El said he wrote this song, "Time Will Reveal" (by himself), when he was 16 years old and was not going to record it. However, his brother Chico encouraged him to release it. Needless to say, it was a 'hit' that remains a classic! "All This Love" was the other song that El said he also wrote by himself. Others were co-written with his siblings. Plus, even though they play instruments, they've never taken lessons. They play by ear! That's real true God given talent!
All true statements. Motown stole their rights to the music El Debarge wrote. El said that back in those days he was not a business oriented person and very young. They should and could have all remained millionaires.
ElDebarge 97.1Steve Harvey radio show played time Will reveal after lunch I was so Happy about time your music and your family's was played on radio thank you Steve
Debarge/Switch was all that !! Their music will be sampled and played forever...GOD GIVEN TALENT!! God Bless the Debarge family. Their music was and still is TIMELESS!!
This song makes me cry when El sings it. I love the lyrics and his voice is so sweet and angelic. I am like crying right now. "More precious than silver, more precious than diamond rings or anything that I could give you. It wouldn't mean a thing".. pure poetry. I love El!!
@@JPMoron EL and Debarge were excellent. It's just Bobby was out of this world. What a talented family they all were. "I Like It" is my alltime fave Debarge cut.
El has a very beautiful falsetto but I have to disagree with best ever. His late brother Bobby was the best in my opinion. They both had / have beautiful lower range as well. Bobby had a voice that bring tears .El sounds so much like Bobby in this song but still not as good as Bobby. BTW , El is a man so he can't have a real falsetto because a falsetto is a male voice imitation of a female voice. So El being the handsome gentleman that he is will never be a real falsetto. You get an A for your creative effort though.
Bobby never had a solo career, El did (a very long career of many decades), and El composed many great songs, the best songs of the R&B genre, Bobby only had like 3 hit songs with Switch and that's it. El is the music genius in the DeBarge family. El is a better singer. El is DeBarge. Switch sucks compared to DeBarge.
My fav debarge song..and i love the way bunny leads the family in with......"iiiiiiiiii noooo jusst how u feeeeel"...oyea and i cant stop looking ar bunny..omg!
The brother who died was Bobby, who is not shown here. He didn't join Debarge until Bunny and El left, he was also the lead singer of the band Switch in the 70's. He died from complications of aids in '95.
It's cute to me how El grooves on stage. To the ending, he portrayed being frustrated like how the song takes you. "But this time loves foreal! Heeey! This special love in us will all reveal in time!"
I'm still reeling from the BET performance. WHERE HAS HE BEEN?? He is so talented. so few people make music that you can actually FEEL these days. Artists are too disconnected. I had to dig out my old DeBarge - sucks for my housemate. :-)
I saw El De Barge in Philly LIVE! Truly so gifted on the keyboards. His voice is like GOLD in natural or falsetto when he does LOVE ME IN A SPECIAL WAY. OMG!!! I hope he gets family members back together and does a tour. I would SO be there. Thank God he is in recovery & back on track. Getting busted was the best thing to happen to him. Too bad Michael Jackson did not hit bottom so that he could face reality & clean himself up:(
I am so feeling the curls, the family two-step, the characteristically extra ST dancing and even the screen glitches ~ because they all serve as personal reminders of the ultimate, guiding LOVE our Creator has for us through the p/ages of Life. Soulful tunes like this and "Stay with Me" convinced me on da way back that El was a mouthpiece for the Divine call to all hearts. Time will reveal... Let it be in p(e)ace y'all!
I was on the same show with El Debarge. Raising money for the homeless. He is really very tall. 6 feet or more. He told me Marvin Gaye was his favorite artist.
I was only a little kid when this song came out but I remember LOVING this song! It gave me a good feeling inside. I guess that's what good music does. I am so grateful for Debarge and all their wonderful songs. Their music is like the song track to my childhood!
I remembered this song but I couldnt remember the name!!! One day it played on the radio and I ran to get my phone and fumbled to Shazamm it!!! I Something about it is so comforting. I miss those days so much 🥲
El's performance on the BET Awards was amazing! His new song is just beautiful! It's about time a true artist comes back to claim his place in music! Today's stuff doesn't compare by any means!!!!! Thanks for the memories El! And the new album!
OMG!!!! I remember high school dances and dancing with my girlfriend to this song and getting "wood" and not being able to stand up straight afterwards! hahahahahhahahahah! I loved the 80's! Thanks youtube for the memories!
The Love that is revealed is the love of music and it is always right on time. Thank You DeBarge for your poetry thru song. There is always love for you. Always Love
i remember their songs starting from 1978's -1980's i go way back with their brothers when they was the group call Switch, what a feeling, it's so real, i wanna be closer, and then the Debarge their next generation, Love Yall Always, I be still listening to yall, still seems like yesterday,
I got the “In A Special Way” record. It credited Bunny and El on lead vocals. I just love this song! I even sing along whenever I play the instrumental cover by saxophonist Kim Waters. Even I hit the falsettos whenever I sing this to the instrumental version!
👍They had a great sound. It’s so sad to see how they all ended up. 😭 They have been through soooo much & have suffered sooooo much pain. May they be blessed all of the rest of their days.🙏💝
This is one of my slow jams when I was younger and even now! And the 27 years of my marriage to my husband speaks this song very loud and clear! And I had that song in my heart when I did not know what time it was going to be or when it was going to be and where all of the 27 years went! Only Time revealed it! I'm adding this one back to my Singing Repertoire! Smiles
I saw Debarge in the 80's at the Pomona Fair Grounds in California. Awesome! I'm also fair skinned and part French. At this event the girls where all over me. Thanks Debarge for a great night!!

That's a "soul" audience....that's why they are all swaying in harmony. They all get it..great rhythmic music with beautiful lyrics and an amazing voice by El Debarge. This in one of the timeless slow jamz....ever
You can hear gospel in this song. They must have had gospel roots. Just substitute the word "God" in there for "my" and you have church music. Beautiful song regardless, beautifully done.
+Jon Rice ..+MichaelAngelo Taylor...Yes! I saw them on a tv show 20+ years ago. El Debarge stated that this song is about "God"! ...I was so shocked...I never forgot!

DeBarge, Prince, and Michael ruled the 80's!!
YOU DAYUM RIGHT! 😂
Don't forget..a man named Luther Vandross.
Michael and prince also the 70's
Madonna as well
Cameo, Gap Band, Teena Marie, Rick James, Lionel Richie and Sade also. Such s glorious time!!!!
