Dooku: Skywalker has become a sith? Luke: No I didn't, I'm gonna be a jedi like my father before me! Dooku: You're the son of Anakin? I hope you dont mind me calling you a son of a bitch.
Dooku in AotC: "The Republic is being ruled over by a Sith Lord, and is oppressing its own citizens to further enrich a handful of wealthy corporations. I'm funding an army to rebel against the Republic and establish something better. Join me and we can change the galaxy for the better!" Kenobi: "I don't believe you." Dooku after RotS: "The Republic got taken over by the Sith Lord I told you was in charge, and is now the Empire, which is objectively worse than the Republic was in every way, shape, and form. I'm funding an army to help the already established rebellion against the Empire so we can put a new Republic in place. Join me and we can change the galaxy for the better!" Kenobi: "... If I asked Bail, would he vouch for you?" Dooku: "He's the one that sent me to save your sorry behind."
I suggested this a while back, and honestly it went really well. Dooku's entire fall to the dark was because he wanted to remove the corrupt Republic and help the people of the Republic. In his mind, ripping the entire thing out and forming a new order became the only way. So Dooku living to see what the "new order" became would definitely make him realize the full extent of his folly. I could imagine Yaddle's words echoing in his mind.
If Darth maul can survive getting cut in half and falling down a reactor shaft out of pure spite. I think dooku could do a similar thing with just being stabbed.
Kinda makes sense as being cut/stabbed with a lightsaber wouldn't be as bad as with a standard sword. A lightsaber would instantly cauterize the wound, so you wouldn't bleed out.

Thank you for the story! Any what if has to take into account a change from what happens in canon, so I found it easily acceptable the change from head cut off to stab in the chest. From there, the story could progress naturally. About Dooku being accepted... Dooku could just say that he has returned to continue his business from Clone Wars - defeat the Sith. Add here that he still used Droids to prove his point...
Then the Rebellion would be ten times as effective. He'd merge the Rebels with Separatist remnants and start producing Battle Droids by the quintillions. Dooku, having seen how little his master cared for him and coming to realize that he's been a tool and expendable all along. Dooku is taken prisoner by the Jedi because Palpatine is still playing politician and the Jedi being Jedi treat Dooku's wounds and give him mechanical hands despite knowing he wouldn't like them. Mace saying that can be part of his punishment. While captive Dooku begins to meditate on his actions up until now and concludes the path of the Sith was a fool's errand and he should have tried harder to help the Jedi reform and be better instead. Knowing his master's plan he decides to reveal everything to the Jedi. That was right as Anakin was marching up the steps with the 501st. Dooku right now was seriously regreting his life choices. However in the ensuing battle Dooku is able to talk the Grand inquisitor into releasing him, pretending he was still on Palpatine's side and GI not knowing what happened on the ship when Dooku was captured. Dooku is freed who gives Dooku a spare lightsaber. When GI and Dooku confront the Temple guards and Battle Master, Dooku sides with the guards and saves the Battle Master. Dooku actually fights alongside the Jedi during the Clone attack and buys time for far more Jedi to survive and escape, ultimately, seeing what Dooku had done, the surviving Jedi let Dooku join them on the escape ship as they flee Courscant, Palpatine had executed order 66 but that only affected the clones, many officers on board Republic capital ships in orbit didn't realize what was happening in time and weren't able to react to prevent the Jedi ships from fleeing to hyper space. With half the Temple surviving the Jedi meet at the site of the old Dantooine Jedi Enclave, knowing the remote system would be off the Republic and Separatist radars. The Jedi would be angry and blame Dooku for everything that had happened, to which Dooku would partly agree and then tell the Jedi everything, baring his soul clean. In doing so, Dooku felt himself shift. It was as if confessing everything help him let go of his rage and the darkness too. And the Jedi around him could feel it. Though they would not forgive him cleanly, revenge was not the Jedi way, and they were short on allies. Dooku understood the Jedi didn't want him around though, and would agree to work alone mostly and away from the Jedi. In fact, Dooku would act as though he were acting alone and the Jedi would claim to be ignorant of his fate if confronted. Simply saying the believe he died in the temple. This would help them both act in secret, and they knew Dooku was good at secrets. With so many Jedi surviving two main things would happen, 1 the Rebellion would develop far sooner and stronger, and the Empire would use its existence to justify extreme militarization. The Empire would strip mine worlds, enslave non-human populations and plunder the wealth of former separatist worlds. Dooku's own wealth mostly among it. 5 years after the rise of the Empire the Alliance to Restore the Republic would be a diverse lot, former separatist worlds, non-human dominated worlds, Clones who had removed their chips and the Jedi Remnant of about 2500 Jedi (only 800 of so of fighting age) with Dooku and a number of reactivated and reprogramed battle droids. The Alliance droids having been reprogrammed under the supervision of the Jedi and Alliance high command would not commit the war crimes and atrocities they had during the clone War. However the Empire would be stronger than ever, because Yoda never fought the Emperor and Kenobi never fought Vader - that had focused on survival, and it let the Empire grow. Vader was more powerful than ever. Then I'd leave the story on a cliff hanger. Because Star Wars needs cliffhangers.

That is also an interesting story to start with!
I love this video😊❤
