What I appreciate about your video is how inexpert you are, and I mean that in a good way because I am learning by doing and am fumbling to locate parts and to fit my bits and wrenches where they go. The fact that someone who knows their way around the bike is also having to work at it is both comforting and encouraging. So thanks!
Thanks for sharing that, been thinking of getting gs but maintaince cost scaring me. This will help if I can do a lot myself 🤓😎🏍💨💨💨👍🏻🇨🇦 cheers from British Columbia
Thanks for the video post. For the audience, could you include the "fiddly" part about what makes putting the rear shaft splines back together so time consuming and what eventually worked for you. What is the "trick"? I think this will greatly help some of us.
I lifted with the cable tie and while lifting with the help of my wife, "jiggle" the shaft back and forth. The shaft and splines and need to be parallel
Great video . Well done. From 2021 they come with a 5 year warranty. Not being serviced by BMW would this not void that warranty. Thx again for a insightful video.
As your dealer, 3 years in US and UK, I had warranty claim on my old GS that only saw dealer for 1st service. When I sold it, buyer returned it to dealer who commented how well it had been looked after!
Great video, thank's for posting. Can I ask: is there any risk, when doing the front splines, of levering back the shaft too far and popping it of them?

Your dealer recommended Liquid Moly because their margins are higher on it vs the BMW oil. No way BMW is telling dealers not to use the BMW oil. That’s an insane lie you’re being fed.

Thanks for this! Been wanting to do my own servicing on my R1250GS!
Any time!

Thanks for watching. Enjoy
You can put oil in the filter as it will absorb it just don’t add too much. Did it 2 weeks ago.
Thanks for video.
Engine drain oil plug torque is 42 nm
Yes on a non oiled thread, you risk stripping thread if oil on it
Need to torque it 42 nm to compress and form the copper crush washer properly either the plug nut is oiled or dry.
Awesome service, next service, can you do a detail reset of the service minder in the computer using your GS911 on the apps at the phone, thanks.

Top job 😎
Nice video, very detailed. Can you share which locktite used for paralever T50 bolt used for final drive 242 Blue or Red?
Blue the one that is removable

Not that I know of
Hi David, thank you for the video. I searched for the GS911 online and there are two models. Do you recommend the Wi-Fi or the Bluetooth version?
Bluetooth as links to cellphone so can use easily on the road
Great, thanks
Why do you have little bells on the crash bars?
Supposed to be a good luck symbol.

The rear of the shaft doesn’t look too bad to do, but the front looks like a bear. You need to borrow some latex gloves from work! Well done… 👍
No the bear is aligning the rear when you lift it!
Well, it suposse to be better than chain :-)
It is but nothing is maintenance free!
