I’m lucky to say I’ve travelled on the Intercity 225’s plentifully, however shame I wasn’t around to remember this level of onboard service. I mean what’s here now is good but this look’s something else, really smart
it seems incredible the UK used to have such amazing railways, it is just sad that it has ended up in non functional mess staffed by agency and non railway men....AND THE TAXPAYER IS STILL PAYING BILLIONS IN SUBSIDY SO THE RAIL OPERATORS CAN PAY DIVIDENDS TO THEIR SHAREHOLDERS, IT IS WRONG ON EVERY LEVEL.
Guards max hours is now 12, going backwards. Sundays are still not part of the working week but are still compulsory. Which means we don't have th 32hr rule
Rail travel seems to have regressed compared to this dining train. Now you’re lucky if there’s a trolley selling tea in a paper cup and a mars bar.
Great video thanks. The lady who was confused by the ticket rules would be completely lost now, post-privatisation!
I often think where the people on this video are now. I guess many have retired. Even the passengers.
A lot will probably have passed away

Twelve pounds 25p for breakfast was not cheap in 1991! At that time my take home pay was about 100 per week.
Believe you me, Train driver pay back in these days was shit. Bus drivers were paid more

Guards wages now compared to then: Incredible
Britain was a far better place to live back then.
