I went the day before to buy a ticket but I saw the line and was disheartened. I skirted the perimeter of the venue and planned my point of attack. I went to the point but there were other opportunists getting turned back by venue staff. I noticed a lot of people going to the backstage area and being pulled away. I saw my chance, went for it, walked as if I belonged in the area backstage, went for the main area, went under the rope and into the moshpit whilst Spiderbait was playing. Later, my RHCP shirt began to tear during the Fear Factory set. I went up for a few surfs, lost my shoe but some kind soul gave up to me. As I went back for more, my shirt began to tear more and more until finally it was hanging by a thread. I tore it off, threw it on stage and remained with the collar around my neck. So many memories from this day. Awesome! RIP to all not with us anymore
I happened to be in Sydney from the UK so got to see BDO 1997. What an event! I found this after searching up The Prodigy because my son saw them last night in London - 25 years later!
i cut hair there in a stall and sold weed i was give n acid and met two american babes they ended up living with me for two moths was a fun time!!! a long gone sydney,,,,
Hard to believe everyone, including Jabba apparently, missed Aphex Twin. I didn't even know him at the time but damn it would have been great to see him. I went to the Melbourne show, was 14 and it was amazing. I bought my ticket because I wanted to see Sepultura and it was only $60 for BDO, but $40 for the solo show. Fear Factory were good as a replacement. But I felt like the mosh was even crazier for Spiderbait.. I had to extract myself from it because it was so intense. I was 5 rows from the front and it was crushing. Thanks for these memories - it's sad to think of the people no longer with us, and this era of music we'll never see again. Living 1997, Falls 1997 and BDO 1997 were probably the coolest music festivals I ever went to.
@@Casketkrusher_ Rad! I'd love to hear that and reminisce. I often think about Dino jumping up and down on stage and how the speaker stack behind him tilted forward every time he landed. Ha! Mesmerizing stuff. I was recently reminded of Raymond's drum chops by a track on Gojira's last album "Magma" and figured I'd have a listen and yeeeeeaah. . Couldn't do it. I'm impressed that you can still handle the Fear Fatters jandle. All power to you my friend. 🤘🙃🤘
@@mattressfour20 My favorite albums by them are Soul of a New Machine/Concrete and Obsolete. I'm a major Death Metal fan and it sometimes bothers me they didn't make a follow up to Soul of a New Machine. It was unique with Burton's clean singing, although at the time they sounded like Napalm Death. Ironically if you listen to Napalm Death's "The Wolf I Feed" the vocals on there sounds exactly the same as Burton's clean singing on Demanufacture.

Fear factory totally made that festival the best! Best sound ever!
Totally! But have ya tried listening to Demanufacture lately? "Tried" being the operative word. Ha!
@@mattressfour20 It's my favorite band, I listen it all the time.
@@mattressfour20 I actually got the soundboard recording of this festival by them, sounds way better as on the video.

Only just realized Jabba is Dazza from Houso's. Mind fucking blown, and I'm only four beers deep into the evening.
