Welcome to part 11 of my "Logic Pro 11 Essentials" course! In this video I cover the following: 1. Demonstrate of all edit tools in the piano roll editor 2. Note entry, trimming, editing MIDI notes 3. MIDI region automation with modulation wheel 4. Access tools with the tool menu Check out Boombox, the sponsor of this video ➛ bit.ly/boomboxsponsor For mixing/mastering work, contact me at my website ➛ carneymediagroup.com Follow MusicTechHelpGuy on Instagram ➛ instagram.com/musictechhelpguy Chapters: 0:00 Overview 0:22 Sponsor Segment 1:22 Edit Tools 2:22 Pointer Tool 4:42 Pencil Tool 5:51 Eraser Tool 6:20 Finger Tool 6:58 Scissors Tool 9:49 Join Tool 11:00 Mute Tool 12:07 Quantize Tool 13:05 Velocity Tool 14:20 Zoom Tool 14:58 MIDI Automation 19:56 Brush Tool 21:51 Additional Piano Roll Features
With the velocity tool, for me, to make notes that are different velocities into the same velocity instead of keeping them relative, I had to hold SHIFT as well as OPTION. I wonder why?
I use the scale quantize to check if my set or moved notes are in scale. If the Q is disabled then I know the note(s) is/are right in scale. For me this is helpful as I only have a basic music theory knowledge and Logic does not support showing only notes in scale like other DAW can (e.g. Ableton Live)
Is there a shortcut for toggling through different windows? I mean can I shift the blue highlighted area from Piano roll to arrangement window or vice versa?
Unfortunately, no. That's something I've been hoping for for years. Even Pro Tools can do it! You have to manually trim the ends of notes to the grid, or use the Shift + Backslash shortcut if the notes are adjacent.

Is there a way to make the grid lines more visible?

Can I quantize the note ends with the quantize tool? Thanks.
