Renault megane 3 (2010) steering lock emulator installation

The steering lock in my Renault Megane 3 2010 would stay locked sometimes. I don’t know for what reason. The dashboard would say “ Turn steering wheel and start” but when I did that nothing would happen. Inserting the keycard would not release the steering lock, the steering wheel would move only maybe 1-2cm left and right. After visiting couple of forums, I tapped/ hit the steering lock with a hammer couple of times and disconnected the battery for maybe 3-4 hrs. And when connected everything again and tried, the steering wheel unlocked and the car started normally. Decided to remove the steering lock (obviously when unlocked) and install the steering lock emulator. It works like a charm. 😎

Good video. Can I just check the sequence.
1) Ignition on....but not start. ESL unlocked.
2)Disconnect leads to Esl
3)Remove Esl
4)Ignition off. Key removed
5) Attach Emulator
6) Start.
If that right and complete?

You kan get that simulator in wrong position, make sure you introduce him right. Mine problem was with induction module by the starter even if i had an error in dashboard like this "Lenkradsperre defect"

do I have to remove the steering wheel lock? it doesn't work just to remove the plug and put it in the emulator, right?

Not sure but you can give a try as long as the steering lock is in unlocked position to start with. Might be a bit tricky to get the cables unplugged though.
My steering lock was temperamental and would refuse to disengage at times. So i just removed the steering lock altogether when it was unlocked and put in the emulator. Worked like a charm.
