Dude! That old timbering outside the collapsed mine should be put to use inside the new hotel! Imagine having legit 1800's timber from an actual mine inside the hotel!

When hiking in areas were indigenous people previously lived I look for areas that I find pleasant where I'd want to hang out and then look for artifacts like arrowheads and such. Found quite a few arrowheads and tools in this way. The indigenous people have much more history than the minors in these areas. And both histories are very interesting. I think the native Americans along the Sierras spent the Summers at higher elevations where it was cooler and of course in the winter would go down to the valleys where it was milder. Great content!

I just want you to know that your videos light my soul on fire. I was a young man in the Marine Corps in 29 palms for 4 years. I used to hike and sleep on the ground in ancient lands. We would go to places paces on base that hadn’t seen a person in 60 years and would sleep under the stars. I’ve seen desert tortoises in their burrows. If I was only cognizant enough to realize the beauty of where I was! We were all too focused on how hard the training was and how hot it was. I’m sure I could have found some petroglyphs if I would have looked around. Been to Joshua tree a couple times since and loved it. Drive up the coast and got a flat tire in lone pine. Beautiful land out there. Anyway, Brent if you’re reading this, the scenery in your videos give me butterflies and make me feel great. I miss the quiet wind of the desert.
You keep surprising me after all these years! I'm glad your trying be safer, because I'm going there this spring. I've waiting over 3 years since I watched the 1st video. God Speed Brent!
I moved to Tonopah NV after high school in 85. On weekends we would explore the mountains of the high desert. We found some amazing places miles from paved roads. Even ran across an old prospector still out there. Your living the dream of freedom and exploration! Thank You for chronicling this and sharing it with everyone!
Your videos are always great, I'm really impressed with what you've achieved over the last few years - you're a brilliant filmmaker and I look forward to what is to come. I hope to visit when the hotel is open!
What an amazing adventure your living. I always look forward to seeing what your up to. I know im not alone when i say " you are amazing Mr. Underwood. Simply amazing.
This was cool to see. So often when I think of the "desert" I think of areas like what's immediately around Cerro Gordo with mostly just low scrub grasses and no real large vegetation, but the areas you found after the charcoal camp with larger trees growing back really opened my eyes that there can still be actual large trees, they just take MUCH longer to grow because of how dry everything is.
Thank you Brent. Love the exploration of the land and minds. It's a good mix. I can't wait until next time. My dogs and cats usually always watch with me. It's very relaxing. I need that. Thank you.🐈 🐕
Brent, another interesting episode. I enjoy your excitement at locating more mines. The scenery is truly spectacular! Looking forward to your exploration of the new levels! Stay safe.

I've been watching this channel since 2020 and everytime you go on these awesome hikes, it inspires me to get off my backside and get outside myself! lol but in all seriousness thank you for what you do, such a great channel! The last few seconds of this video made me wonder if you do any astronomy or if there are any types of plans for an observatory of sorts (within reason). The location seems great with a high location and dark sky, seeing the milky way must be a great experience every night and having a telescope would make it even more of a excellent experience!
Thank you! I really like notes like this. Glad you're getting out there! I believe the town is in a 'dark sky' area so the milky way is something else here!
Simply put: Brent I love you and your part in preserving HISTORY! I obsess over this towns history, I collect books regarding it. I cannot wait to make the trip to meet you and finally see the town. Stay safe.
This is one of the best channels on UA-cam! What a cool place. The history is awesome. Imagining these miners back in the day, backing breaking labor. Using mules teams to transport everything that went up there. The tonnage that they were able to move is amazing to me.
Your vids stopped coming up in my feed, so happy this one did! Your enthusiasm is absolutely contagious. I'd love to spend a couple months at Cerro Gordo. Every day is an adventure.
He only makes one video every 3-4 weeks, so it's better to just subscribe and then see the dot when there's a new video. It will fall out of the feed algorithm within a week if there isn't constant videos.
Crazy idea but since you are trying to grow your own food with the gardens and bring back some of the wild life in the area up on the hill, you should also like once a week plant a new pine tree (or whatever trees drop the pine cones). Maybe start getting some of the trees around Cerro Gordo to start coming back?
Have you considered bringing in a company that does Lidar to map the mountains? I bet stripping away the vegetation layer would reveal a lot of lost workings and structures.
Great video. It really shows the vastness of the country. You are very brave searching these areas on your own. I can’t wait for the next one when you explore your findings with some friends. Take care, be safe. ❤ Dorset, UK
It really is hard to convey how BIG the US is to anyone who has never been here. I was teaching some lovely women English when I lived in Japan, and the disbelieving wonder when I told them it would take at least a week of 6-8 hour days of driving at 120-130kph on the highway to drive from New York City to Los Angeles. The highest speed limits on that island were 60kph on the tollway. It does explain the American sense of scale a bit though.

Brent: I wish I could express just how much these videos mean to me, reminding me as they do of my younger years, tramping through mine country in the San Bernardino Mountains. Thank you so, SO much for these wonderful adventures you share with all of us!
There's a lot of mines in Holcomb Valley behind BBC on the desert side, but I think USFS has closed most of them off. I've come across a few while offroading that are off the 38 kind of down in the valley between Sugarloaf and Heart Bar as well but again, USFS has closed them off or they've caved in. We have one in OC I've been hunting for with a drone, the Blue Light Mine, which is somewhere on the hill above the town of Silverado. Haven't found the entrance to it yet, I know it's closed off because 2 kids died due to drowning back in 2011. @@tsummz1073

I would love to see an episode with you and Les Stroud, i know he is more a survivalist but a lot of what you do every day is similar to what he does just not in a life or death situation it feels very much like he would love it at Cerro Gordo.
I love these adventures you go on. I love seeing the old mines. I do worry about you being in the mines alone. Anything can happen at any time and we don't want to lose you. Thank you for doing this the smart way. Have a great time.
That is so frickin cool!!! Thanks for another great vlog Brent. All the history you have been uncovering is cool and cannot wait to see the vlogs yet to come. Would be so cool to go back in history to see all of these mines in full operation. Thanks again!!
I appreciate the history lesson. Great exploration video.. I'm hoping you could do a few days hike to a mine and camp out each night. Just not in the winter.. I know it gets cold all year long in the desert at night especially in winter. That way you'd have more time to document what you find. I appreciate each video that you let us tag along with you.

I love your adventure hikes. I am personally terrified of heights and your drone shots at the wash were enough to make my stomach sink but my heart raced, excited for what would come next. Thank you for taking the safer route because there will be more hikes like this one.
Great hike, but it worries me that you are doing this solo. When I do hike solo, I carry a Spot gen 3 gps tracker. That way, somebody always knows where I am. I hope to visit you some day. Stay safe!
Imagine how beautiful the view WAS before they cut down all those huge trees. Quite big trees judging by the size of the stumps the trees were once attached to. A Glaring example of desertification due to heavy hands of humans and how deforestation rushes all the water downhill to vanish into what we Now Know as "Death" Valley. Brent saying "Detoured by the stump forest" is a perfect explanation of how it all went down... Great Video Brent as Always. 👍
Man these videos are great. I get hikers envy watching these videos sometimes i love finding and exploring places like this probably most of all. Wish i had more time to do so but ill have to revisit cerro gordo sometime soon. Was great meeting you last year 🤙🏻
If your ever go down a steep slope use a long staff. It makes it so. Much easier to go down. You will be able to go down standing up. Very safely. By the way wear a mask in the Mines.
Wow, Brent, that's an amazing find. I just cannot imagine how they actually dug mines in all that rock by hand, would have been horrendous conditions. Love your content, mate, cheers....
Fantastic! Love the trails paved in thousands of pine cones! Be careful out there, Brent! Wear your hiking boots, carry an EPIRB, always have ropes. Some of those portals look pretty fragile and sketchy. The world cannot afford to lose such an active, enthusiastic, and diligent historian as yourself! Love your content, and only wish I were 30 years younger!
I LOVE THESE VIDEOS and have watched EVERY single one of them on BOTH of your channels. I will ABSOLUTELY take a break, to watch EVERY TIME! And someday, I will hike in Cerro Gordo! Is the trail you're making a loop or an out and back? Do you have a guesstimated mileage? TREMENDOUS upload!
I love the scenic views, Brent, as you walk along the trails or as you forge new trails. Maybe one day youll see your Bighorn. My best friend and I were hiking in the San Rafael Desert on this absolutely stunning day and came around a bend...and Froze! Because, there standing on a low rock outcropping not more than 10 yards in front of us as it looking down at us, was a Desert Bighorn Sheep Ram. He had this huge set of curled horns and he was majestic! He took our breath away. The desert was so silent as well, no birds or insects could be heard. It was like time stood still. It seemed as if we stood there looking at him for about an hour, but probably wasn't more than 10 minutes. I didnt want to spook him by taking a picture of him. Eventually, he seemed to bow his head, and scampered up the rocky slope and over the top of the hill. I will never forget this encounter and neither would my friend. So, i think, eventually one day, you will see your Bighorn. In the meantime, stay safe, Brent, and keep warm. Cant wait to see what you find next time.
Interesting video but it is horribly crazy in risk security: exploring alone in an abandoned mine, non existing ventilation system, no people at surface controlling the underground trip, lack of communications system, no measure gadget to detect gases... and much more. I wish you a lot of luck, tons of luck, you are going to need in the future.
Very cool adventure, Brent! Very exciting to find a mine so far flung out. Thanks for taking me along for it (virtually)!! Agree w/ other commenters: You should a.) Go prepared with enough gear, food, lighting and protection from elements, b.) Go with other people, c.) go with the intent of surviving the adventure - be & stay safe!

Let's just take a moment and say how frickin brave you are! Every cave looks like where I would like to live if I was a snake or scorpion!😮
I appreciate the history lesson. Great exploration video..
I'm hoping you could do a few days hike to a mine and camp out each night. Just not in the winter.. I know it gets cold all year long in the desert at night especially in winter. That way you'd have more time to document what you find.
I appreciate each video that you let us tag along with you.
that has to be so thrilling to discover something so old and rich in history! have fun exploring this mine. can't wait to see what you find!! Good luck!!
Been following you for some time now and I truly love watching your adventures. Wishing you nothing but the best! ⚜️
Very impressive, glad to see you are still enjoying the exploration and mysteries of Cerro Gordo
What an exciting area, steeped in history and intrigue...
I'm looking forward to watching your further ventures into the lost mines.
It certainly keeps you fit, although I do recommend stout boots...!
Another amazing one, Brent! You have become an incredible documentary filmmaker. Thanks for all you do. I hope I can come visit one day. Keep up the good work!
Hey Brent! This was wicked cool to see!! I've never left Maine 🇺🇸.. Ever! So it's awesome to see all these places out there with ya! I appreciate you taking the time to share with us 🙏
I always wanted to go to Maine because its all the way across the USA
Count growth rings
Brent, youre awesome my dude. Im impressed with how you navigate things. Makes me jealous, it definitely gets harder as you get older. Take care of yourself, friend. Thanks for the video memories!
Great video, Brent! I love the hiking and talking videos, but also love seeing you discover stuff. I love seeing the artifacts!
It's such a great feeling when you find what you're looking for on a hike
I love your adventure hikes. I am personally terrified of heights and your drone shots at the wash were enough to make my stomach sink but my heart raced, excited for what would come next. Thank you for taking the safer route because there will be more hikes like this one.
Amazing how much there is to Discover - Awesome Brent!
Great video. I am glad you are taking your safety more seriously.
I love your work, it is worth waiting for Brent. Keep safe and keep on keeping on
Great hike, but it worries me that you are doing this solo.
there were not may trees to start with that is a Desert it takes twice as long to get a tree of any size,
That is why there are stumps all over the place?
Not.

Man these videos are great. I get hikers envy watching these videos sometimes i love finding and exploring places like this probably most of all. Wish i had more time to do so but ill have to revisit cerro gordo sometime soon. Was great meeting you last year 🤙🏻
I'm so glad you didn't go down or up those holes. Thanks for taking me along!
A non-Sunday upload!? What a treat!
Brent you said “Boom!” And I got so tickled! 😂 love your excitement! Please stay safe so we can continue to enjoy these explores!! 🥰❤️
Nice finds dude! Can't wait for the next adventure! 🤘
I love, love, love it when you take us on a hike and then find treasure of a mine....yeah. Thank you.
I love your videos and what you bring to light literally everything when you discover. Keep up the great work
Wait what, both channels? There is a second channel?
Indeed there is... Ghost Town Two. @@samu-yx8zv
I LOVE how the roots of the tree are framing the mine portal at @25:28, it'd make a beautiful picture!
Such beautiful and interesting nature. Would to love visit one day.
You should have a way of marking the entrance of a mine you enter, so rescuers know where to look if you get caught behind a collapse or injured.
I've watched you a few years now your awesome bro
Agree w/ other commenters: You should a.) Go prepared with enough gear, food, lighting and protection from elements, b.) Go with other people, c.) go with the intent of surviving the adventure - be & stay safe!
here for the premiere, love your work on the town, keep it up :)
Amazing: After 4 plus years. Now you finding more old mines. Must be exciting times ahead.
Brings me joy, that you shared your stories. "Best of luck" & Stay safe. Regards from South Africa 🇿🇦.
