    It is a great fly. We used to call it "Teal Blue and Silver" Who knew! Fished it on a single hook for sea-trout. Tied very sparse. Thank you. Great video.

    Love it !! Sometimes the simplest patterns to me are the most elegant they really are today and yesterday was fishing a Partridge & orange Even though they were stocked fish I caught a bunch of fish it was also using the Stewart’s spider I was running three flies I enjoyed watching you tie this one

    A great norwegian classic, a king amongst flies tied by the king of flytyers!
    Works as well down by sea level as high in the mountains.

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  4 роки тому

      Hi Dominique LeBlanc,
      It would certainly take a salmon or two, I used to fish these flies in the summer months when there were fresh running sea trout and grilse coming off the tide..I'm glad you liked the fly..

    Your flies are great. Thank You.
    I have just a couple things i wonder about. I have noth find out, what kind of wax are you using on your finger???
    And i wonder, do you have a video. That you show, how to tye the wings on the fly. Like you do on Muddler or Hardys Fav.
    I struggel with my wing tying. So, do you have a video. That you show how to ty wings on your flies.

    Beautiful pattern Davie! Is it easier to tie the wing on a double than on a single hook? It seems like it would because to me the shank looks wider on the double.

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Joe,
      A small underwing would certainly help support the wing and a little bit of golden pheasant tippet would certainly give you a great variant of this fly..I'm glad you liked the fly..

      Hi Ken,
      It would certainly fish well for sea trout as well as trout, it takes many fish in Norway that's why it's so popular, I've lost count of the number of times I have been asked to film this fly..I'm glad you liked it..

    thanks very much for the excellent video!
    I imagine you personally don't have a lot of control over this, but the introduction from Fulling Mill is appalling!
    It's so messy and frantic, it is completely out of step with the tone of the rest of your great videos.
    advertisements from fulling mill are fine, and if they're paying your bills all power to them, but they should try and come up with an introduction that suits the video on which its appearing
    Cheers
    Peter

      Peter you are so right and thanks for saying so. I would not want to say how many hours I have watched Davie tie. Some flies I have watched 10 times and would have no trouble watching again. The first time I saw the lead in I thought that I had clicked the wrong link. And as a marketing person, which I am, the lead-in does nothing for Fulling Mill and damages Davies brand.

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  4 роки тому +5

      Hi Peter,
      Before you posted your message I had spoken to Fulling Mill about this and they said that it would be better to take out the music as you said it's out of step to the normal tone that comes across in my videos..They are going to look at something else in the new year..I appreciate you and Gary's comment and I hope this doesn't stop you viewing my videos...

      You don't have to be sorry as I need to get feedback on these changes. I'll reduce the sound on this to try and help as I feel the drums are a bit loud myself...Fulling Mill do help me but they do listen to me and any feed back I get so Thank you..

      It's actually not a bad peice of work, it just doesn't fit in with the guitar and Davie's style of speaking. What you could do is try to add a transition in and out with some simple fades to split it up. The extra time and ramp in and out would make it seem less harsh. But on all honesty despite the add being good work something a little more easy to match the style would be better...
