Wednesday marks the 50th anniversary of the reputed Roswell UFO landing in New Mexico.
While the US Defence Department explained away the incident as one of their tests, UFO fans say it's a lame theory.
The US Defence Department has said it was dummies like these, dropping from high altitude balloons, that eyewitnesses saw near Roswell, New Mexico, fifty years ago.
But UFO fans refute that.
They say newly released films showing the balloon-dummy tests are merely another attempt by the Air Force to explain away the Roswell UFO sightings.
The Fund for UFO research says it is a lame attempt which is borne of desperation.

"It looks just like they're getting desperate. Either they have an answer to this or they don't. We don't know why they're feeding people answers that are so transparent."

Berliner and associates say eyewitness accounts, including those of former Air Force officials, are in stark contrast to the Air Force dummy test story.

"Such dummies are meant to look as human as possible in order to be of any value, in order to present, produce any useful data. No one reported seeing any human-looking bodies in connection with the Roswell incident."

The fund goes so far as to call the latest Air Force effort a "preposterous scheme" to end the speculation over what people said they saw in the desert near Roswell in July 1947.
The Air Force has referred in recent days to a test programme labelled Project Mogul -- testing high altitude balloons, with small payloads carrying instruments.
Again, Berliner and his UFO researchers point to eyewitness accounts which they say punch holes in the Air Force story.
The UFO researchers say very unusual wreckage was found, as well as something completely different to the dummies offered up by the Air Force.
