Make sure your chain gypsy is calibrated to 5/16 G4 chain. I just replaced the original 8mm chain with 5/16 G4.

Yup, we did that ! Just as long as the gypsy is correct once we get the windlass (comin up next lol)

Just as a hint regarding your batteries. I was able to replace the two batteries in my Catalina 30 with batteries built from Cells. I have around 560AH at 12 volts and it cost me with the tools around $1200 to build to two batteries. I guess you can build one and still have a good bit more than those three batteries can provide unless they are super deep. Docan Power has individual 280AH cells for around $110 US, and getting four gives you a 12 volt battery. You can replace all four of the lead acid with one four cell battery about the size of one of your current batteries. It will charge faster and can be discharged really low so if your batteries are 4x100ah discharging them to 50% gives you 200ah. One LifePO4 gives you realistically with safety margins and cycle life extension of cycling from 10% capacity to 90% capacity would still give you like 250AH. Each one of those lead acid batteries is probably $150US to $250 US. So if you feel the need to change your batteries Salty Escape did a good battery build. Though sometimes you need to set up special charging parameters on your chargers or replace them, etc...in order to deal with LIFEPO4.

Thanks for the info ! I’m sure many can benefit from this also!
We have new batteries installed & new start batteries also - Captain Jeff has outfitted joco with a good backbone so hopefully we won’t have to change anything for a while ! We have a video all about them from our last season if you want to take a look. We’ve also been asked to go into more detail on everything ‘power’ related so stay tuned for a q&A video featuring that topic!

@@sailingjoco Run what you've got till it's dead definitely. Sometimes the costs of moving to a new battery technology just don't make sense as well. You might consider moving to lithium when your current installation gives out. That is why I compared the cost to new lead batteries.

Yes that may be the direction we go in the future ! We’ll see how the tech improves as time goes on 👌
