    One thing Vance didn't stress was that the activator is responsible for uploading the correct information to the POTA site. The activator will note that two (or more) parks have been activated. The hunter does not need to do anything to have his/her logs uploaded.

    I kept waiting for a joke or something off the wall but actually learned something. Best April fool’s video ever.

    I know why POTA is so popular other than it just being fun and challenging both as an activator and hunter. The guys (and gals?) administering it are super nice and conscientious. Plus it helps with the app being top notch. Good job guys, and thanks for your volunteer effort!

    I wish pota would do awards for ssb only, Cw only and ft8 only. Those would be cool. Man this guy is super friendly. Gotta love our volunteers at POTA

      Yeah I don't really get into the awards part of it too much but I could see how that could be another thing to add.

    Derek's concern was probably because he expected his log to be correlated with the park activator's log and he wanted not to screw things up. Here, POTA's response is that the hunter logs are not looked at and don't matter to them. So, POTA seems to be scored based on the honor system and there is no cross-checking of logs to validate entries.

    • @hamradiotube
      @hamradiotube  2 роки тому +5

      You are correct, it is based on the honor system. Who's to stop you from just calling cq pota from your house? No-one. Other than your own integrity. Hunter logs are not looked at. There's no reason to cross check them. Trust me, people know is on the air. If activators were falsifying logs, it'd be pretty noticeable. Quite honestly, I'm proud that POTA has the integrity that it does. It would be really sad if we needed to cross check logs because people were falsifying them. I think we hold ourselves to a higher standard. POTA has other suggestions for correcting a log if a hunter does not see their callsign in the database for a particular activation.

    I realize this video is over 2 years old; I felt the need to say my thoughts on this.
    To me, multiple entries on a personal log for one QSO is senseless. On paper logs, I believe most of the time all the info can be entered on one line, maybe two lines max. On QRZ, still only one entry with parks in comments or if I'm an activator, I'll click on the "Contest" button then fill my park reference on the "INFO SENT", & if a QSO is a P2P, the other station's reference on "INFO RECEIVED" field, leaving the "Contest field to "none" and the rest of the fields blank.
    I've only started POTA activity in the last couple months; like K4SWL, I still log on a pad. Later, I'll transfer the log into a REAL log book while I can still read my scribble, then enter on QRZ. I haven't done anything with LOTW yet; when it comes back available, I may register for that.
    I short, however a hunter wants to log is up to the hunter, as Vance said. I wouldn't make it complicated. 73, Steve KC4JGC

    QRZ won't let me add 2 entries to the same station at the exact time. So I just put them in one minute apart. for a 3 fer I put the first one in a minute before the contact, the 2nd one at the actual time, and the third in a minute later. It hasn't failed me yet.

    Would like to know how to log park to park?
    As a hunter in a park, do I submit a log? Or list them on my activation log???

  • @larrytaylor7753

    Being that many Hunters are very much into their scores and POTA data, I feel like it’s my RESPONSIBILITY to accurately and rapidly upload my activation logs.

    • @hamradiotube
      @hamradiotube  2 роки тому +1

      Absolutely. Though I'll be honest, I don't always upload them immediately. Within a couple days though.

    It would be nice to simplify logging.
    There is a lot of work that goes into planning, activating, logging, creating, and just plain living. Making logging simpler would get a high five from me.

    • @hamradiotube
      @hamradiotube  2 роки тому +1

      I don’t really think it can be any simpler than it already is for POTA.

    am i missing something? when i send the hamrs pota log to qrz it shows that i made contact with them at their qth not the park location. can someone explain what a new person should do or is this something not to be concerned about...tks

    Is there some way in HAMRS to log two parks at once as an activator?

    • @hamradiotube
      @hamradiotube  2 роки тому +2

      No. You just have to change the log and submit it twice. Once for each park. There’s no need to log twice.

  • @royarchibald6392
    @royarchibald6392 2 роки тому +1

    I used to make separate entries for multiple parks, but QRZ would kick them as dupes so I just started putting the other park number(s) in the comments.

    Vance, I use two entries so that when I log, I can see if I have already worked that park - ACLOG keep track of that for me - de K8MH

      He’s saying log if you want but only one will count as the hunter. Actually there’s no need to log at all as the hunter. Pota is the honor system so the activator does all the heavy lifting when logging.

      It took almost 15 minutes of bloviating to essentially say "Hunters - Log One Park because the other park is moot. Pick which QTH you want."
