    Very cool, don't think I'll ever need anything else but my Roland Space Echo though. :)

    In your music do you feel that you want the effects more than you need them or vice-versa?

    How many plays do you get out of this before you need to replace the tape cartridge?

    Sounds great, but is the hiss always so noticeable?

    Clicked on my sub videos just as this appeared. This thing looks so cool with the actual tape moving parts. I love how the time changes the actual speed of the tape machine. My main concern with this would be durability, how long it would last and if it were prone to damage given that it has mechanical moving parts within it. Also how long would the tape last? Even though I baby everything I own, I'd still be a little skeptical.

    Any chance of a 8 sting in your future. I think you could do some really cool stuff with that.

    So you can’t really use this version for slap back sounds? Or can you tap in a faster delay time?

    • @chordsoforion
      @chordsoforion  4 роки тому +1

      Yes, you can get slapback sounds, but it appears that I did not do a good job of demoing that. Sorry!

      Chords Of Orion Thanks! I really enjoyed your demo, I just purchased one and I’m glad to hear you can get slap back sounds with it.

      Chords Of Orion, how do you get slap back sounds with the minimum delay time of 350ms?

    • @javiceres
      @javiceres 4 роки тому +2

      Alexander Webb You can change the reading head to the other slot available to get 125 to 600 msec Delay range

      update time yet?

    • @sifelaver
      @sifelaver 2 роки тому +1

      i wrote them got the following. will probably last longer than you expect, in fact got instructions to speed up the aging of the cartridge!
      “No set rule as far as time. I understand the 'less pristine" preference.
      When you're not using the unit, put the next tape in with whatever sourcing and let it run for about an hour or two. Then put it back in the box and save it for later. Lot of studi guys do this with multiple cartridges” -T-Rex

    would it be possible to increase the delay time by replacing the tape inside? it would be cool to do frippertronics with two of these if so.. :)

    • @chordsoforion
      @chordsoforion  4 роки тому +1

      I too have thought about that. :-)

    • @phladjki
      @phladjki 3 роки тому

      not by replacing the tape

    • @hoover728
      @hoover728 3 роки тому +1

      You could put tinfoil over the erase head so the delays don’t erase and thereby turn it into a looper. More like how sound on sound on an Echoplex works than Frippertronics (where the loops constantly get erased and re-recorded).

  • @hoover728
    @hoover728 5 років тому +2

    It’s not entirely true that all tape echoes lose high end with longer repeats: because Echoplexes (and the Fulltone versions) have fixed motor speeds and vary the time by moving the record head away from the playback head, high frequencies are maintained throughout (and due to other factors in the circuit, low end roll off accentuates the brightness). This of course refers to an ideal situation: old tape, dirty or worn heads, etc will impact frequency response.

    • @javiceres
      @javiceres 4 роки тому

      Yeah, but still I think they have two selectable motor speeds

    • @hoover728
      @hoover728 3 роки тому

      Fulltones do but Echoplexes just have one speed.

      Recently got a massive price drop here in Europe. You can get em for 300€ now. Think that's pretty affordable for a real tape delay pedal.
