Hi, Matt! That discrepancy is normal... The weight tolerances for a United States nickel is .2 grams, more or less. So, any weight from approximately 4.8 to 5.2 grams is normal, and the actual weight of the coin in its current state could be even lower depending on how much wear that nickel has.

When I weigh nickels with my scale i get 4.96 grams instead of 5 I calibrated it multiple times. Is that a reasonable weight?
