    I actually got to see someone do this maneuver at a vendor I was picking up at.
    It happened so fast, I almost didn't realize what was happening until I sort of replayed it in my head, its a pretty slick move.

      Yeah, its basically a uturn. Reason you don't see it often is because it's not necessary since it requires a lot of space and if load is heavy, you're better off doing a 45. It does make sense for a day cab to be doing this. They need something like 20% less space than sleeper do because of turn radius and size difference. Sure, a lot of backing is done by day cabs, but sleeper is the standard. Standard trucks need a good set up to avoid jack knife too. Company vehicles don't have proper slack or the right 5th wheel alignment for sharp turning.

    This guy truly knows what he is talking about. I was lucky enough to have a couple of hours of training from him before my state tests for class A CDL and I passed every maneuver with no points lost. Even nailed my alley dock with no pull ups. Thanks!

    This is great! I can’t wait to try it out. Can you please do a video on parking at a truck stop? I find it difficult because of the tight situations. or shipper/receiver with tractors & trailers relatively close?

    I’ve been trying to get this setup right for weeks. I always end up with too much angle since my tandems are all the way forward. I practiced using your ABC diagram all week and it has been so much better.

      @@jmj48 learn how to do a 4X4 maneuver aka walk the clock. Sleeper or daycab don't matter this maneuver allows to adjust the tractors angle to trailer while not leaving your position too much if at all.

      @@TheNorsewarlord can you please explain the "walk the clock" and/or 4 x 4 maneuver? I don't think I'm familiar.

    • @TheNorsewarlord
      @TheNorsewarlord Рік тому

      @@drummum21 the maneuver im talking about is a series of hard left and rights while moving forward and backwards 4 foot at a time. It operates on the presumption that it takes
      8 foot for tandems to react
      4 foot for drives to react
      2 foot for steers to react to whatever you do on the wheel. With that said that assumes tandems are at 41 foot mark and its a 53 foot trailer. The video I posted on my channel shows it as practice going all the way. But the actual application should be no more then 3- 4 moves to reposition the tractor to either pivot on the spot or straighten the tractor when you have limited space. It also useful when you realize you didn't time it right.

    Blindside: Temporary move your mirror out further to see your trailer.
    Then stop and adjust the mirror when you are about to get behind it.

    I drive a hustler and I can say that I am very good at it but it surprise me how many drivers ask me to back up trailers for them because they don't know how. I used to do it but they can't even say thank you so I stop helping , let them strugle.

    What do I do if I cannot do the hangman , but I still have to blind alley dock?

    • @AdvancedTruckBacking
      @AdvancedTruckBacking  11 місяців тому +2

      Take your time..stop often and get out and look. Or, you can roll down the passenger side window, set the brakes and go over and peek out the window a few times. Also you can temporarily move the wide angle bottom mirror outwards.

    I like the concept, thanks. Just something that confused me: You said at 1:25 that "Leg A runs parallel to the space." It's actually PERPENDICULAR to the space you eventually park in. Same thing at 2:52 . I understand that your travel path is parallel to an imaginary line of the fronts of all the trailers, but you are driving perpendicular to them, not parallel with them.

    • @AdvancedTruckBacking
