- Solder smoke is nasty. Even if you're using lead-free solder (as you should), rosin flux and tin fumes should not be inhaled. This little desktop USB-powered fume extractor gets those nasty fumes out of your face, and doubles as a nice little upcycled fan for hot days.

Awesome idea and video, thank you!
What you said about (lithium) batteries at 2:20 is so true. Nowadays there are cordless options for almost all devices because people hate cables. People forget that lithium batteries can be a fire hazard. Also many batteries are built-in and devices are thrown away when the battery life gets bad - what a waste :(. I'm not completely against battery powered devices, I just think we need to think about if it's really necessary for the devices we are looking to buy.
Honestly!! Completely agree. It's REALLY easy to screw things up with any high-power battery... I'm starting to lean away from them in my projects. It'll takes just one failure to ruin my whole life.
awesome dude, looking forward to making this!
I’d be curious to know if using a pressure-optimized fan with an activated carbon/particulate-absorbing filter would work better than a volume-optimized fan. Basically a case fan vs a radiator fan - not sure how much resistance the filters would add
Good point! Would be interesting to see the comparison. Maybe something for @MajorHardware's Fan Showdown? 👀
This is incredible, genius! The exact definition of true innovation 💡 😊
You're too kind! Thank you.
