RIP to a great Mountaineer. I met him once at RDU airport in North Carolina. He was in town to play in a golf tournament. What a legend.
R.I.P.Jerry West the great basketball player in WVU History.
I had the opportunity to meet Jerry West at a sports festival in Oak Hill in 1984. This man had a long and fruitful life. I've read that when Jerry West was growing up he slept with a gun because his father was abusive.
This is the first I've heard about it damn I hate tha Jerry West is an icon in West Virginia rest in peace my friend and thank you for all you've done for the state of West Virginia. 🏀🏀🏀💥
Rest in peace Jerry west one of greatest of all time in Wvu an nba sad day for moutianeer nation
My parents took me to see West in the summer of '61 (or maybe '62). He played in an outdoor, semi-pro league in Kanawha City. (NBA players didn't make big money in the early '60's). West played for McJunkin Corporation. He was the only player on either team to have 2 numbers on his jersey. After the game we discovered we had sat next to his wife. West bought me a popsicle.
Rest In Peace, Jerry!
There probably wouldn’t be a Coliseum without him and Rod Thorn
The losses keep coming. We need to dedicate this coming season to him!
RIP JWest. Let’s mourn .. then retool in his honor … yes!
