Luke AFB First F-35 Student Pilot Flight (HD)

Luke Air Force Base First F-35 Lightning II Pilot Student Flight. The 56th Fighter Wing at Luke Air Force Base, Ariz., officially begins training F-35 Lightning II student pilots. The Wing's first F-35 Lightning II training sortie was completed by the 56th Fighter Wing Commander, Brigadier General Scott Pleus. Luke AFB will now train both F-16 and F-35 pilots, and the first official class of student pilots will begin training at the base's Academic Training Center in May 2015. While watching this I cannot but think about the way this base sends out a full platoon of MP's to intimidate and harass a little old guy with a camera 100m from the front gate. The hipocracy is astounding.

I think I need some clarity. Cause the video says this is a student pilot flight, yet who ever he is, he is way past a point in his career that he a student. Lt. Col dont kiss ass to students or call them sir. And I’ve never seen a Capt. on a crew chief head for a Squad Commander little less some student. I dont doubt the actual title has the word student in it. I dont question the accuracy of the title of this video. I do contest any suggestions that he’s a student. I do reserve the right to say I maybe wrong. And Id be fascinated to reach him if in fact he’s in a student program.but there is zero evidence I’ve ever observed in my entire like and AF career that would so an 06 at lease, probably more likely a General though, to ever go through any student program cause of the time in service limits and a net loss in the af investment to train or retain one pilot

I assume they mean "student" in the sense that he was a "student" in the F-35. Just a guess. It says that academics will begin later that year, so it would make sense that the wing commander is going through the B-course for the F-35 before the normal course begins, since they're the primary RTU for both the F-16 and F-35.

Hi Pilots. When doing drills, do it in fighter tiny town USA. Only do it in a Metropolis if necessary. I'm sure our enemies love the terrain instead of crowded cities. ;)
