  • Animations and motion graphics in Descript are now as easy as clicking a few buttons and dragging elements around on your video canvas. In this video, special guest Renee Teeley (host of The Creator Feed podcast and Stranger Flavors on UA-cam) shares how to add pans and zooms for creative effect, and how to animate a quick title graphic.

Best video released recently. There are so many hidden ideas I hope discript will start to uncover. I'd love to learn more about the hidden gem's like this. Also would love to see a start to finish publishing to UA-cam for podcast including transcript upload and best UA-cam settings.
    Thank you and great work.

Do you plan on adding Easing controls on the animations? Currently, it's set to linear. Would love to get some In-out/bounce/spring easing presets to make things look more professional.

I would be awesome to have automatic animations such as captions does. And also to be able to duplicate them so everytime you add one you don't have to adjust the numbers again. Thank you for all thw work. Keep it up.

    Thanks for this video.
    Question.
Are you able to add an image or GIF and layer it to a video in a specific scene?

How to apply the same animation to all scenes in bulk? Is it possible?

Can I include a zoom in and out as a template for a scene? I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to be able to create a 110% Zoom in over the first second of a scene, and then have it zoom back to 100% at the end of the scene. In fact, the ability to create templates that have things anchored to the beginning of a scene and the end of a scene would be phenomenal functionality in general. (Imagine a little clip you put at the end of all of your shorts, for example, that automatically snaps to the end when you drop the "shorts" template.)

Thanks for the video. So when you want your video to go back to normal size, you have to add another zoom and pan animation and take it back to it's original size? Is that correct?

    • @Descript
      @Descript  10 місяців тому +1

Yes, that's correct. To get around this, you can add scenes to your video beforehand, then add the animation to one scene only. The next scene will remain at the original aspect ratio. But to do a zoom in, then zoom out effect, you need to apply them as separate animations. Here is more info on working with scenes, if you're unfamiliar: help.descript.com/hc/en-us/articles/10248939749517-Scenes-overview

I see that Zoom In is a built-in animation, but how do you zoom out again? You demonstrated it, at least a bit, in your video, but I don't see any way to do that. Please help!

The way I'm understanding is that you would start with the video size bigger than the 'canvas' size for the first keyframe so that as time goes by, the video size gets smaller towards the second keyframe (at which point it should be the size of the canvas (assuming that's the way you want it, otherwise if you are wanting the video 'zooming' out even further then the video layer size will be smaller than the canvas and the background color will be showing). I hope that makes sense... I've been using Descript a lot lately for my job- not a professional yet but quickly learning and enjoying it!

When I try to add an animation to some text, there is no 'zoom in' or 'zoom and pan' option, just 'spin' and 'custom.' What happened to the other options? Very confusing and frustrating.

This feature is not working in my current project. Latest version of Descript with a multi-cam setup (one is just the screen, other is the webcam) and it just animates an invisible box instead of my actual video. I've been at it for 30 minutes adjusting different parameters and nothing. So many bugs in Descript....

Nice tips. I trained my overdub voice and it keeps saying "Sorry, something went wrong, try again in a day or contact us" But it's been a week of me trying daily and also I have tried to contact Descript and it's not possible to get in touch with them. Please can you help me?

Can y’all please do the auto Ai Zoom like the app “captions” does? It’s so seamless and knocks it out in one click. It’s so annoying to do this for an entire video. Ai zoom as a feature request please 🙏

Descript's focus is not on animations or effects, and it shouldn't be, it's on simplicity and also audio editing, that's where it shines.
But they are moving quick and might add more effects and animations in the future.
