I think this video talking about enjoying lifestyle outdoors (including work life balance) is cool. 👍 Personally my wife and I enjoy doing multi-day hiking along the beautiful cliffs of Devon and Cornwall. Also the challenges of trying to complete the national trails in the UK carrying a tent on my back. I am 56 years old now. I carry a Garmin Mini-inReach 2 in case I am out of mobile phone coverage. I always have a single walking stick (rather than two trecking poles) so that I have one hand free and can plant strongly going downhill. Generally I carry an extra bottle of water and sometimes give spare water to other hikers if it is blazing hot (not very often in the UK!). Salomon GTX wide fit hiking boots are good, and I only need normal socks not thick socks. I hope you gentleman never get stuck in an avalanche. Sounds like a very tricky situation to get caught up in.
Avalanches are no fun and are a challenge for those involved in the rescue operation. A few years ago we had over 20 deaths here in Colorado, but I believe last year was a lot less.
