my dads taste when he had us for a few hours a month - it wasn't fun and the food wasn't good. But this video has made me want to seek out an open one to try again as it's looking so much better than I when I last saw one.

I miss Wimpy. I'm 29 and just about remember it as a young kid, my mum used to take me there as a treat, fun times, the early/mid 90s were the best.

Love how your food is always steaming hot, I dunno why when I sometimes see similiar challenges you can tell the foods been sitting there for a while for whatever reason. But when I see the steam coming off one of yours burgers my mouth instantly starts salivating haha
My last meal out before lockdown in March 2020 was a Wimpy - halfpounder with cheese and chips and a diet coke. Literally my favourite burger joint and, like you say, well worth the little bit of extra money to get it served to you at your table, on a plate, with cutlery. Then there's the taste... 😘

Ah I love Wimpy... Not had one in years but was always great. Used to love how they brought your burger out on a plate with cutlery... The refined fast food experience... Looks like they've progressed onto modern day wrapping of the buggers in that one Adam... Also those burgers looked massive
My brother loved Wimpy when he lived in London because they give you real cutlery and real plate! I used to love the Bender In A Bun!
We used to have a few Wimpy's in India until mid 2000's. I was a big fan of its burgers and pizzas.
I once had a Wimpy with my Dad, he thought I wasn't eating fast enough so decided to load a fork with chips and shove them in my mouth. I was unable to digest and had to run out the restaurant and throw up as people in the town centre walked by. Great memories.

Actually started in USA, but it caught on particularly well in RSA and UK. Now based in RSA which also has most restaurants, Famous Brands now owns the UK operation. Disappeared in USA according to Wikipedia. Fan of the brand and have eaten at Wimpy’s both in RSA and UK.

Man, that takes me back in time. In the 70's there was a Wimpy in my hometown, Eindhoven, in the Netherlands. Good memories.
Just came across this older video.. I live in Springfield, MO, but used to live in a town just north of here called Willard. When I did, they had a Wimpy burgers joint on the outskirts of town. We used to love to eat there.. I still remember they had great burgers and shakes (although pretty sure they didn't have lime ones!). We went back to that town a few yrs after we'd moved, specifically to eat at Wimpy's, but, sadly, they'd closed. Read not long after that, that all the restaurants had closed here in the U.S.
My nearest Wimpy closed 20 years ago, now I really want one.

yeh i think wimpy was named after him as the popeye cartoons were popular in the 1950s and the comic was before that i think and wimpy did love his hamburgers.
I didn't even know they still exist, my town Coventry had one back in the 70's.. long gone now..

I went to a Wimpy today for the first time in roughly 25 years. They've made a bender burger now too - so a bender is on top of a bacon cheeseburger I think.

Wimpy looks a lot better than I remember it being. Been over 25 years since I've seen one, didn't even know they were still around. Was the culinary height of my dads taste when he had us for a few hours a month - it wasn't fun and the food wasn't good. But this video has made me want to seek out an open one to try again as it's looking so much better than I when I last saw one.
I'm from Colombia, even here we had wimpy in the 80s I never thought they were still around. A Lot of nostalgia only looking at the name!
