This is the only performance that I have heard where the lyrical playfulness is brought out. Quite lovely and charming without losing the virtuosity. Very enjoyable. Thank you for posting.
@@MogensDalsgaard10 Your videos are dearly missed. Please continue uploading. Your performance of "Wedding at Troldhaugen" is my favourite of all time.
I have listened to your captivating performance of this beautiful piece many times over the past few years and have decided to finally learn this piece which has been on my Piano Bucket List!
Me again! It’s our 61st wedding anniversary tomorrow, 2nd April. This date also marks one year that my husband suffered a massive stroke. He survived thanks mainly to his courage and determination, but our endless and grateful thanks must also go to the National Health Service in Eastbourne who saved his life that awful day. We both love this beautiful composition by Edvard Grieg and send our thanks and appreciation to you, again, for sharing your music with us....thank you.
My husband partially recovered from the stroke. However, he has returned to the Eastbourne District General Hospital for the 7th time and is currently still there. He battles on and is determined to return home eventually. I shall visit him tomorrow. A 1 hour slot is all that's permitted, per day, but we are grateful for that. He listens to Classic fm on his ipad and the fine music played on this bbc radio programme keeps him calm and in a good place. Thank you for asking after my husband's welfare....
I am 11 years old and I am playing this piece for an audition and if I play this piece well, I will play at Carnegie Hall, so I need a good inspiration video, and this is the one, because the feeling is brought out, certain parts are very smooth. Perfect!
Excellent tempo and phrasing. I often find that non-Norwegians for some odd reason play Grieg's pieces too slow and sluggish, both piano and orchestral works, but this is as bright and clear as it should be. Maybe it helps being Danish ... When I say "should", it's based on my point of view as a native Norwegian who has heard Grieg all his life. There are of course no strict rules and performers are free to interpret the way they want, but then reference points are also part of classical music culture.
His technique, and precise flourishes are astounding. Some of the cascades are a little too rapid, but his control and nuances are to be commended. As a solo piano piece, I think this is the finest rendition/interpretation I've ever heard.
The best interpretation I've ever heard. With his perfectly judged tempo and dynamics, Mogens Dalsgaard delivers every nuance this piece has... He makes me feel not only all the happiness but also a hint of sorrow within the song.
Mogens, it's March 2019... and I am still listening, and still mesmerized by the wonderful and timeless music, by Grieg, and the feeling put into the whole piece by you. Thank you.
It's our Ruby Wedding anniversary today. It really doesn't seem anything like forty years. I'm playing this for my lovely husband. Married 20-12-1975 forty years today. I wouldn't change him for the world.
Our daughter just played this in a recital today. We love your interpretation! Not many pianists play this with correct technique, but you play it flawlessly. Our favorite of the youtube recordings we've heard of this piece.
+Mogens Dalsgaard Your interpretation does indeed allow the proper timing for the listener to follow and absorb Grieg's intent which I think is to experience the range of emotions a bride may feel at her wedding.
mr. dalsgaard, what an extraordinary pianist you are! i enjoy your playing of wedding at troldhaugen more than i can say. you have given many of us a very great pleasure. your friend, raymond good
There's a story here. Fifty plus years ago this tune was heard on the radio in America, probably from the musical "Song of Norway", which I never saw or heard. But someone did, and disc jockeys were shoehorning it into the airwaves. "The End of the Road". That's what we called the place we lived. The cedar Forest on the West Coast of Washington State was the End. No matter what your past, you could make a living there in the cedar mills. I was 20, with no where else to go. Weird people were there, too. Not cedar rats, like myself, but artists. I saw them drive by, dressed in their get-up. Always in their get-up. Local cops always pulled over anyone new in town because, yes, it was the End of the Road. One evening, for no reason at all, I was at the Lake Quinault Lodge in the Olympic rain forest. Alone, of course. Why wouldn't I be? Then that fat man from the clown car waltzed in, sat down at the piano and played this very piece: "Wedding Day at Troldhaugen". It was a command performance, ordered by The Carpenter, because I was the only one there at the time. He was trying to reach me. In the next season I met my wife, who is still with me. I'm sure stuff like this happens to others, they just don't see it.
This is indeed the best interpretation of this piece on UA-cam and I have listened to several renditions. This interpretation expresses pure joy, happiness and the promise of a new beginning.
This is amazing! I'm 14 and learning to play this piece and watching this inspired me and gave me ideas on how to play it. I like this better than any other performance on UA-cam
+Mosho322 Definitely worth memorizing. Not too hard since there's a lot of repetition in it. The only part I had trouble memorizing was the middle since I'd get bored after the adrenaline rush that is the beginning and end.
Ever since first discovering this when I was learning this piece years ago, I come back now as an adult and am still astounded by the musicality and playfulness and technique. My teacher always pointed to your wrists in this video and told me to learn from how relaxed they were, and the obvious lack of tension throughout your arms as well. Amazing performance that I come back to consistently, years later. Best on UA-cam.
Iridescent. Reminiscent of Lake Tahoe. The piano does the piece and the artist a service as well. Great if there are still ears to hear this in fifty or one hundred years. (it won't be mine though) Thanks for posting.
2019 and I am still listening to your beautiful rendition of this delightful piece by Edvard Grieg. It delights me as it always does. Thank you again for sharing your musical talent with us all.
I tend to be a fan of Baroque music in particular, when it comes to classical music, but I have developed a fondness for Grieg's work, and this is a delightful performance of one of his pieces.
Dear sir . Fantastic performance!! I love Grieg a underrated genius . I remember 40 years ago when I was in saudi arabia and heard this beautiful music (orchestra)and i have been in love with Grieg. The Norvegia soul appear to me . .. thank you and wishes from italy, bellagio , como lake , few metres from Liszt home , 1838 !!!!
Just excellent! This is in my top three favorite pieces (the other two both being Chopin: Polonaise Op53 and Prelude Op28 No17) and this is definitely one of the better performances I've heard of it!
Not entirely without critique however, the part starting around 1:08 as well as the second time it comes up later on sound a bit rushed. Just my opinion, but the rest of it was amazing.
my favorite piece

Funni filipino psychological thriller that traumatized me at least 3 times :]]]]]]]]

Thank you Raymond! You made my day.
I listen time after time and never tire of hearing this bright, sparkling piece of music....my husband and I thank you most sincerely.

Брилянтно,толкова красиво изпълнение....едно от най-добрите които съм чувал!🙏🏿🖤
Such a catchy tune, perfect for one of life's happiest occasions. I haven't heard it played better than this, either.
Hi Mark I'm classmates
What a treat, a touch and sound as crisp as crystal glass.
I had two lessons with Mr. Dalsgaard in 1970. I'll never forget his skill and guidance.
I am 11 years old and I am playing this piece for an audition and if I play this piece well, I will play at Carnegie Hall, so I need a good inspiration video, and this is the one, because the feeling is brought out, certain parts are very smooth. Perfect!
Good luck to you young person!
How did your audition go. I'm learning this also but just for UA-cam 😛
Wonderful - how it should be played - joyfully - we had this played after we were presented as husband and wife and exiting the church

I hate fast versions of this piece.
+B. Frost and vice Versa
håper du vet hva dette betyr, siden du er norsk
@Dan Wruck Agreed. Just re-listened -- "interesting" works for me.
hcholm Yes, the interpretation is often too gosh-darned slow. It’s a wedding, not a dirge! Great rendering here.
His technique, and precise flourishes are astounding. Some of the cascades are a little too rapid, but his control and nuances are to be commended. As a solo piano piece, I think this is the finest rendition/interpretation I've ever heard.
Excellent! Mogens fingers barely touch the keys of the piano! This is the best I have ever heard it played! Edvard Grieg would be proud!
I am so moved by his playing! This is exactly as I imagined it should be performed. Tears are coming down my checks
Thank you!
将来はピアノと共にこういう風に歳を重ねたい

A beautiful piece of music which could only be from Scandinavia. Cannot but help smile when I hear this piece.
This is easily the best performance of this piece that I have heard. Amazing how the kindness and love are highlighted when you play this.
Played with true feeling and exemplary taste. The search stops here.
Toll musikalisch und klangschön. Ich schließe die Augen und genieße die Hochzeitsgesellschaft...
I voted you up! This is one of the best performances I have heard of this piece! This is just great!
Замечательное исполнение! Очень точно и красочно передана картина свадебного дня. Приятная манера исполнения.Большое спасибо Большому мастеру!
Superb. The best i have ever heard. Speed is perfect.
The best interpretation I've ever heard. With his perfectly judged tempo and dynamics, Mogens Dalsgaard delivers every nuance this piece has... He makes me feel not only all the happiness but also a hint of sorrow within the song.
honestly came here to comment the same thing it’s incredible

listening again, almost a year later, and it still sounds fresh and beautiful. Thank you Mogens.......
2018...still as fresh as ever and a delight to listen to and savour. I listen and learn. Thank you....
Mogens, it's March 2019... and I am still listening, and still mesmerized by the wonderful and timeless music, by Grieg, and the feeling put into the whole piece by you. Thank you.
Superb performance by Mogens who looks so natural and relaxed. Beautiful piece of music by Grieg. So light and refreshing.
I'm 9 yrs late, but excellent play of my favourite Grieg's tune. Love your timing!
Not only a gorgeous interpretation and performance, but a beautiful Steinway too. Thank you for posting this wonderful Grieg performance.
..so beautifully played. thank you so much....I shall listen again straight away!
Pat Larkin Thank you so much.

Clockwork precision, with a unique interpretation, do yourself a favor and see everything with this pianist. Now I must go back and practice.

How beautifully played was that.!..such lyricism and grace. Thank you Mogens
