Love seeing these beautiful brides and their dresses from different eras! Especially loved the doll-like bride at 2:17. I wore vintage for my weddding! Nothing like vintage clothes!!
Wonderful photos. My family has long roots in Iowa. I have my great grandmother's wedding portrait and her wedding dress; she was of second generation German American. She was married in 1891, and her dress was a dark olive color and she had a 17 inch waist. My Irish grandmother was married in 1918, and she wore a dark suit that could be worn again. I loved seeing these photos
Thank you for the upload of wedding gown pictures. I look at the brides and wonder how their lives went: how many children did they have? were they happy? how long did they live? Some of those lovely girls look a little bewildered, but hopeful, too. And so beautiful.
I think these dresses are truly amazing. I don't mind the puff sleeves. Each dress is a story. The craftsmanship is perfect.Could you imagine wearing one of these dresses in the 30's or 20's?Please do not compare the dresses in the past to dresses now. It is a totally different lifestyle and educates. If you tried to get any one of the white dresses today it would be sooo expensive.I love lots of fabric !!!!
What a wonderful hobby collecting bridal pics, I knew a person who collected bride and groom figurines from off the tops of all the wedding cakes of the world. A very happy hobby!
They are beautiful!! I think a couple of the pictures where of first communion, too young to be brides. We Catholics also wear veils for our first communion.
1:12 and 3:46 are two of the loveliest women I've ever seen. Wonder how all these ladies' marriages turned out... if they were happy, had lots of kids to enjoy, and life was good to them.
After Queen Victoria married in white, it became trendy. My grandparents married in 1905, and I treasure the picture. Details are visible with a magnifying glass. You can bet she vowed to obey.
To those women who could not afford a beautiful wedding dress wore a rather plain suit of grey or brown and dressed it up with a ruffled collar which was detachable.
The second photo is not a wedding dress. It's a Court Presentation dress. Note the ostrich feathers in her hair. And yes, in those days, you did wear a veil and a train on your Court Presentation gown. Also, the dress at around the 3:03 mark. This is also a Court Presentation gown.
That was really so very interesting .. I love your editing add-ons like the cloud heart and little good job!..and thxs so much for sharing..it took me most of the day to be able to find my reading glasses so I could get a very good look.. there were a couple of dresses that I really prefer over the rest.. each time I thought I had my pick of which one I like the most I saw another one I like on down the video.. there's something about seeing wedding dresses that could cause a woman to want to get married!.. I could not help but to wander about some of the women in the video.. how did their lives go after the marriage..
There are several photos that are not actually wedding dresses, they are debutantes dressed to be presented at Court. There is one photo of Princess Dagmar of Denmark who is simply in an evening dress of the period and at least one of the sitters in in fancy dress for a ball and not in a wedding dress.
Binkle Babe I agree with you Binkle Babe! Mutton sleeves are gorgeous! In fact, those were the sleeves I had on my own wedding dress 33 years ago! I still have the dress and, my veil which is cathedral length. Luckily, I am still married. How I wish we could wear those sleeves today. Victorian women were true women who knew how to dress!
I noticed that the texture of women’s hair was different in the Victorian days because they would make homemade shampoo using bar Castile bar soap as the base or they would shampoo their hair with lye. Conditioner in those days would have been a raw egg. Also women were encouraged not to wear makeup….but those who did used rouge as lipstick.
I'm fairly sure the one at 3:04 is a Presentation photo, not a bride. Note the ostrich plumes on her head, the train, and the fact that she is wearing short sleeves and long gloves, which would have been unheard of for a day dress (i.e. a wedding) at the time
Am I right in thinking the lady at 3.33 is Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother? It looks very much like her. She looks gorgeous - but I have to say one or two of the brides looked a touch ferocious!
The photo of the the Lady Elisabeth Bowes-Lyon was as a Bridesmaid at the wedding of her future SIL Princess Mary, daughter of George V and Queen Mary.
Oh my they sure knew how to dress like a woman and show off what they needed to, they most likely took the mans breath away when he saw her. And they knew how to pick out some lovely bouquets
Patti Brown ...My guess would be teeth, modern dentistry was SLOW in progress....I always THINK I would like the old times, then I remember there is one modern convenience most would miss, and that is dentistry🤣🤣
Some of them in the early 18hundred 19 hundred 1925 - 1930 u can just imagine the years they looked just adorable eligent even the bride's they looked lovely
I went to a bridal fashion show and all the new dresses are strapless, and have been that way for almost the last 20 years. In fact, they all look like the same dress rehashed; I was so bored and disappointed. It's such an unflattering style, especially on plus size brides, who I frequently see wearing it and were also shown modeling it. It's also an immodest style, reminiscent of hypersexual Marilyn Monroe. These old dresses are so lovely by comparison, though not thrilled with the puffy sleeves of the Victorians. Rather makes one think of terrible 80s fashion.
Amethyst Rabbit I agree with you100% about those mind numbingly boring and unflattering shoulderless wedding dresses! And it seems as though we're doomed to be stuck with them forever. If I were getting married today I'd be designing my own dress.
At one time a high society bride wore her wedding dress to all social occasions for one year afterward. The concept of a wedding dress only being worn for the wedding is a relatively new one.
The custom was that the wedding dress was to be a lady's best dress and after the wedding it would be altered to become an evening dress, normally by the alteration of the neck line, removal of the family lace that was only lightly sewn on to embellish the dress and the train was removed. The only part of the bridal attire that was only worn once was the veil.
For those who commented on their unhappiness, please know your history. It took several minutes to take a picture and it was impossible for anyone to hold a smile that long. Women were not forced into an unloving marriage. On please, where do people learn such nonsense?
I agree that it took some time to take a photograph in those days, but arranged marriages did take place..maybe not for any of the brides in these photos, but for many others. And this has happened throughout history.
Utterly beautiful... the handcrafted work that went into these must have taken ages, I don't mean to sound stupid but could anyone tell me what era they are from?
Most of these put a resl.emphasis on having an.outstanding veil. Having seen my aunt"s wedding dress picture dated late 1930's I can see yards and yards of veil I guess it meant luxury
Not one smile. I know in the earliest photographs that is the result of the necessity of holding still for a long period but you would think that in the later photos there would be at least one smile or even a half smile.
Preciosas postales de hermosas mujeres , como sugerencia me hubiera gustado que hubieses puesto lugar y año . Pero un hermoso viaje al pasado igualmente .
So lovely to see brides that don't look they are in a Las Vegas show or going to a cocktail party

They are absolutely beautiful. Gorgeous!

Exquisite Wedding gowns .. Love most every one of them! Mine was with Peals /Lace and Hooped Slip . Reminded me of some of these.
Aah!! The power of LOVE!! Beautiful brides who enter a new life & path full of dreams & future for all of us.
Somehow sad to think that they all are already gone...
What a wonderful hobby collecting bridal pics, I knew a person who collected bride and groom figurines from off the tops of all the wedding cakes of the world. A very happy hobby!
Would have loved to have known the years on these.
Its great to look through these photos, I definitely like the second photo the dress is amazing, I would pick this as the best dress.
Long gone. Hope marriage was good to them .
Must be more beautiful if the photos were in colour. I must say they all had neat figures and look very romantic and lovely.
So wonderfull and romantic....
They are beautiful!! I think a couple of the pictures where of first communion, too young to be brides. We Catholics also wear veils for our first communion.
Beautiful..
Some of the dresses are just so complicated ...but gorgeous...and long, long trains....
These photos are breathtakingly beautiful
Such beautifuls dresses! but such sadness on the bride 's faces! 😔
Gorgeous, actual outfits that put one a proper mood
Exquisite! Nice video, several repeats, but great job presenting your work. 👍☺⚜
All beautiful satin & lace. I'll watch this many times to note details. Thank you.
I especially loved the dress and veil at 0.49. Because of the timeless silhouette, that dress could be worn today with very little alterations.
The bride at 1:37 is Queen Victoria’s daughter, Princess Louise.
Nice brig for èveŕ,,,!
Much prettier then todays fashion.

Beautiful bridges. I wonder where all these beautiful gowns are now...

You are exactly right. She is the Baroness Christine Marie Ludmilla von Linden -1898
Beautiful!!!!!! 💜 love sharon
I pieced togethet a vintage wedding dress for my first wedding from a beautiful Edwardian blouse and an underpetticoat.
I wish I could see it!!
Как прекрасны, целомудренны, скромны. Просто ангелы
Beautiful!! Best photos i've ever seen
All so beautiful, hope it all worked out for them x

The bride at 1:41 is Princess May of Teck, later to be known as Queen Mary, wife of King George V and grandmother of Queen Elizabeth II.
I wonder where these beautiful wedding dresses are hidden to this day !
At 1:33 is Princess Alice, another of Queen Victoria’s daughters.
There are actually MANY royal brides in there as well as from the nobility. . . I counted at least twelve of them.
The most of the dresses are so beautiful😍
Queen Mary looked stunning.

love all the wedding dress so ...beautiful

AM Hunter I’d agree.
The photo of the the Lady Elisabeth Bowes-Lyon was as a Bridesmaid at the wedding of her future SIL Princess Mary, daughter of George V and Queen Mary.
Beautiful! But slow it down a bit...not enough time to really take in each image.
I think some of these lovely ladies were debutants judging by the feathers adorning their veils.
Oh my they sure knew how to dress like a woman and show off what they needed to, they most likely took the mans breath away when he saw her. And they knew how to pick out some lovely bouquets
Well said😉
victorians never smiled very much what's with that?

Amethyst Rabbit I couldn't agree with you more.
I agree, I would rather have a wedding dress with sleeves.
Latter Day Bride sells beautiful, modest dresses. They're online. My daughter got her dress from there.
I'd like a dress like this. Strapless is so difficult to wear.
So beautiful!
At one time a high society bride wore her wedding dress to all social occasions for one year afterward. The concept of a wedding dress only being worn for the wedding is a relatively new one.
Thank you for this bit of information about wedding dresses being worn multiple times.
And can be expensive as all hell. I find it ridiculous to spent so much money on a dress you can only wear once. That money can be put to better use.
For those who commented on their unhappiness, please know your history. It took several minutes to take a picture and it was impossible for anyone to hold a smile that long. Women were not forced into an unloving marriage. On please, where do people learn such nonsense?

And this has happened throughout history.
It’s because of those huge flash bulbs that would pop
Le spose ei vestiti da sposa sono meravigliosiiii
wow how preety looks like we could wear them today
Love all of these the women are all so pretty back then.
Their dresses look really beautiful and expensive, how come that the other brides look so sad.
Loved it but, the photos are too fast. You're not able to absorb the beauty of each bride.
I use the pause button to gaze longer.....they are beautiful.....the layers and textures, no semi nudity here, all class and grace.....loved it too.
Debbie Vesa Me too!! I especially loved seeing what the ladies wore during the 1850-1860's period, and when a couple of the ladies smiled a little!
You can alter the speed that youtube videos play at. The music will sound odd, but you can slow this one way down.
Utterly beautiful... the handcrafted work that went into these must have taken ages, I don't mean to sound stupid but could anyone tell me what era they are from?
Beautiful. Thank you.
😳 amazing. Beautiful. Gorgeous.
Me gusta todo lo antiguo la moda victoriana muy bonitas fotos
omg, BEAUTIFUL.
Beautiful Dresses.

I think all brides are beautiful.

After the cocktail hour.
I kept my dress . Hope in 100 years my great great great grand daughter will wear it
Beautiful!!!
Muy hermosas... gracias x compartir!
No mass factory produced wedding dress. All made by hand by wonderful seamstresses.
Brides are so beautiful.
I don't know why.
I've never been married.
Maybe I'm afraid I'll spoil-it or something.
Spoil what ?
Exactly.
Like except they are random, not by date. Would have loved better by date to watch style transition...but love it!
Dont give up on us ... I can't live if living is without you
Amazing. Wish the video was slower.
Beautiful 😍😍😍😍😍
I love these
At 3.33 is Elizabeth Bowes Lyon, the Queen Mother.
awesome .
In with these beautiful brides I saw two rather distressed looking younger girls. Strange.
It's normal wake up. World is satanic and ppl who don't care are going to Hades or hell. God bless you!!!!!!
This may have been an arranged wedding. Not unusual for this time period.
Beautiful x
These are not "vintage" brides. They are antique, or ancient, if you prefer. Beautiful, evocative and full of history, all of them.
So beautiful
Aww wonderful
Preciosas postales de hermosas mujeres , como sugerencia me hubiera gustado que hubieses puesto lugar y año . Pero un hermoso viaje al pasado igualmente .
Beautiful.
Lovely - & no visible tattoos.
Oh. So beautiful.
Awww I love reading these comments this was my old UA-cam page awwww
And not one of them looks happy. One has her hand on the door handle like she wants to make a break for it.
She probably did make a break for it.
Some of those were included twice
Obviously wealthy brides for that time.
Вот у каких фотографов надо сниматься на свадьбе! К сожалению ко дню моей свадьбы уже их не было, и таких фотоаппаратов тоже!
Beautiful
Considering the era, many of these women had no choice in husbands their fathers decided who they would marry.
