  • Learn side drifting techniques with guide, Kevin Brock, fishing for Chinook Salmon. Filmed in either 2009 or 2010, at a time when most California rivers had extremely poor runs, the Klamath River continued to produce. This is a highly instructional episode with some beautiful fish landed. Includes a new intro demonstrating how Thirsty Beads make a great substitute for styrofoam balls. Watch Angler West Classics Sunday mornings on NBC Sports NW.

    The only things that are going to save the runs is killing invasive Sea Lyons and getting the Indian gill nets out of the rivers. Stop killing off fish trying to establish natural spawning beds.

    Sad how we were talking about fixing political and environmental issues to save the fish 10 years ago, and things are worse now. At some point when the fish actually go extinct, maybe the politicians will wake up.

    I have fished around both Kevin and Don many times, and both of them have put a whoopin' on me. I can't believe I have never seen this video. That is an impressive fish anywhere, but especially on the Klamath.

    Back in the day when their was Fish and Water. Been fishing the Klamath and Trinity since I was old enough to walk down the river bank. Springers at the Falls and Ranch and Lewiston, Fall run from junction city to the mouth. Now days its a shame what the runs of fish have came to. My kids will never see a healthy Klamath system and its freaking sad..

    I don't know that the salmon population in the Klamath will ever be what it once was. At least not on the northern part. The C. Shasta parasite really seems to have these salmon dialed in. I know we're optimistic about taking the dams out and helping water levels, but with the headwaters of Klamath Lake being such a perfect spawning ground for C. Shasta, I don't see how anything but these Redbands will able to survive.

    Hey Justin just curious what year this was filmed?
    Kevin mentioned in the video that the rivers around Sacramento was closed this season and they were lucky to be able to fish the Klamath.
    With our dire situation with water in the Sacramento this season I was just wondering if we could draw some comparisons from prior years.

      I think either 2009 or 2010. Water wasn't the issue back then.

    Replacing a corkie with a neutral buoyancy bead makes no sense. Just sayin

    • @AnglerWestTV
      @AnglerWestTV  3 роки тому

      Not using Corkies in this episode. Those are a completely different product.

    • @asherseverson5378
      @asherseverson5378 3 роки тому

      @@AnglerWestTV It is extremely misleading telling consumers of your products that a neutral buoyancy bead will replace and do the same job as a “styrofoam ball” that’s sole purpose is to “Float” your bait. As well as saying it’s a better option than throwing styrofoam in the water. Last I checked Thirsty beads are not made of environmentally friendly material.

    • @AnglerWestTV

      @@asherseverson5378 Thirsty Beads will make your bait more neutral buoyant. There's nothing misleading about that. The reason they are more environmentally friendly is, as was explained in this episode, the fact that one Thirsty Bead could possibly last an entire day of fishing as apposed to using a new styrofoam ball almost every time you bait up. With 3 or 4 guys on my boat I'd go through bag fulls of the type seen in this episode in a day. I like the idea of using very few beads in a day while at the same time adding scent and attraction to my bait. If you don't think it's a good idea then don't use them.
