hear me out brethern: what if instead of one long pipe, you used two long pipes. The first is at the bottom. Then, 5 inches up, in parallel, in a vertical plane (ie one pipe on bottome, one 5 inches higher). I think with two long pipes, you will have the stability for which you seek, no?

Do you think this could be built with a telescopic pole in the bottom so is can collapse to a smaller size for travel and/or storage?

Standard 48.3 tube 🙂
What length did you make the main tube and uprights?
So the main tube is a standard 3m length and the uprights are about 30cm (pretty sure I cut a 60cm bar in half). Hope that helps!
