So far its pretty obvious chilled doesn't know what hes really doing, but when he went and took over all of Australia I felt so proud of him, but then.... he just keeps stacking all his men on his capital...
I mean to be fair, his capital was the only place keeping the whole of Australia from anyone else, so it wasn't too bad excluding the fact that the goal is to take over the *whole* world (So it was good for early game but not so much later on)
I enjoyed the video nonetheless, but the game play hurt my soul just a wee bit. Defending your territory is fine 'n all, but in a game like Risk you can''t just sit idly by and hope your opponents will just destroy one another. It's a game about grabbing a lead and running away with it. Chilled should've been deploying troops on the outer edges of his territory in order to start an aggressive push out of Australia.
As was said, there is only _one_ way into Australia which makes it an easy continent to defend. Placing troops in the back of it just made them useless as no one was suddenly going to try and flank them.
All in all though, this was Chilled's first experience with this version of Risk and I hope to see him play more nonetheless and progress into a better player.
@@Dracon350 I mean they did talk about Nooch's Japan landslide where he only held onto Japan for like forever...
Risk can have multiple strategies, you just have to be aware the main purpose is to take over the whole world.
Chilled's sheer lack of the understanding of strategy hurts my soul, reinforce your borders damn it.
It was super annoying cuz it's almost like he was willfully ignorant all it takes was watching vic do one turn to know how to play Vic pushes with majority of his troops leaving a minimum of three in the back lines to protect
Same here. It's almost like there's some kind of aversion to "Reading the F***in' Manual" or Tutorial of all things.
I gotta admit, stacking all of your troops on your Capital to do absolutely nothing with them is quite a bold strategy.
It can technically work out.
If you build up enough soldiers on one plot of land and everyone else has had their forces extremely thinned out from conflict then you can storm through almost everything in a single turn.
But it does require your opponents to not notice what you're doing.
"I thought New Zealand was more to the right"
it is, New Zealand is just not on the map
And someone tosses some paint on a map to represent Indonesia
r/MapsWithoutNewZealand
And Sri Lanka
Damn that’s rough for all the marrowies out there
@@simonblackwell3576 Maori*
"I'm going to Mongolia" He says as he clicks on Indochina.
INDONESIA OUTDONESIA CHINIA INA
At least he didn't say that Russia was the island of Hong Kong oh wait.
He's American, everyone knows that they have no idea about world geography
Shane Walta He makes us all look bad yeah, I’m one of few people in my town who knew Singapore was independent 😂
I lost 10 braincells when he did that lol
Him putting all his troops in his land locked capital was... aggravating lol.
It was his first game tho so all good!
You mean instead of the front lines to defend?
I mean that makes no one want to fuck with Australia so in the mental game (chilleds specialty) it's a sound tactic
@@Da_Shark Correct but Chilled doesnt need anyone making excuses for him xD
@@Da_Shark no one wants/ needs Australia
@@mlgcactus1035 As they said, no one really _wanted_ Australia when they just took over other continents instead. Why try and powerhouse through a nation that literally did nothing but sit there? Just wipe out the others first and then gather your troops before marching on the capital and take it down.
As a genuine strategy player, this video pains me on an emotional level.
Ck2, hoi4, eu4, Vicky 2, grand ages medivel, tropico, risk, age of empires
If you have not played all of these your not a true strategy gamer
@@vinfogaming5 I disagree with Tropico being a requirement, but yes, I've played all of them and more.
Then yes brother you are one with the order of strategy games
This was so annoying to see chilled out everything in his captial
Sylph I noticed that as well. It was agonizing to see him not know how to play. Hopefully they play again because this could be really fun.
So he doesn’t move those troops out of Australia
lately a lot of his gameplay has been a bit cringey imo
loved the guy more back when he was with the original Derp-Crew with Nanners
Sylph seriously... I’m gonna sound like an armchair general here but why the hell would you leave troops on the back lines unless you knew an opponent was about to literally rampage through your territory. Chilled could have won pretty early on too since he took Australia but nope instead he just wasted a lot of his turns putting them in useless areas.
I don’t like being a dick but come on... this is basics
@@targitausrithux2320 its like he's preparing for an Assassination via Ground-troops which have to crawl through 2-3 front-lines to get to
Tip: it’s always best to go the Australian continent because not only does it provide a continent bonus but it’s difficult as hell to capture once someone has fortified it not only that it’s the easiest continent bonus to get early on giving a slight advantage.
The tactics of rolling less than the max amount of dice you can use is you're forced to move that at least as many troops as you roll dice
FidelCatto i was curious about that
PLEASE DO THIS MORE OFTEN I LOVE RISK FACTIONS
Excuse me while I pour bleach into my eyes from Chilled's game "strategy"..
20:23 Chilled's distribution of troops is driving me nuts. You could've had Asia in two or a very luck one turn!!! WHY!!!!!!?!?!?!?
Chilled...I want you to know....that hurt to watch. It was right there! Like Thanos but you got nothing and it cost you everything!!! YOU LOSE, GOOD DAY SIR!
I’m enjoying the gameplay. But my god Chilled just beefing up his capitol when it’s not in danger and leaving his other fronts weak drives me up a wall. Still good commentary and gameplay otherwise.
"I'll go with Mongolia." Clicks on Thailand.
"Is that Hong Kong?" It was actually Russia.
This isn't just bad geography, this is . . .
Advanced bad geography.
*Indochina/Southeast Asia
Would love to see more of this game with this group and the derps
chilled should have the game guaranteed by turn 4, he could field so many troops and he kept the ALL in his capital. CHILLED, WHY DO YOU CHOOSE TO PLAY IT SAFE ON THE ONE GAME THAT REWARDS YOU FOR TAKING RISKS AND EXPANDING?????
He plays it safe in just about every game now
@@evanwilson7337 its literally named Risk tho
cause some people care about playing with friends rather then winning lol
Not seen Chilled play this in so long, glad he is!
Never thought you would play this game but I am so glad you did. Keep up the amazing content this 2020 Chilly :)
This is awesome. I'm so glad you played Risk, and I hope you'll play it again.
Chilled's strategy of dropping everything in Southeast Asia was a super defensive one. It's a risky strategy because you don't usually want that many trips buried deep behind your front line, even if it is to protect a continent. If you've got a well-built front line, ~6 on Southeast Asia will do the job against all but the strongest opponents. More troops than that means you've got a lot of strength you can't use. But, it can work late game if you have a bad run like Chilled did around the halfway point. Having all of them back there means you've got a solid second chance (still a lot of troops, plus the continent bonus for decent drafts), but you have to be more aggressive because you rarely get a third chance. lol
looks like Chilled learned that you never put all of your reinforcements too far away from your front lines.
In Brazil we play this game a lot, in board game format, it's called War and everyone, usually, plays it as a child. It's so fun to see chilled playing and being so lost and oh lord is he bad a geography lol
YESSSS!! I’ve been waiting my whole life for this moment! 😂😂
I love this game and I’m super excited to see more of it!
Fun fact: America is the 3rd largest country in the world. However, adding 1 billion extra people to the country would still make it the 3rd largest.
Sweet. I was just thinking about when you guys were going to play risk. Now here you are.
I’d love to see more of this game!
Omg yes I have always wanted you to play this game. A sunday morning surprise, but a welcome one, Chilly willy
Just a tip, defend chokepoints, not territories. Those troops you put in Australia behind your capital could've been on the front lines winning you new territory.
Love you Chilled!
the number of dice you roll, is the number of armies you have to move to that territory when you beat it
at least that many
Chilled playing risk? What a time to be alive
I am all for a second round of this now that you know more.
"Speedy, you have Alaska! Invade him from Alaska!" Chilled. Sidearm has Alaska. That's the Russian Alaska you're talking about.
I can remember the tales of tokyo nooch from 4 YEARS AGO... I'm a senior now and if anything my UA-cam taste just added more cursing
1:33 Has Chilled never heard of the MIMAL? For those who are confused, if you look at Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, & Louisiana, it looks like a Patriot.
5:11 The fact that Chilled came, saw, & conquered Australia all within the span of his 1st turn simultaneously amazes & frightens me.
FINALLY CHILLY PLAYS THIS GAME
I can’t believe how not only did no one get eliminated but also how remarkably even things played out
FUCK YES! Hahaha I get to watch these guys playing risk now!?! This is a great day!
After all these years Mr. Chaos I didn’t know you did giveaways until now!
"why are there americans in the middle...oh wait yea that makes sense." that got me
I enjoy these vids more than I should.
Ok so i'm gonna try to give chilled a little advice, If you have an entire continent (like he had Australia) under his control he should have a large amount defending that zone but he should have an invasion force (if his capital had 3 armies and he was given 10 he should put maybe 3 more armies on his capital and the rest on an area near a large sum of weak countries) so he can go on a war path through lands to gain way more ground.
It's so mildly infuriating "Well I guess the isolationist play is not what you want to do then?" " No." 'proceeds to big brain rest of the game.'
I don't know why the others didn't tell chilled to stop putting troops in his capital when there was no imminent threats. He was the only one doing that mistake, so presumably everyone else knew not to do that.
I've always wanted to play Risk (the board game) but felt a bit intimidated. Seeing this version makes me feel better about trying it.
And everyone is mentioning how Chilled stacked all his troops in one area...even I had a bad feeling about that call. But it's his first game 💁
I hope you play more Chilled!
chilled stop rolling!!!! No successor of Mussolini!
Why keep troops in a continet which is protected by 4+ territiries and capital with 10+ troops. Move them out and take undefended or less defeded territories like those aroud sides capital before he got airfield
Seeing Chilled playing RISK is enough to soak my undies.
21:01 - Since Chilled thought the Mongols were fake, I sincerely doubt this was meant to be a reference, but if I recall correctly, the Mongols *did* build ships to attack Japan and likely would've been successful had there not been a typhoon that wrecked the Mongols' forces. And don't quote me on this, but I think that was where the concept of "kamikaze" was first applied to warfare, as the term "Kamikaze" meant "Divine Winds", (again, don't quote me on that). Which is ironic because Chilled tried to do the same thing and similarly got wrecked.
Loving these vids with speedy, Vick and side! Maybe another pummel party with some deep crew members also?
my problem with this version of risk is that it's turn based, so if you're last in the rotation and everyone were to target you, it's hard to comeback from it. Anything you set up for your next turn could be taken out before you have the chance. I feels to be more more luck than strategy at times.
Also that all territories are dished out from the start, there's no noman's land to attack
YES PLEASE ! man risk is one of my fav games please , you allready made my dream come true with shellshock, add risk to the channel as a regular guest and i would be really happy man
My friends and I would play risk and resolve the battles with bots fighting in Black Ops 2. That was a lot of fun.
Yes. Exactly what I needed
Chilled, I hope you see this tip: when you get your soldiers, put them in the front line.
Ah yes, Risk, a game of global domination, alliances and distrust, and supreme strategies.
I have never been good at it. Hopefully Chilled is better then me at it.
See's chilled stacking troops away from the frontline...you sir may be better.
I just witnessed cats do blitzkreig on a global scale
Please can you make more vids of this game??It's soo fun to watch!
"We blew a lot of men."-Chilled 2020
i miss this game so much
God damn it, chilled
Next time you feel like playing Risk, can you and the rest of the Derp Crew play Risk Legacy on Tabletop Simulator? That version of the game has consequences from each round/match that affect the ones after it, and it has crazy factions such as a team that rides bears into battle and aliens.
I watched the conquest of Nooch when it happened :o used to be big fans of The Pack and friends
"A lot in the middle and a lot of pep and come in"
Ah yes... the Tokyo Nooch
This video was a pleasant reminder of that :)
It’s been so long since I’ve seen speedy and sidearms damn it’s been awhile since those old call of duty days *sigh*
The ChilledChaos consultancy firm is going for world domination!
Man I read the title ‘Risk’ and I got excited thinking this was gonna be a Risk of Rain 2 video
I was also 20 when I learned that the Mongols are still alive, because I learned that right now
Seems, a lot of people think Mongols are dead for some reason. Usually people get surprised when i tell them i'm Mongolian.
The Australia moved at the start hurt so much
Borders most important , they gotta go through borders to get your capital, should be ratio 4:1, move all your forces from aussiland to the frontlines
I Want more of this lol
Chilled, that is nowhere near Mongolia.
Yay risk love this game
He should have secured Australia by sticking 5 troops in his capital then made an immediate push to unite Asia, if he had been able to unite and keep Asia for a couple of turns, he would have basically had a guaranteed win. Asia is pretty easy to hold if you grab that chunk of Russia in Europe, reducing your front to 3 tiles.
I was that STEM student who performed well in all sorts of history class but bombed the exams at the end of the year.
If you want to know how bad my history knowledge is, I once thought Napoleon and Hitler existed in the same time period.
Chilled chaos: Die meat bags! the robot empire will rule.
If anyone's looking for it, the second part is called "BAND TOGETHER or DIE! (Risk Factions)"
Strength in numbers reinforce your front line

I feel so sad... my country isn't on that map.
But it's also funny that everyone keeps on forgetting that it's there. Like not even 4 hours away from Aussie.
MOAR
I wish this version of the game was in the playstore or in the appstore.
You blew it Chilled. You blew it several times. It like you were paid per blow!
Chilled advice dont let your tropa "die" on Australia u have 4 and 2's trops there move them to The front lines they are doing nothing you put trops in your boarders Soo u can put at least mental pressure on The others
No offence you fellas are clearly pure brilliance but in this game all I hear is
“Here’s a great idea”, “OH YEA WELL I HAVE OTHER PLANS!”
Man this was so tough to watch speedy was about to kill Vick when he went to attack north Africa because had he killed North Africa he would have swept through South America
I LOVE RISK!!
I was today years old when I found out the mongols are still alive
I need part two
TV be like: Bonk thru roof
Chilled!!! Why!?!? Just why!?!? I've never yelled at my screen this much in my life!
Strategy is obviously not Chilled's strong suit.
17:53 *resistance attack on skynet base in Houston, colorized, 2030*
This game is like War the board game but you have to take over the whole world not just an objective
I see this is the first time chilled has ever played risk with those third round plays. Jesus that wasn’t bad luck it was just dumb, never attack without a dice advantage since you loose ties. It was painful to watch the first time he did it, by like the 7th time in a single turn attacking with equal or fewer troops I was starting to wonder if chilled was even paying any attention to what was going on.
Haven’t seen this in years
Saluti dall'Italia Chilled 😁❤️🎉
Has chilled ever played VDiplomacy? Would LOVE to see that. It's basically risk on PC
