      The players did not regress based off of there own performance it’s the coaches not lighting a fire under all these players. The packers organization is too soft from top to bottom. Robert saleh would have been the energy we need, a Dan Campbell type.

    The Packers were “statistically” good because they played teams like the Titans and Colts. They had a soft schedule. When the Packers played actual teams like the Lions, Vikings, and Eagles they got smacked in the mouth. If they dont make a far run this upcoming season, Matt LaFleur needs to be on the hot seat.

    I think what is often overlooked when it comes to the Packers is that they are still in rebuilding mode after they wasted the entire draft of 2021. In that draft Packers drafted Stokes instead of JOK, Myers instead of Creed Humphrey and Amari freaking Rodgers instead of Nick Collins or St Brown. All of these alternatives were quite obvious picks, rated way higher on the consensus board than our picks. The rest of the draft was horrible too. After this year all of those picks will probably be out, and we have a chance to rebuild the talent in the room. This infamous 2021 draft impacted two regimes: both Aaron Rodgers and Jordan Love were significantly hampered by the ineptitude of our management and scouts at the 2021 draft.

  • @Matt-yq3gq

    The answer is simple. They added Josh Jacobs and Xavier McKinney. They played a weak schedule and then all the young guys of 2023 first half of year weren’t awful anymore. That’s the difference. Their floor was raised and they were better than 2023 first half of season, but They were worse than 2023 2nd half of season and their ceiling lowered.

      The defense made a big jump while the offense was inconsistent! We need a demolition man on the defensive line. Someone who can destroy guards or tackles. A press man CB with NFL experience will be good. Maybe a veteran WR can help the offense. Load up in the draft, and then I think we're ready to take anybody on.

    • @Matt-yq3gq
      @Matt-yq3gq 8 днів тому

      @@vincentanzisi9772 it’s a valid counterpoint if they didn’t go 0-6 in those games. They beat the lions and chiefs last year, beat the hell out of the cowboys in the playoffs and had the 49ers on the ropes, hence this years team having a worse ceiling but a higher floor.

    I think LaFleur got more conservative once he realized he could lean on Jacobs. There was a real, negative psychological effect of being a "power running" team. The drop in Reed's production follows that pattern for sure. More power runs and less play action. The power running strategy worked against bad teams, but not elite ones.

    The 2 best players on this team are players we signed, not drafted and developed. For a franchise that is chained to the hip of the draft and develop strategy to not get players that develop is disturbing. Gutey has drafted 48 players, including 9 1st rounders. How many of those have got to 2nd contracts? 4 (Ja, Gary, Elgton, and JLo) technically 5 i suppose if you include Dillon and the only player that got to a 3rd deal, was Kenny who was drafted by Ted. How many pro bowlers drafted? 3 (Ja, Elgton, and Gary). how many all pros? 1 (Ja, 2nd team). How many ROTY? none. OPOY? None. DPOY? None. Sure Gutey can spot enough talent in the later rounds to form a competitive roster but we dont have the star power needed to make the jump from competitive to competitor and there's a big difference between the two. These "project" or "developmental" players, especially in the 1st round and early rounds, has to stop all together or get better.

    Green Bay only 'regressed' in 2024 if you saw 2023 as normal, and expected to go to the Superbowl in 2025. The Packers over performed in 2023, and looked better than they really were, and, with Love's injury in 2024 they under performed. The reality of they youngest team in the league both years was somewhere in the middle. By the numbers, the Pack got better. As an aside, I really didn't like to see Love playing when he was hurting and not 100%; in 2025 I hope GB will not hesitate to use Malik Willis - he's a real talent, wouldn't mind seeing some packages with both Love and Willis on the field at the same time.

    There is no doubt the defense improved but the offense certainly did not. Jacobs was the lone bright spot but LaFluer did not seem to know how to take advantage of the running game to improve the passing game. In the end, the Packers benefited from a easy schedule facing the AFC south and a banged up NFC west. They played the Rams and 49ers when they were decimated by injuries, a poor Saints team, and Miami at home in the cold. They got destroyed by the Division and was a blocked FG from getting swept. No signature wins over better record opponents. So, did they get better overall? That's a debate.

  • @mt_baldwin

    Well for one thing a big part of our "improvement" is a mirage, one created by playing the putrid AFC south for 4 games (how many games better was our record over 2023? oh...).
    We did get better in some places, the defense was better, McKinney, Jacobs and McManus were amazing additions. But the offense regressed, Love regressed, he was either reckless with turnovers or if he was careful became a non factor.
    I just want to point out, Texans OC Bobby Slowik was fired, despite them making the divisional round, because the young QB he was tasked with developing regressed from their standout first year starting. Just saying maybe Love's regression should have consequences for the person tasked with his development. Should LaFleur be fired? No. Should he be knocked off the high pedestal he's been put on by so many people and become open to criticism? Definitely.

    Fools gold. Thats what the stats says but can’t beat eagles, lions and Vikings. Eagles beat winning teams and packers did not. Packers need to add more fire power on skill position. When the eagles need to make a crucial catch to keep driving going or when the run game is slow they were able to pass. The two no1 wr they have change how teams defend them as well. Do you defend the pass or the run. If you defend the wr the te gets open in the middle. Eagles are nightmare matchup for any team.

    The Green Bay Packers got better in many ways during this season, mostly in terms of winning more games and improving significantly on defense in the 1st year under Jeff Hafley. But it wouldn’t be unfair to say that the Green Bay Packers failed to reach their potential this season due to a number of individual players or position groups taking a step back or failing to take a meaningful step forward. The passing game and defensive front were especially troublesome areas by PFF grade and Jordan Love and his top 5 targets regressed compared to 2023, and all but 1 player from the defensive front took a fairly substantial step back. When push came to shove in big games, the Green Bay Packers just weren’t good enough in the passing game or disrupting up front on defense.
