this is the kind of lick that you play over and over and it changes and grows into the fret board and feels so good. a really great warm up/practice that stays in your play book.
just learning this Am pentatonic scale from my tutor this week, and have to tell you - your vids along with what i learn in person are really going a long way to helping me get better. i appreciate it. p.s.: your tele is the hotness.
thank you Jody, you're doing a great and fine job on your "axe" nd for me that I love blues it comes up more brighter what you're showing, thanks a lot, Claudio from italy (somewhere out on the north part of the country)
after going up and down the minor pentatonic scale for what seems like forever, it felt like i wasnt getting anywhere,so i decided to try a few licks. this first one came out with only a couple of tries. it feels real good :D thanks for the lesson.
Jody, you're the best. These young snots have no idea how lucky they are to have guys like you. When I was coming up in the 60s and 70s you couldn't get the really good cats to show you shit. Everybody was so jealous of their licks and knowledge. Ignore what 95% of these morons say online. If they could even spell they'd be halfway dangerous. Keep rockin' buddy. You inspire, and that's all that mattters.
In the Headcut scene in Crossroads Vai plays this lick, its at the begining when he holds the guitar up to the good guys face, hes starts it with arp type pick rake.
Couldn't diasgree more............... while it is important to develop your own style, learning licks from thje experts is a time honored tradition going back a hundred years. Clapton, Page and Beck all went top school on players who cam before them. Learning licks from otheer guys, even your buddies, will make your finagers move in unfamiliar ways and open the fretboard to you.. will morph into your style. PS. Jody Worrell IS a pro.
If you just learn the A minor pentatonic and incorporate the "blue note" licks like this will start coming naturally to you. Also use a metronome or backing track like he did in this video.
Yeah pretty cool man. I like the way you play it in a sort of free fall tempo and finish it with a simple in time lick. Its quite jazzy that way! I picked up a doublestop from you too at 5:43 so overall a great lesson! :)
Just keep up the practice, and you'll get better and you'll think about the type you wrote this, or that solo you need to finish up. I just started playing guitar last year, I ain't nowhere near great, but i got better than the day before.
before you turn into slash or navarro or morello you gotta appreciate these simple lessons first. if you wanna be yngwie or paul gilbert or steve vai you have a much much longer road to traverse, and this is by far just a bump on the road.
deluxe us teles are amazing. ash body , fat maple neck. the first lesson here is get a US fender. theres no substitue. theyre amazing tone, and people just dig them. I'm a 30 yr player, and just listen to the tone, even if the licks are just slow, it sounds great. don't waste money on hype or looks, fender got the good wood, and thats that.
damn, i've been scratching my head on how all this works and this vid really openned up my mind. thnx for that man ^_^ i'm still learning on my own with some blues scales and such, work on technique, someday look for some schools for some pro advice -_- *subscribed* i'll keep an eye out =D
@jmbalich I find YT to be rich in great guitarists and teachers...I used to have to pay 20 bucks for a good song book...and that was back in the 70's.....I've picked up so much and the instant tabs websites gives us access to lyrics & tabliture that we rarely had a chance to find back then....I'm getting spoiled, but I ain't complaining
@verifyguy fo show. bt to properly improv you also need also to know the numbers of each note in the scales or the notes themselves, otherwise your guessing of how to reproduce your mental lick will often be incorrect
Thanks Jody and how goes the battle? Never mind the idiots out there who wouldn't know their arse from a hole in the ground and call you down, the lick you have shown us is great and I use it in my solos now...keep truckin' man n' don't let the bastards get you down. Ten thumbs up man!
THANKS BUDDY USED SOME OF YOUR IDEAS ON VIDEO CALLED BB KINGS MUSIC/ALBERT KINGS LYRICS can you post how solo in harmony with 9th chords and 13th chords
@voltronthechef Not sure if this means you agree or disagree........................I agree with you that you should learn your scales and as much theory as possible..........they become tools in the toolbox. A person could theortetically develop scales by working them out by trial and error, but why spend all that time covering ground that has already been figured out. I say use EVERY opportunity to add to one's knowledge base. After that, make it your own

probably the best guitar lessons there is on youtube
Finally, on this video, he is showing the neck where you can actually watch his fingers, what they are doing.

Thanks for the lesson!
Very nice. Thanks for posting.
Any blues songs mix 3rd min and 3rd maj ... so you can really use both of them relating to what are you trying to "say" with the melody you play...
I love that guitar. I have exactly the same
i think that's a '52 reissue. my dream guitar!
very useful and nice explained. thx
solid lesson

where do we get that backing track??? i already have one for A minor blues, but this one is pretty good too
It sounds really good to land on the B though. That is the 9 ( in the A scale)
I LOVED YOU IN SOPRANOS !!!!!!

@tom27j Strats are quite popular, but lots of blues guitarists play other guitars. Personally, I'm a ES-335 Fat-Neck man myself.

what is the year of this telecaster it looks vintage !!!???
that Tele is amazing
very nice!
thank you my friend!
what a voice!
if it's in A minor you should use the A minor blues scale... and the same with major
i do not really think that there is a song just in A
Nice scale pattern, i don't think I would use it much in my solos though
I don't think he says that it is the pentatonic. The minor blues scale includes the flattened 5th ( or raised 4th).
ciao complimenti sei veramente bravo ti ascolto ogni giorno ciao
good job. thx.
nice one beefcake...worrell yeah...tele...yeah...you can use this scale anywhere...yeah.
look at that beautiful telecaster relic... a real roadmaster
What sort of jerk hits the dislike button on this? The vids cool thanks for the upload!
VERY VERY NICE
overall one sweet lick
