- A review of The Drowning House, written by Cherie Priest.
The Drowning House is a horror with great atmosphere and characters. This really reminded me of 80s style horror. A well told tale that doesn't rely and gore and shocks.

A chilling story with great atmosphere and characters.
Just read this novel! You got your review exactly right. This novel got me through a nasty 3 day extreme heat event. I never heard of Cherie Priest but I will be reading more from this author! This story is imaginative and original and, as you pointed out, the characters are perfectly drawn at each age.I don't want to say too much about the ending because I don't want to give anything away . I will just say that this novel is a wild ride and a fun read!
Oh, I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Sorry to hear they you've hot such extreme weather. I hope it's more pleasant now.
I pre-ordered that book because I trust your reviews. It should show up July 23.
Oh, I hope you like it.
Ooh, I love cheesy 80s horror a la John Saul!! This sounds perfect!
It's not a cheesy horror per se, but it had the 80s feel. It was a good read.
@@TheHonestBookReviewer Maybr cheesy isn’t the right word but that old school style. That’s why I love Bentley Little. His stuff is over the top but it’s like that stuff I grew up reading.
I don't I've read Bentley Little. I'll need to look him up.
@@TheHonestBookReviewer He’s pulpy - reminds me of the old King and Koontz. The horror is solid but there’s lots of random sex and violence. It’s fun to read.
Sounds like it may be similar to Richard Laymon
