  • Join me as I map out eight trails on Arizona State Trust land in Gold Canyon. These are super close to the Phoenix Metro area, have incredible views of the Superstition Mountains, and offer great camping opportunities. There are also popular hiking trails in the area.
    These trails have been published on the Trails Offroad website. It is my go-to when I am looking for new trails to run.
    These trails are on Arizona State Trust Land. A recreation permit is required. They can be purchased online at land.az.gov/ap...

    Thanks for a great video! We live in Apache Junction and have just started to develop some mapping and offroad skills. I have been viewing your content and find the information relevant to my search for offroad adventures. Now if I could just get this mapping thing nailed down! Thanks again for the awesome content.

      Glad you like the videos. I just make them for fun and for others to get ideas on trails. As for mapping I use GAIA GPS maps to record the trails. Works pretty good. You can add pictures and waypoints as well.

      @@Trail89Adventures Pretty much newbie to the tool issues. I'm struggling with what I'm sure are just basic tool usage processes. This is all very much new to me at this point.

    Nice area, just enough challenge to make it fun. I have a question, what are the two flashing lights on the back of your jeep?

      My version of a chase light. Gives good visibility from behind when you are kicking up a lot of dirt and dust during the day and great for night runs. They are KC Hilites Cyclone LED mounted to the hinge covers.

    Another great video I’ve watched several now.
    Im new to GAIA mapping- do you post your tracks/routes where they can be downloaded?

      I have been using Gaia for a while. I like it because I can create routes of where I want to explore. As for the GPX tracks, I create trail maps for the Trails Offroad app. When I first started off roading, I found the app very helpful in finding trails and worth the subscription. You can download the tracks right into Gaia from the app. You can get a free 7 day trial on the website.

      Haven’t gotten out there with the exception of Harquahala Mountain. So many trails to see in Arizona. Will never run out of something new.

    Hello sir! Love to explore this area and trail some day. Question... can you possibly share a pin drop where you started (&/or) your actual trail you took. I use Alltrails & Ride Command, do not have Gaia. Thanks so much! Randy

      Randy I have mapped a bunch of trails in this area. They are all available on TrailsOffroad app. I would recommend using the TrailsOffroad app rather than AllTrails. AllTrails is great for hiking but I find TrailsOffroad a great resource for off roading.
      The GPS coordinates of where I started this video and trail run:
      (33.3603128, -111.3958522)
      Hope that helps and thanks for watching.

    Hey I have been watching your videos. I recently picked up a 2024 Willys Wrangler. Do you think stock Willy's could handle this? Also, I would love to come out wheeling with you sometime. I would love to learn from you

      Thanks for watching. I don’t know all the specs of your Jeep but I can tell you what I had when I ran these trails. My Jeep was a stock Rubicon on 33” tires. The first downhill section in this video was pretty aggressive and I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it if you are newer to this.
      I mapped a lot of the trails back in this area and they are posted on Trails Offroad app.

      @@Trail89Adventures I just purchase the app! Are they searchable or labeled as "Scout Routes" or are they on the map near the Paralta Road near Turk's Head?? Thanks!! 🌵

    • @Trail89Adventures
      @Trail89Adventures  4 місяці тому

      @@mikecrivello4908 I find the easiest way is to select the map icon and center the map in the area where you are interested in finding trails. The solid lines are full trail guides, and the dashed lines are scout routes. Scout Routes are shorter versions of full trail guides.
      Green = easy, Yellow = moderate, Red = difficult, Purple = extreme, Black = severe.

    • @Trail89Adventures
      @Trail89Adventures  4 місяці тому

      In the upper right hand corner of the app, you can select the layers icon and filter out full trail guides, scout routes, and / or level of difficulty.

    • @Trail89Adventures
      @Trail89Adventures  4 місяці тому

      Once you select a trail go to the bottom and click the Navigation Options, here you can link the app with Gaia GPS, or on full trail guides use the Follow Mode.
