      The actual reason America bombed pearl harbor was because imperial Japan was aggressively trying to expand, and everyone was tired of ww1 and 2 so the US decided to just nuke them. The US was also afraid Imperial Japan would contribute to more deaths then what the atomic bomb delivered.

      @@featherskaijay3060 That's a fact, there would have been far more than just 100k casualties, far more civilian and military deaths, plus far more damages in every region. They would have never surrendered unless the emperor told them to, if they were captured they'd commit suicide before surrendering... Which irl was a common occurrence, if not attempting suicide kamikazes. Although it would have definitely made the Cold war more chill and easy at its beginning, the nuclear arms race would have a few more years to begin. But yeah, overall it would have been far worse a naval/land invasion over all of Japan for both sides.

      Ephesians 5:1-20
      Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
      But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person-such a person is an idolater-has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient. Therefore do not be partners with them.
      For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. But everything exposed by the light becomes visible-and everything that is illuminated becomes a light. This is why it is said:
      “Wake up, sleeper,
      rise from the dead,
      and Christ will shine on you.”
      Be very careful, then, how you live-not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

    • @TheLordVictor
      @TheLordVictor 8 днів тому

      It took a lot more bombs than that. The nukes were not the only ones being dropped on Japanese cities, so to the Japanese government Hiroshima and Nagasaki were essentially just 2 more tallies on a long list. They were already planning on surrendering before the nukes were dropped and were just looking for an avenue to do that would still protect the status of the imperial family. If those two cities in particular had any effect on the decision-making of the war leaders to surrender they sure didn't ever hint at it in any documentation. It did make for a convenient post-war excuse for surrendering "with honor" though, which did make the decision more politically palatable.
      The idea that the nukes "ended the war" is revisionist history to justify and/or rationalize one of the most egregious and senseless offenses in world history. Hiroshima and Nagasaki were not military targets, those specific cities were picked as nuke sites literally for their shock value.

    Just want to add a few points:
    1. America wasn't chilling away the war. Through the Lend-Lease Act, we sent the UK, USSR, and other allies some war materials through Atlantic convoys way before Japan hit Pearl.
    2. The atom bomb was a culmination of the firebombing campaigns before, which arguably were more destructive.
    3. It wasn't as simple as Japan surrendered and it was over like that.
    Chain of events leading to Japan's surrender went something like this:
    The first bomb dropped and hit Hiroshima, and there was no response from the Big Six (who basically made the decisions for whether Japan gives up or keeps fighting).
    Then, the Soviets invaded Manchuria and absolutely demolished the Kwantung Army.
    Then the second bomb dropped around 10 hours later and hit Nagasaki. And even after that, the Big Six were at a 3-3 tie on whether to give up or keep fighting, only being broken by Emperor Hirohito himself in favor of surrendering.
    4. The government may have chosen to surrender, but the army mostly did not. Even after Hirohito made the decision to give up, 2 out of the 3 area commanders (one in China, the other being in Southeast Asia) declared that they will keep fighting, and some Japanese military officers attempted to coup the emperor and steal the surrender broadcast in a desperate attempt to keep the war going, which is known as the Kyujo Incident.
    5. The reason behind this is that Japan was expecting an amphibious invasion of the home islands and were preparing themselves through Operation Ketsugo.
    The U.S. had that plan to invade the home islands, Operation Downfall, which arguably would have cost more lives on both sides. But thankfully, Operation Downfall was cancelled due to the bomb's success.
    5.5. There were so many Purple Hearts made in anticipation for all the U.S. servicemen that will be wounded or killed in Operation Downfall, that the Purple Hearts being awarded to soldiers up until 2020 were from that stockpile 80 years ago.
    6. There was a third atomic bomb in construction, meant to be dropped on the 19th of August, but since Japan gave up on the 15th, it wasn't used... and it's main component became the infamous Demon Core.

      Actually, Japan surrendered because of a combination of the second bomb and the Soviet invasion of Manchuria

    • @soonerfrac4611
      @soonerfrac4611 2 місяці тому +6

      Significantly more than just that. They captured a pilot who stated that we had hundreds of bombs. The Japanese had been unsuccessful in their own bomb making efforts and believed that most we might have had 2. At that point we actually had 3, with production capacity to build one a month or two. It was their belief that we had the ability to level the entire country.
      Mind you, the Bat Bomb would have had significantly higher death rates.

      Thats not true at all japan surrendered a couple days after. It took months for isolated Japanese groups to surrendered because they never thought a bomb or the emperor would ever happen. The soviet union really didnt have a factor the chinese front was not a priority and the russians wouldnt be able to reach the Japanese homeland and would need significant american assistance. This is a incredibly dumb narrative that played little to no factor in the decision.
