The tweak for adding the dialout group permissions was solid GOLD! thank you so much. Loving this series. Running Mint Maté on an _old_ toughbook and it's amazing how brisk the system is compared to Windows 7. Looking forward to seeing you guys again at Hamvention. 73 - Rich - AJ9H
Very nice. I have this exact same setup but - CQRLOG 2.5.2 and Ubuntu 20.04 plus FT-450D. Should be pretty much the same setup. QUESTION: USB CAT control cable - which one do you use?? Looking to identify the correct one before I buy it. Thanks! KC1PDR
Most Linux applications which have rig control use hamlib, which is a rig backend library compatible with most radios on the market. Other applications have their own control libraries. So yes, this application running on Linux supports hamlib and thus will be able to interact with whatever hardware you have.
Aside from what you showed in the video, what is a good method for troubleshooting settings for ports ? I followed everything you showed but still no RIG com. The interfaces are good as they work when I boot into WINDOWS. I run a dual-boot here. Ubuntu 18.04
Thanks alot man. This was great. Subbed. The equivalent Arch linux to dialout is uucp.
Thanks for the sub!

So happy to see that you are setting up a FT-450D which is also my radio. I can adapt your setting without thinking :)

I use the SCU-17, so it provides the interface for audio/serial cat to the shack computer.
Is there a linux equivalent to Omnirig that can be used with this logger?

Depends on the error. Most likely culprit is the permissions of the user. Have you added your user to the dialout group?
thanks thanks thanks, This is the best video I have seen and great that more people are using linux and you have been very helpful to me 73 TF2WIN
It's a little updated, we're working on Ubuntu 20.04 videos. Similar but a bit different approach to installing the software.
