In 2020, MNET asked Stray Kids to perform at the MAMA awards, even though SKZ was not nominated for any awards. MNET asked them for purely selfish reasons......they wanted the publicity SKZ could bring to a new project MNET was working on, a K-pop competition show called Kingdom: Legendary War. The awards show was publicity conduit for the competition show and it drummed up a lot of interest.
At the 2020 MAMAs, despite not being nominated for any awards, Stray Kids decided to BLOW THE ROOF off and did a spectacular performance of an older song of theirs called Victory Song. They re-worked it to give it a SPARTA / 300 theme, with swords and all. At the end of their performance, Hyunjin grabbed the "crown" off a pedestal and stared at the camera.
Later, Stray Kids were actually asked to compete at Kingdom......and they ended up winning the crown. So Hyunjin's action at the MAMA awards months before was rather prophetic.
At Kingdom, 6 groups (Stray Kids, ATEEZ, BtoB, SF9, The BOYZ, IKON) competed against each other in singing, dancing, rapping and overall concept of each performance. The judging / scoring system was complex. The judges were mostly, if not all, other artists within the K-pop / Korean entertainment industries.The viewing audience was also allowed to cast votes, and those were factored into the scores as well.
For each performance, the groups were given an overall theme, such as......re-work one of your own songs / performances into something new........or........do a cover of a song by one of the OTHER groups competing at Kingdom (for instance, Stray Kids did a cover of one of BtoB's songs).....and other themes. They had a budget for each performance, which was supposed to cover any set pieces they needed to construct, as well as any other props.
The video you just reacted to, MIROH, was Stray Kids' own song. It's the ONLY time you see Hyunjin performing at Kingdom, because immediately after that performance, JYP forced Hyunjin to go on hiatus (during which he was not allowed to perform or promote with SKZ at all, even after Kingdom was over) for months because someone accused Hyunjin of bullying them many years before. So SKZ were without Hyunjin for the entire rest of the competition.
Meaning, they had to re-distribute his singing parts to other members on certain songs, rework their ideas for choreo, etc because of his forced absence.
During the competition, there were also three collabs for vocals, rapping and dancing - one team of 3 groups (ATEEZ, BtoB and Stray Kids) banded together to compete against the other team of 3 groups (The BOYZ, SF9 and IKON).
Also during Kingdom, some original songs were written/performed specifically for that competition. Example: Stray Kids wrote and performed a brand new song called "Wolfgang".
Each team was graded after each performance, and then their scores were posted on charts for all to see. Their position on the charts fluctuated up and down according to their scores each time. At the end, the scores were tallied up, and Stray Kids won.
During all of the performances, the other teams could see pretty much everything, so that's why in some of the performance videos from Kingdom, you can see the other teams reacting.
Not everyone agrees with the way the final scores turned out.
BUT......one thing almost everyone agrees about is how AMAZINGLY supportive each team was to the other teams. They really hyped each other up and cheered like crazy for each other. Some incredible friendships were forged, and to this day those idols / groups still keep in touch and hang out when they can. That was so, so heartwarming to watch.
SKZ won this show. The show was produced for almost six months. Six K-Pop boys groups had thematic competitions between them, including collabs between groups. The full format of the show from the MNet channel is only in Korean, but on the Internet there are episodes with performances with subtitles.
So kingdom was a televised competition between 6 boy groups. This performance was for the introduction phase...you can see the other five groups present and reacting live. Kingdom was AMAZING. It took place over several weeks with different types of challenges for the groups, lots of behind the scenes, and also events where the groups all got to have fun and get to know each other. Stray kids, ateez, and BTOB became pretty close during it bc they ended up working together. Every Stray Kids kingdom performance was fire, I hope you watch them all, but you can also watch all of the televised episodes for better understanding (they are on UA-cam with subtitles). Every Stray Kids and ATEEZ Kingdom performance is absolute FIRE!!🔥🔥🔥seriously you need to watch all the Kingdom stuff,Stray Kids won that contest,but Ateez's came in a close second if I remember correctly...its been awhile since I watched the entire show,not since it right after it was aired so my memory might be confusing that detail.but either way,the performances are FREAKING AMAZING!!!! Plus you get a taste of what they go through to pull off these kind of big shows...and other big groups reactions too.😄well worth checking out.🎶❤✌

The other are other big groups in the kpop. Ateez, the boyz, btob l, sf9, ikon.
They are basically competing with each other and they were all super good. So if even them amazed with stray kids, then stray kids are really good.

The other groups were Ateez, The boys, SF9, Icon and B to B. They competed over 10 weeks to get the king, there were judges and global votes, it really was an amazing show and the live performances were unbelievable there was also one section were the six teams were divided into two teams and they performed a rap, dance and vocal performance. Stray kids teamed up with Ateez and Btob and formed a sub unit called Mayfly they are 3 must watch performances.
I HIGHLY recommend watching their Kingdom performance of Victory Song next if you want to be extremely impressed,lol.seriously,if you like gladiators or the movie 300...it has that vibe & theme and it ROCKS!!!!!!! @@JAMoore-zz3ki you’re correct ,sorry I forgot it was before they were actually on kingdom they performed but we’re not actually participating in it yet.. which if I remember was sore matter for everyone, the fact that they were asked to perform but were NOT participating in the actual event yet…the next year they participated I guess…seriously sorry I got that wrong.my memory is crap.i often confuse dates and timelines.my apologies…i just remembered it was an AWESOME performance.thanks for the correction.🎶❤️✌🏻

There are versions without the other groups reactions.
sadly, no. maybe on other channel or fans channel youtube if you search it. but mnet was hacked a while ago n all full version of skz performances was wiped out including their legendary 2020 mama performance. and mnet never revived it back despite stays begging for them to reupload.
